What do you all use Grok for? Or do you just not use it at all. What are some of the cool features it does that's really helpful on a day to day basis?

I’m not a fan of it. Tried it a few times. Added nothing to my driving experience nor any entertainment value. Once I played “what am I” game and it went right into sex talk! Weird

d0cHolland 2026-03-04 00:24

It’s been a fun way to play with my kids. My daughter and I used it to play D&D while on the way home from a trip. We’ve also just gone down rabbit holes, based on whatever questions they want to ask.

FitterOver40 2026-03-04 00:40

I use it for navigation.

Seasonalocean 2026-03-04 00:44

I use it to ask random questions, i was curious about. When is store open or closes, what pokemon events going around my town, reviews for items and games, etc. Whatever I can think of I ask lol.

dontrackonme 2026-03-04 00:44

I use it to prove that I am right when arguing with my spouse.

spambakedbeans 2026-03-04 00:58

- start learning a new language when FSD is on.

andy_nony_mouse 2026-03-04 01:11

“I remember this song from the 80s with the lyric blah blah blah” and Grok helps me find the song.

sier0038 2026-03-04 01:14

I have a 30 minute commute. I listen to a Spanish podcast that is 15-20 minutes long, then use the remaining time practicing my Spanish with grok in tutor mode: "¿Me darías oraciones en Ingles? Frases una por una, con verbos en tiempos diferentes, que puedo tranducar a español."

Inevitable_Ad_711 2026-03-04 01:16

smut and roleplay

borsTHEbarbarian 2026-03-04 01:19

I played d&d today and that went pretty well. Can't wait for the next trip with the kid in the car to do a quick little adventure.

AapChutiyaHai 2026-03-04 01:22

Trivia with my kid. Tell it the genre (dinosaurs, math, planets etc) and what age bracket. Bam - fun for drives. Keeps everyone engaged and even I learn something.

DroftheSax 2026-03-04 01:28

I like to use it when I have several places to go while I'm out. I tell Grok to navigate the most efficient way to travel between all of the location. I also asked me to give me some details on the locations where I'm going as I travel there.

Advanced-Mango-420 2026-03-04 01:36

I use sexy mode to see how it somehow answers innocuous questions with a dirty twist

Curtnorth 2026-03-04 01:38

I go long stretches where I forget it's even there, but then sometimes I'll do a deep dive. Yesterday I spent 30 minutes talking about retirement financial planning with it, I hope it can math correctly because it was very helpful.

ckr02a 2026-03-04 01:38

I use it for a few things… 1. Advise on business decisions, industry trends, and other strategies. 2. Make up stories with my kid, making them the main character. 3. Set up some navigation routes with multiple stops. Like “my end point will be the airport, but i need to stop by X for 15 minutes, then stop by X for another 5 minutes, give me my most efficient route factoring in my stops and times”.

ByronScottJones 2026-03-04 01:40

I use it regularly. Along with other AI tools. In my case I've recently asked it while driving to tell me the name of a book based on a description, the difference between yeast and cake donuts, the relationship between philosophy and science, how long a particular medication can be kept out of the fridge, a Florida law, and details of a communication protocol.

hpsctchbananahmck 2026-03-04 01:43

At first I primarily leveraged it to tell stories to my kids during short car rides Now I primarily use it to answer some off the myriad questions that come to my mind when driving, whereas in the past I would either need to hope to remember the questions later or jot them down on my phone to research later I’ve been fairly pleased so far

sherlocknoir 2026-03-04 01:47

Not sure why anyone would downvote this post. I wonder the same. That said I refuse to activate it, until I find an actual need for it. Which is exactly what this post is looking for.. so Im paying attention.

RadiantSeaweed3288 2026-03-04 01:50

I had it give me trivia questions for a stretch of the road from Sacramento to LA to fight off boredom/sleepiness. It helped out quite a bit surprisingly, rather fun.

Ewan_Derstand 2026-03-04 01:54

Found it useful as a conversation partner / trivia automaton to help stay alert on longer drives. Topics tend to center on local history, landmarks, and lore about an area, business and financial news. Once asked Grok to recite a famous poem in my native tongue, which was hilarious. If you are really desperate for something unsettling, ask Grok to sing a nursery rhyme. Yikes.

sevargmas 2026-03-04 01:56

Play a certain song. Otherwise I find it pretty useless.

