Hey y’all, thinking to buy MY. The APR is awesome but I just want to make sure I’ll not be screwed by insurance rates. How much y’all paying per month? Currently have Lexus RX 350 and paying $115/month. Btw, I live in Houston, TX. Edit: Thank y’all everyone who shared their thoughts. You are right it sounds like I would like to learn how much y’all paying. Actually I would like to hear some comparing like some of people mentioned that I was driving this and paying this and paying this right now. I mean I am not comparing your premium with mine, I want you to share your own comparison between before Tesla and After Tesla. Thank you

I went from paying 800 every 6 months to 1150. Coming from a 2012 Honda Civic Base to the 2026 model y premium AWD. I was kinda astonished it wasn't higher. I'm 30 with a perfect driving record.

In Los Angeles I'm paying $380 per month. Flawless record, 30 years old. When my policy was up for renewal in December, I was quoted $440 but reduced some coverage to bring it down to my original $230. Rates went up so much and I fucking hate it. $230 was already a tough pill to swallow

NYC $294 per month for MY Juniper. I couldn't pull the trigger and forfeited $250. More than what I'm paying for two cars.

Mid-Ga, 24 y/o, 3 not at fault accidents (One was a deer), 2026 MY premium. I bought the car a couple of days ago, and insurance with Progressive is $223.50 a month. My previous car was a 2017 Subaru Outback 2. 5 lim and my insurance then was $156

In texas as well, around $200 a month with AAA, driving the new 2026 juniper model Y premium AWD

Central Texas I pay about $95/mo for my Y AWD premium. My deductible is $2k

PrizeMeans 2026-03-03 23:26

How is this even possible? I am a 27 year old in LA with a horrible driving record, multiple accidents within 2 years, and I am paying $260 a month.

CummyMonkey420 2026-03-03 23:28

With Tesla insurance?

PrizeMeans 2026-03-03 23:32

Yes, Tesla was the cheapest for me. Everything else was $400+

likethegems 2026-03-03 23:36

$195/m MY premium in southern CA through tesla insurance. Geico, statefarm, mercury were all $300+. I was paying $180 for a Honda CRV

All these prices are useless without knowing what deductible, glass coverage, towing, under insured, etc you want or each person has. Lots of variables and good insurance is expensive.

PA 26M, I pay $170/ for my MS and $135/mo on my MY prem. I also ride a motorcycle and have an at fault accident on my history. $500 deductible on comp and collision. Insurance is through Liberty Mutual Came from paying about $180 on my WRX with worse coverage and $1000 deductibles Realistically apart from your own history it’ll just depend on where you live

lolsupbb 2026-03-04 00:01

What other people pay is going to be wildly different depending on a lot of different factors. Just get quotes from multiple providers and see what it will cost for you.

Call your agent and ask for a quote is your best friend

kokobunji0550 2026-03-04 00:47

Living in VA 165 a month

Minnemize 2026-03-04 00:53

Right. Somebody could say “I’m paying $70/month,”but has the minimum coverage

Sigmabond2 2026-03-04 00:59

1800 for the year for my 24 EV9 GTLine and a 26 MY AWD

KansasKing107 2026-03-04 01:02

Honestly, even the it’s still the shot in the dark. I think the best measure we have is just to know someone’s credit score and deductible.

JustPath3874 2026-03-04 01:06

$165/month in CA for Tesla Y through Tesla Insurance with 250/500k coverage and 500 comprehensive with 1000 collision coverage

justbored858 2026-03-04 01:09

thewetbandits 2026-03-04 01:21

Just get a quote from your current insurance company.

LightxDarkness93 2026-03-04 02:26

Everyone's rate is different fue to alot of factors, age, driving hiatory, etc. Too many variables to compare

Kooter37 2026-03-04 02:33

You can find out what your insurance will cost in about 7 minutes doing a quick search online.

colokan2224 2026-03-04 02:41

Uh, what coverage is it? No way that is comprehensive

No-South-5650 2026-03-04 02:43

what year of your MY?

IamBusha 2026-03-04 02:54

2026. I also don’t have rental car insurance.

FearTheClown5 2026-03-04 03:15

$154/m for a 25 MYP with 100/300/100 coverage, $10,000 medical, uninsured motorist bodily injury(UM property damage barely exists in my state because it isn't required unfortunately) and a $500 deductible through Liberty Mutual. No towing or rental car. We also have a 24 MYP that is $151/m. We do have it combined with home insurance, they were also cheaper than everyone else on that. It took a lot of shopping to find it, was previously at $210/m through Progressive with a $1000 deductible and $800 more a year on home insurance. Vast majority of other companies quoted way higher on both so you've got to shop them all as your variables are different than mine so they'll all give different prices compared to me. Costco and AAA were the only other 2 that came in close on pricing for us. Unfortunately Costco declined due to a couple accidents we had(1 at fault and 1 not at fault hit and run). AAA I opted to pass on due to many reports I saw that they do a big rate increase at your first renewal. I was surprised to find that Liberty actually reduced the price on our auto after the first renewal, likely due to length of time just crossing 3 years on the first accident but still nice to see it go in that direction.

Nreekay 2026-03-04 03:54

USAA doesn’t count. 😂 We all know it’s super cheap and most can’t access 😂😂

colokan2224 2026-03-04 05:24

Damn mine is $350 with a flawless record as well
