148 pages of people trying to fix a suspension rattle and none of Tesla's attempts to solve it have worked [https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/2026-model-y-suspension-rattle.343652/page-148#post-8993814](https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/2026-model-y-suspension-rattle.343652/page-148#post-8993814)

My neighbor has a bad suspension sound over bumps, I actually don't know how they let this go considering how prevalent it is

I traded in a 2023 Rav4 Prime XSE fully loaded for a Model Y Premium AWD. So far I have not been disappointed.
Before making the trade I started a thread mentioning a bunch of things that I had on the Rav that I was worried about losing with the Tesla. To be honest, I've only had the Tesla for 4 days and I don't remember what that list of things was. The only thing I remember is the Rav's built in garage door opener. Still can't believe Tesla doesn't have that but I just stuck one of the old school clicky remotes on my visor and that works fine. I can always install the Homelink adapter myself if I ever decide I want it built into the car but so far I haven't really missed it.
Oh, just remember that Android Auto is missing but the Tesla's built in stuff makes up for it. The only thing I kind of miss is Waze but the day I really need it, I can just stick my phone on a holder next to the touchscreen. So far the Tesla's navigation is routing me away from heavy traffic just as well as Waze did. I miss the police alerts but not much else.
As others have mentioned, there are quite a few reports of noises coming from the front suspension but so far I haven't experienced that, and I've gone over plenty of speed bumps.
I say go for it.

Is it prevalent across all trim levels or more for a certain trim ?

Yeah I just did that with mine and they gave me the runaround and basically said too bad and said everything's fine
JustAcivilian24
2026-03-04 00:48
Even with the steering wheel? I can see how they just ignore the rattle or whatever, but the wheel vibrating is an actual issue that needs to be fixed. I anticipate the same though.

Apparently in service mode they can only get up to 65 or something like that and where the service location is at it's a couple miles to the highway. I'm supposed to go back this weekend and test drive it with them. They had the car themselves because they broke the driver's window trying to fix the squeak.

I received my 26 AWD Premium today and everything was perfect. The drive was surprisingly smooth and quiet, no defects or noticeable issues. The suspension was really amazing. I’ll drive more to observe but so far so good. I’ll say you go for it.

I have 2 Junipers. One of them has no issues (that I know of), built in September '25. The other one, built in August '25, has had 3 issues: front passenger window had a slight delamination, the tailgate was letting water in around the tail light. Both fixed. The current issue is a knocking noise coming from the front end. I'm trying to self diagnose it; I just got a lift so I can get under there.

What happens if you have the rattle and you don't fix? Is there a long term serious consequences? I don't know if I have it because I don't know what to look for, or what to listen for, and I don't much about cars. I don't feel any weird thing on mine, but it's possible I might have it if it's that common. Guess my question is, what's the worst case scenario if I have it and not get it fixed?

You would know if you have it. It’s pretty loud and very obvious. No one knows what the actual issue is so it’s impossible to know if it’s a safety issue or has long term consequences. But there’s nothing that can be done yet because they don’t have a fix.

I don’t really have any rattles 10 months in. The car makes a noise when it goes over big bumps but I feel like that’s pretty normal. Pretty sure every car I’ve driven makes a noise when it goes over bumps. Not sure if that’s the suspension clunk but whatever.
I do have a piercing brake squeak that’s been happening recently at slow speeds when using the friction brake. Also had a high pitched whistling noise when driving over 60 mph but that might have gone away on its own. I need to check on that noise without music on.

It’s the lumbar support. Easily fixed by removing the back of the seat and covering the right side rod with tape, anything to cushion the rod. Did it in mine a few weeks after picking it up

Had issue with WINDOW REGULATOR which was fixed
Had issues with Front suspension which arose around 1.5k miles which was fixed by replacing Front Upper Control Arm, I don’t think I hear it now, but I will wait for few hundreds of miles and get back to you with an update.

DIY? Does the seat cover unzip or something?
RibbedGoliath
2026-03-04 21:57
You remove the headrest which has two clips and that essentially unlocks the top portion of the rear of the seat, which is all plastic, and you can slowly pull off the rear of the seat which gives you access to all of the mechanisms. The two lumbar support rods go up either side of the seat and for some reason where it goes through the plastic piece, which is supposed to isolate and prevent sounds that’s where it creeks.
I just placed strips of black electrical tape on the rod where it goes through the bushing and it solved the squeaking and creaking, but be damn careful because the sheet metal within the back of the seat is like a razor blade and I cut myself twice