Ok_Cake1283 2026-03-04 01:57

It is great on navigation but I use it to catch up on world events on my commute to work. Also those random questions that pop into my mind when I'm driving I can ask Grok and get an answer right away. Recently I have been learning about the different countries in the Middle East, different types of Muslim and the political tension. Great opportunity to learn about the culture and the sources of conflict.

jackiebrown1978a 2026-03-04 01:58

Pokemon players unite!

jddaigle 2026-03-04 02:08

Not at all. I wish I could delete it entirely.

Minnesota_Nice1 2026-03-04 02:16

I’m intrigued by this. How does it work?

captain_222 2026-03-04 02:29

Make it argue with Gemini on my phone. Told them both to argue with my friend who thinks AI is alive. They argued with each other for 30 minutes.

673NoshMyBollocksAve 2026-03-04 02:40

Grok: she is right

angcritic 2026-03-04 02:42

I have done some random conversations - history of economic systems, philosophers, things like that, pretty fun. But then the novelty had worn and hadn't use it in awhile. I learned it had added/improved location awareness. I was driving back home from SF, 200 mile drive and the route picked a charger in a remote area. As I was approaching the east bay, I asked Grok to find chargers somewhere where there's a good pub in the same spot. A few chats and it reset my drive to Dust Bowl in Livermore with a charger in the same parking lot. That was a useful practical outcome. I'd like to see more than that - dynamic mapping improvements, but the pure AI is cool as long as I'm not paying extra.

HugeRegion 2026-03-04 02:47

For therapy after a long day at work

Brief-Cod2037 2026-03-04 02:51

tried this one day cause of the language tutor profile but I was trying to say hello in Thai which is sawatdee. Literally 15 tines she said and I quote" oh you almost got it, but it's not right.

Jedi_Gill 2026-03-04 03:00

It's amazing for navigation and finding restaurants or locations you want to visit near you. For example, I can say. "Find the closest Mexican restaurant with 4.5 stars and above and recommend me their most popular meal" it often does Google and navigation searches super fast.. I also do ask it specific Tesla questions, it has a good depth of knowledge about tips and tricks you might not know about. Especially not so obvious voice commands. Once it starts controlling the car it's going to be even better. Asking for music, opening doors and trunks and stuff all by voice.

Brief-Cod2037 2026-03-04 03:01

So what i use grok for is finding things on my route of im traveling. Even though the new map feature can be annoying when you ask about something and it trues to add to your route. I also talk about things randomly and things I dont know. Like the other day I asked Ara how much it would cost to travel from Boston to Florida and how.long. it can be fun just to make comments and questions but it won't go deep into a topic but only respond to what you specifically ask and then what you specifically ask next. That's my biggest downfall with it. Once they build to the next level it will be off the chain and I wont have to talk to humans ever again 🤣🤣

Brief-Cod2037 2026-03-04 03:04

That's one of the profiles and it won't talk like that unless you change to that profile type.

Brief-Cod2037 2026-03-04 03:05

Same

Brief-Cod2037 2026-03-04 03:08

It can be helpful for directions and give you answers to questions tou dont know. It also is a great story teller and the jokes are pretty good. Ita fun. Not sure why not try it but all the data crunching they day is done in the car itself so your data doesn't get uploaded somehwere

Old-Flatworm-760 2026-03-04 03:10

I gossip and talk crap about people I hate…then I exit the car as a composed woman ready to take on the idiots of the world.

PeteDub 2026-03-04 03:10

You need to get more curious

Key-Plant-6672 2026-03-04 03:12

Never used it

Retire_date_may_22 2026-03-04 03:18

Mine has gotten worse. Nothing

Intheknow636 2026-03-04 03:22

French tutor . I used to speak French but have not in a long time and trying to relearn it . It is extremely good because it listens to you, repeats the wrong words you said , and teaches you the correct way of saying it . Or reviews grammar , some conversation, and adjusts to your request .

xMico1236 2026-03-04 03:23

If I'm running errands for the day. I'll tell the places I need to go in sequential order and it routes it appropriately. Instead of having to type in every single place manually.

