Funny thing is my wife just got a 2026 Juniper Premium RWD. I liked it so much I got a used 2024 model y with 45k miles for 35k. I also got 3 months of free supercharging and 3 months of premium connectivity. I have HW4 too. I receive mine in a week but I think you can’t go wrong either way

No point paying 20k more for same hw4

I think your post answers your own question.
The APR promo and wanting the latest car (and its features) are essentially the only reasons you'd buy a new one.
If you just care about FSD but also the depreciation cause you may want to trade it sometime in the future, then maybe just getting a used 2024 (has HW4) is good enough. However it also depends on what rate you get on that unless you're paying cash.
As long as you're buying a used HW4 Tesla at a great price with either a low APR or in cash, then you could subscribe to FSD for like 10+ years with the difference you saved (assuming some version of FSD stays similar prices).

> I’m wary of taking the depreciation hit buying new but the interest rate is temping
How is 0.99% tempting compared to $20,000 of depreciation?

I picked up this exact same car today, love it! The APR promo was the driving factor for getting my very first Tesla.
Since I have not purchased a new vehicle since 2016, I think it’s worth while to get a new one since I can afford it (YOLO). But if you are tight with money, go with the used one.

Sorry post wasn’t clear - sticker on new is $47k and used hw4s are going for around $33-35k so yes new is still more expensive.
If I bought used I’d pay cash, buying new I’d take the .99% and invest the cash which would lower cost of the new over time. Outcome will vary but if I can get a 4-5% rate of return the difference in cost between the cars starts to narrow a lot more.

Juniper feels like a different car. If you can afford it, buy it. Enjoy!

Get the new Juniper at .099 apr and it’s tax deductible thanks to Uncle Don. Last month I ordered a new Juniper Prem RWD and FSD purchase(worst case of FOMO ever due to Feb 14th cutoff) the car is absolutely brilliant .

Do the math. .99 for 72 payment, or paying cash for used. .99 is enough to keep my cash liquid, and reinvest it such as MMA or stocks. I think if I had the cash, I'd still finance for basically at 1%. Totally up to the buyer.

And be aware even on HW4 if the stalk issue is a big deal for you, there's both aftermarket and Tesla factory fix for that. Just get HW4 regardless. You can also get ones with Autopilot/Autosteer which got killed off on any new one, and that might be important of you decide you don't want FSD, as new ones are stuck with TACC now.

If you plan to resell your car every 2-3 years, yes used. If you plan to drive it to the ground get new and pay for “Gap” insurance for the first 2 to 3 years.

Exactly how I’m thinking. The new comes out to around $100 a month / ~ $10k more over long run with the cash invested

You want to be paying $100/month for the rest of the time you own this?
Get used and you might get one with permanent FSD added

You would be paying 15-20k more, while your new car is deprecating at the same rate.

I needed a car for 3 years after my truck started giving me issues. I initially looked at a 2023 used MYP with HW4 but after test driving it, I was sorta put off by the rough suspension and the non-ventilated seats.
Long story-short, I ended up with a new MY Premium RWD. Will probably just keep it as a commuter until my daughter is ready to drive.

50k after taxes is kind of ridiculous to me for this car
30ish k for something low miles I could get behind that

I'm shopping for a used MYLR now, and focused on the 2023 model since that's the year Telsa improved the suspension. What I'm finding is that a lot of them are buybacks due to some sort of problem, and have a branded title as a result. Some even mention being a lemon law buyback.
I have not looked very hard at 2024 models, and this is a small sample size of just what has been listed in my local market over the past month or so.
In your situation I'd go with the 2024 LR AWD as long as I could confirm that it wasn't a lemon law buyback.
