From what I understand, the Intel setup feels significantly slower than the Ryzen, but I haven't personally experienced it.

Would be a deal breaker for me. With Intel you cant even really watch youtube

Limited updates with intel. Software will be stuck in 2023.

I know I say I’ll probably never be watching YouTube in my car but I know once I’m in the situation it’ll most likely be different lol

Are you on intel now?

It's noticable if you always interface with it, but once you drive you don't care. It's software upgrades going forward. You may not get it right away or at all. You still will get bug fixes.
I'd go drive one. Buying used, you should anyways. Also if you are coming from a early 2000s car, it'll be quite an upgrade techwise. Current Teslas have a 4 year basic warranty so 2026 I'd expect alot of 2022s dropping in price. That's my strategy for my 2023 Model 3. Start car shopping 2 years before battery warranty and get rid of it one year prior.

I have both model Y, Intel and AMD. Intel is so slow loading the dash cam viewer. Half a minute versus under 5 seconds.

I haven't driven one of the Ryzen cars but I've got a 2021 Model Y with the Intel processor. I think you'll see a difference if you want to watch Youtube and play video games, but for driving I don't have any issues.

Not a deal breaker for me. Everything has a price, with a big enough discount, I'd get the Intel. Normal every day driving, I don't notice a difference.

I do all of this in mine and watch Netflix too with no issues.

I wish the used inventory on Teslas website gave us info on that processor they had

Yea I’m thinking AMD is for like those extra tech savvy people who want the latest and greatest. Which Sony get me wrong I would love to as well but it’s not like a phone. Upgrading that often on a car is unrealistic (for me)

I wish teslas used inventory stock came with the info and what processor they had

I have one of each. Definitely don’t buy Intel if you are planing on getting FSD.

I agree and I don't think ppl here are very realistic in that aspect, hell you go some places and your phone barely has signal, why on earth would you expect your car to be an always connected, pocket hot spot. Here I am, still happy in my HW3 with the "outdated" chip 😂

That's not true. If you have good Internet there is no issue there.
Where it does become an issue is that there are virtually no more updates for Intel. What you see is what you get from it.

The car drives fine with the Intel processor.

I've used them both side by side and the Intel is much slower than the Ryzen. The Ryzen is snappy and quick, the Intel has lots of lag when using apps (Netflix, Youtube, Browser) or displaying video streams. I noticed the Intel also dropped frames when reversing using the reversing camera.
When you're actually driving it doesn't make so much difference. It's mostly when you're parked up and charging that you notice it.
Personally I'd try to find a Ryzen. That way you can expect a lot longer software support. The Intel has pretty much all the features it will ever get. But for driving they are both fine.

Same. Just got FSD on my 19 M3 and have been rather impressed.

Processor has nothing to do with FSD. FSD uses either HW3 or HW4, a diferent computer. Intel Vs AMD is for the infortainment screen.
For FSD get HW4 - all HW4 come with AMD and begin mid-2023 for the Model Y and 2024 for Model 3.

We have both a Model 3 with Intel and a Y with AMD. The main advantage beyond speed of AMD is the Groc voice AI assistant. That may come to Intel or it may not.
We use Groc all the time. It is very helpful at finding things along the route or deciding answers to questions that pop up while driving.

Yes
Don’t listen to anyone about the advantages today. It’s the advantages tomorrow that matter. Get a hardware 4 AMD and don’t look back. Most new features will utilize amd and hw4, makes no sense to develop for old tech besides keeping the basics good
The intel will be a very good car but will likely always be capped compared to the amd

Had it up to 2025 and it’s awful. First, you don’t get same visualizations and even keyboard feels laggy. Apps such as YouTube and Netflix is not very usable either. But if you’re just using maps, it’s fine.

No Grok with Intel.
Slight lag in all visuals on the screen. Launch something and wait extra for it to load up. Also shift into reverse and wait a bit for rear camera to display.

I’d pick the Ryzen over intel… just because
That said, I have an intel processor from 2021 and it really doesn’t affect much in my day to day. Basic animations and no grok

I could be wrong on this but most 22 mylr should have amd. To be sure get a March or later build

Grok won't work on older Intel 2021 cars, keep that in mind.

AFAIK the AMD cars are the only ones that can display the car in full-screen whereas the Intel cars can only do the split screen of the car and map

You'll only notice the difference if you have both. However, the Intel is very usable as long as you stick to driving, maps, and Spotify, which is 99% of my use case.

How old are the Ryzen processors in say new 2026 models? Are they still the exact same processor as the 2022 ones or have they been refreshed?

I believe the Ryzen processors are the same since 2022 when MCU3 was released.