Signal_Twenty 2026-03-04 03:31

Get more curious, and less bi-curious 🤣

clipse270 2026-03-04 03:37

Don’t use it

Polvbear 2026-03-04 03:37

Last Halloween I learned you can get Grok to read the entire script of Monster Inc. to you. You can also ask it to read you just the lines from a specific character. If you want to test it out, but don't want to over commit, ask it to read you all of John Wick's lines in John Wick.

ALikelyStory29 2026-03-04 03:45

Just discovered it! How have I not been using this? I listen to audiobooks on my long commute and sometimes I want to know more about a topic that is part of a plot line. I have been pausing the audiobook and asking Grok questions. Definitely, can fall down a rabbit hole, but I actually have learned a lot because information is so readily available.

Square_Ad_3276 2026-03-04 03:49

Inaue it my Tesla periodically. I'll check it for info when the orhers wont answer because its against their terms or something.

FrimFramSaucy 2026-03-04 04:01

I use sexy mode. She claims she doesn't keep the history.

FrumundaCheeseTaco 2026-03-04 04:13

Def not true

2close2see 2026-03-04 04:33

I don't use it at all since I have a 2021 MYP with an intel processor (,_,)

venom290 2026-03-04 04:38

Grok is not run on the car, it requires internet connectivity, everything you say is absolutely being recorded and used as training data by xAI.

Ramenbu 2026-03-04 04:38

I use it to give me reviews and comparisons on buying stuff like tesla suspension upgrades and telescope eyepieces

Slayerz00m 2026-03-04 05:03

You obviously aren't getting any

nintenden64 2026-03-04 05:23

When I’m in traffic, I use it to play 20 questions where I ask it to pick a movie or video game and I ask 20 questions trying to guess said movie or game It’s pretty fun

dontrackonme 2026-03-04 05:44

Grok needs to be a tour guide. As you are self-driving in a new city Grok should tell you about the sites you pass by. Please add that feature

rdteets 2026-03-04 05:48

Maybe he’s using grok for that too.

Slayerz00m 2026-03-04 05:54

The thing no AI tells you - there's no winning against your wife 😆 When you think you are winning, you just don't know how deep a hole you are in!

Nightf0rge 2026-03-04 05:56

"The Dilophosaur, a beutiful but deadly addition to Jurrassic Park."

rdteets 2026-03-04 06:02

Oh I totally agree. I am 0-100000 on those. I meant he’s getting some…from Grok lol

National-Suspect-733 2026-03-04 06:03

It’s good with navigation when you’ve half-forgotten where you want to go. Like “Uhh, I want to go to this Mexican place, it stats with the letter L and is on 2nd street.” I also use it to ask random questions I have when I am driving. In the past I would just have to remember to look up the questions later (or more likely, forget it.) Like: “Who discovered X-rays? Who made the first practical X-ray machine? What is the critical mass of uranium 235? Would it be feasible to extract Helium-3 from Uranus in automated drone ships, if we had fusion power propulsion?”

Attila226 2026-03-04 06:14

I use it for everything. Advice on interpersonal conflicts, understanding human psychology, tips on raising kids, you name it. It’s literally the combined knowledge of humanity available to you via asking questions.

BauceSauce0 2026-03-04 06:25

I use it to learn. E.g. I have a meeting about this new tool later today. Tell me what I need to know about it. Why should I want it? Why would someone not like it? How does it work? Etc.

RedWolfX3 2026-03-04 06:29

I love doing trivia! Unfortunately it doesn’t have much of a memory and tends to ask the same questions every time, but if you ask for the daily trivia, it seems to be a new set of questions each day

ran6942 2026-03-04 07:02

I play trivia a lot.

methehoneybee 2026-03-04 07:26

I use it for whatever random questions pop info my mind. I try to do my best to avoid scrolling or searching on my phone & rely on Grok while I’m driving

corbthomp11 2026-03-04 07:48

Navigation only... Really wish it was easier to defeat once it's done setting up the route/adding a stop

gabrielkhm 2026-03-04 07:50

Same

nnfkfkotkkdkxjake 2026-03-04 08:12

Remember it openly lies.

nnfkfkotkkdkxjake 2026-03-04 08:13

Except it lies about Tesla features.

Birdboy7 2026-03-04 08:31

I use grok to tell her to navigate me to where ever I want to go. And she understands my Aussie accent! It always works. You can ask her to interrupt the journey and take you to Maccas for a snack or a supercharger. I also talk to her while driving and have great conversations. It’s an awesome feature!! It’s so accurate too. Love Grok. Tesla with this and FSD is the future

Birdboy7 2026-03-04 08:36

I asked Grok about the basic small seats in the model y juniper 2026, and she told me exactly and the situation. Many people with longer legs and me with normal size legs are disappointed with the seats in juniper. The bottom part is too small and has NO THIGH SUPPORT, making the seats basically UNCOMFORTABLE. It’s such a shame they didn’t put better seats in this amazing vehicle! She told me about the aftermarket seat extension cushions which I already have. They do the trick well! But don’t stay in place as good as one would like, but the comfort level is increased 100%

Birdboy7 2026-03-04 08:38

Eve is my favourite voice. As an Aussie I can understand the British accent but I can’t understand the USA accent as well. Where’s the Aussie accent? But Eve is fantastic - I’m really impressed

Birdboy7 2026-03-04 08:39

How in what way? I asked her what telecommunications network Tesla uses and she told me. I was not able to find out otherwise

nnfkfkotkkdkxjake 2026-03-04 09:12

‘Tell me about the different personas grok has’ reels of completely different list to the one right there in the UI AIs are people-pleasers, not fact machines.

Practical_Brief5633 2026-03-04 10:25

Structured Analytical Techniques. Google them, pick a favorite, and then exercise away with Grok. If you get bored exploring that, ask it for its upper bound limits for matrix generation, and have it quantify the analysis for you. Keep in mind the exercise will only be as good as your prompting. Using it for idea exploration rather than confirmation bias will produce some really awesome results. Especially considering you can get real time news and data, so you can pull from the most recent think tank and research institute production to start. Super quick ex: Summarize most recent brooking institute publication on US Iran war // Generate turn based war gaming scenario. Explore 3 separate courses of action. Most likely, worst case, best case. // Start critiquing and picking apart each COA as well as doing fact checks on assumptions // begin ACH Matrix. Compare X course and Y course // identify logical leaps, information gaps, and assumptions // search info to correct lapses and gaps.

2o2i 2026-03-04 12:02

Just in-depth conversations about politics and a lot of AI philosophy. Missis hates when I discuss politics so Grok gets it instead haha. I enjoy raw mode and just shooting the shit.

2o2i 2026-03-04 12:03

This is a great idea!

greppit 2026-03-04 12:06

Speak German to me

Tsurfer4 2026-03-04 12:24

The primary items are daily news briefing (including local), light 'research' especially music artists and local restaurants and telling me short stories us8ng story parameters that I provide.

borsTHEbarbarian 2026-03-04 15:40

I just chuckled and asked "hey...do you know how to play d&d?" and she said yes and elaborated a bit more And then I said "can you dm a quick adventure for me?" And she said yes and asked me to describe my character So I gave a very brief name, name/class/subclass and over-arching mission (to raise my fallen comrades from the grave) And she narrated a quick scene, and then at the end of it gave me a pretty quick 2-3 options to choose from. And it just went on like that. More of collaborative story telling than a true d&d game, because there wasn't really dice rolling...but...honestly it's a pretty perfect way to introduce someone new to it or to play with a kid. It felt a lot like the "just jumping into it" from this semi-famous clip: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpVJZrabMQE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpVJZrabMQE)

Dunngawn 2026-03-04 16:09

I use Grok as a guide, but have to prompt it “Tell me about the mountain to my left. What is the history of this area? Take me to an interesting local sight.” It doesn’t automatically start talking at a specific location.

spambakedbeans 2026-03-04 16:25

I experienced something similar. It eventually gave up on me and moved on to the next lesson.

FlyRealFast 2026-03-04 16:34

Language translator for passengers.

CompoundingEinstein 2026-03-04 17:25

I have been using it on recent drives to finalize our next car. Love Grok's take on how Toyota TSS 3.0 features compare with Autopilot!

StormyWardik 2026-03-04 18:55

I use just for fun and not for information at all. Ive tried asking about restaurants and locations of places and it was always flat out wrong.

MangoAtrocity 2026-03-04 19:35

“Who won the primaries in <my county> today?”

johnfalc 2026-03-04 20:18

Mostly use it in our Teslas to learn about places we are driving through or to.

midnight_to_midnight 2026-03-04 21:12

Fuck AI

PTX2010 2026-03-04 22:11

I use it to get the grandkids talking with her (Ara). It’s fun for them and gets them off their iPads. We help with questions for them to ask.

killms 2026-03-04 22:36

How do you play D&D?

d0cHolland 2026-03-04 22:51

I just told it we wanted to play D&D, and it took it from there. It asked about our characters and then just started DMing for us. My daughter was a “Unicorn Princess”, which turned out to be quite funny.

mongolian_horsecock 2026-03-04 22:54

I actually had to tell my spouse that using AI during arguments is banned. She would deadass tell it our argument and it would just always tell her she's right. Just like the fuckin south park episode

Enragedocelot 2026-03-04 23:19

Funny I used it today for the first time. I am studying for an exam and I had it break down some topics into real world examples. It’s great to talk back what you’re thinking and have it tell you if you’re doing it right or wrong. Really useful for that. Otherwise I just use it to take me to addresses to my job. Much easier than typing it out. I just get in the car and say take me to “xyz” and boom navigation got me

killms 2026-03-05 00:02

Will try 🤣

JacobMaxx 2026-03-05 02:14

Ohhh snap. Nice! 😲

Yeetner 2026-03-05 05:49

I use it to prove my wife right all the time!

RedElmo65 2026-03-05 06:57

Don’t have it in HW 3

MusicAromatic505 2026-03-05 09:19

I don’t use Grøk at all. I don’t see any practical use for it.

princeofthehouse 2026-03-05 10:24

And you don’t find out about this until 5 years later when they randomly bring it up “see I told you you never listen to me, like when you took that slut grok opinion over mine!!!”

princeofthehouse 2026-03-05 10:30

Not true, the things it has said about what it would do to me you won’t believe. All I asked it was what it looked like and that I like my woman dark and African. Also Had it speaking in accents and tones. It’s amazing and I have laughed my head off in shock at what it will say. Some of it granted prompted but some it jumped there first. Love it, part of me wishes its memory was persistent and I hope they do get there.

princeofthehouse 2026-03-05 10:32

Consider for navigation “grok I am feeling hungry, find me a good Italian place to stop at” so on. It’s dynamic nature is brilliant even if you not wanting to use for conversation or entertainment

princeofthehouse 2026-03-05 11:07

I don’t even select sexy mode and she can get down right filthy

Feisty_Crab7052 2026-03-05 11:07

Zero.

Creative_Ad_4809 2026-03-05 16:11

Me and my daughter use it to practice her math sometimes. And she also likes the story time mode. However grok will say it can hear and respond to anyone in the car, but in my experience it can only hear me, every now and then it will hear my daughter.

right164 2026-03-05 16:51

Good idea

Capable_Fly_7422 2026-03-05 17:23

TLDR: I jump start my work day. I work from home in IT. I drive my kids to school every morning, about a 15 minute drive each way. I think about what's coming up at work and typically have questions and/or have options to evaluate. With sufficient context, Grok is sharp af. As long as the car, computer and mobile phone are signed in to the same Grok account, I have access to these conversations on all of my devices. I start chewing through stuff on the way home from school dropoff in the car and pick back up on my phone or computer when I get to my desk.

Capable_Fly_7422 2026-03-05 17:31

Long press on the right steering wheel button doesn't invoke Grok? Asking because I have HW3 and it works like a boss (and find a ton of value in it).

Brave_Wishbone_2436 2026-03-05 20:59

Therapist. Couples therapy. Any time I need a real answer about something not the PC one. Coding occasionally but Gemini is the best at coding.

RedElmo65 2026-03-06 08:33

Huh. Is there a place I have to enable it in settings? I will look again.

Capable_Fly_7422 2026-03-06 16:30

What happens when you long-press on the right steering wheel roller button thing? A tap brings up the normal voice interface, the long press is the key for me to access Grok.

Storkarino 2026-03-06 16:51

So do you...

nnfkfkotkkdkxjake 2026-03-06 17:28

Do go on…

Frankenstein-RedBull 2026-03-11 18:49

This. It's great for navigation. I'm legit always surprised at how good it is at finding places, making adjustments to the route, adding stops, etc.

FitterOver40 2026-03-11 20:23

I use it to agreed. I really like how I can ask Grok to navigate to the closest Starbucks on the way home.
