Wanted to thank the user who said to get the the inspection done before it ends and to also check links.

I'm actually waiting in the Tesla service center as I write this. I really wanted to thank the user who had wrote on one of the post about extended warranty. I'm sitting at 49,600 miles (2023). I was reading post to see if the extended was worth it. It seems like a split on what everyone feels about it. Anyways he suggested to schedule an inspection and add to check the links. So I did and my inspection came back with my links being pretty bad as they showed me it was cracking. However there was a mixup about me saying I wanted an inspection for the extended and the advisor saying I would have to pay $1900 to get it fixed for the extended. I told her that I was not interested in the extended and i was here for my car inspection and that my notes did say an inspection along with the links. She went on that the regular inspection was $500 instead of the warranty inspection that I was quoted at ($165). Not sure why they would be different. It went on for a bit and I had to make it clear that since I'm still under 50000 miles that it should be covered no matter what. She said she would have to talk to her manager. 10 minutes later she comes back and said they will fix it and and would only pay the original inspection fee. So THANK YOU! I went to find the post but couldn't find it so I made this one. THANK YOU. You saved me $1900.

Hi, that might have been me! Glad to hear it all worked out for you! https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaLounge/s/IAsA2AtEfe

Probably a pretty good move doing the bait and switch. What can they really do?

Shobed 2026-02-28 18:31

My Tesla service center wants to charge $700 to do a vehicle health inspection. They said they don’t do pre warranty expiration inspections.

noconoco42 2026-02-28 19:35

Yes that was you. Thank you very much. You saved me!

noconoco42 2026-02-28 20:12

Update: These were the notes. Technician Notes: Our technician performed a comprehensive vehicle inspection as requested due to the upcoming warranty expiration. We identified wear and damage in the front link bushings during the evaluation. To address this, we replaced the front lower lateral links on both sides and the front lower compliance links on both sides, followed by a post-repair validation test drive. The repair was confirmed to be successful through a thorough check, ensuring all components are functioning properly.

TeaMountain3897 2026-02-28 20:31

Sorry to hear that, if possible, it might be worth trying a different service centre. I had a similar situation with my Model 3 where I was quoted £99 in the app, but after they replaced the suspension parts, they waived the fee entirely. It really seems to come down to who you end up dealing with.

saecocadmus 2026-02-28 20:41

My father in law did the same thing and he’s getting his links replaced under warranty

General_Diag4321 2026-02-28 21:16

🙂

Bickenchutt05 2026-02-28 21:21

Bro, same and they replaced everything in the rear! They had to order the parts. I did it because of that post. My wife’s 23MYLR had 48k when I sent hers in. The fee cost me $860 for them to look at it though, but well worth it.

jmwelch73 2026-02-28 21:55

Seems to me if the inspection proves warranted it should fall under WARRANTY. Unscrupulous charges imo.

cheapdvds 2026-02-28 22:24

where is that? That's awful.

kaddiexjc 2026-02-28 22:27

Do you need to schedule such service months in advance? Previously my appointments with Tesla service always need to wait months.

noconoco42 2026-02-28 22:31

Usually for me appointments are usually 2 to 3 weeks out for the weekends. You can probably get in on the weekday about 1 week or 2.

Shobed 2026-02-28 22:41

Lake Elmo, MN

winglow 2026-03-01 00:17

call neighboring service centers until you can get an appointment. Some cities and areas are just always backed up but you can go 20 miles away and get service right away

SenorDos 2026-03-01 02:36

Thanks for reporting on this! My 2023 is at 42k miles so I'm going to schedule an inspection in the next couple of months.

Royal_Cod_6088 2026-03-01 02:40

Same here - I just took my 2022 MYO in, made the cutoff by 3 days. Also had bad links and bushings, they replaced it all under warranty. They even waived the inspection fee. It was a problem I didn't even know I had (but would have presented itself in about a year according to the tech). Many thanks to the community

autopilot6236 2026-03-01 02:56

Was this in front or rear? Control arm bushings?

right164 2026-03-01 03:21

Total bullshit 😡

SpiritedAd2048 2026-03-01 03:32

I ended up getting the extended warranty, starting December 2025 for my M3LR 2023. Do you think I still have the option of getting this inspection done proactively? Or am I out of luck since the original warranty has already expired.

afridorian 2026-03-01 03:54

what language did you use to book it?

Fog80 2026-03-01 05:38

I’m in the same boat with a 2023 with 45k. Starting to hear some clunks when turning and a noise every time I stop and go like the brake is engaging. What do I need to schedule to get this looked at under warranty?

noconoco42 2026-03-01 06:29

Front lower lateral links on both sides and the front lower compliance links on both sides

DonDee74 2026-03-01 06:37

hmmm... so this is the 5 year 50k mi warranty, correct? I also have a 23 MYLR but still <30k mi. I guess I can wait a couple of more years. Are there any noticeable symptoms to indicate it should be inspected and replaced?

6100315 2026-03-01 06:39

What did you say, that you wanted a warranty inspection with links checked? I'm about a month from scheduling mine.

DetailCharacter3634 2026-03-01 08:42

My Model S Raven went out of warranty two years ago, but I got a 4-year extended warranty thrown in for free as a Tesla good will gesture when I purchased it for the churn I went through rejecting my original Raven because of paint defects Tesla was so famous for a few years back. Of course, I never had an inspection done, but whatever breaks between now and 2028 will cost me only the $100 deductible.  Indeed, the half shafts broke and had to be replaced last year.  I would have had to pay $2.6k; paid $100 only instead. My 2022 MYP likewise went out of warranty last December, and once again it dit not occur to me to have it inspected :(, but it has very low mileage, not even 20k. What I did do instead was purchase the Tesla extended 4-year whatever-mileage-it-is warranty. No upfront cost; $60 a month pay as you go, plus $100 deductible per claim, cancel any time.  $60 a month for complete peace of mind and only  $100 OOP was more than worth it to me.  Nothing seems wrong with my MYP.

DigitalJEM 2026-03-01 10:05

Then you tell them via chat (so you have written documentation of it….. “it feels loose and abnormal and I have SAFETY concerns”.

DigitalJEM 2026-03-01 10:08

u/Heffeweizen Thanks from me too!! Also saved me (and my links and bushings)

Royal_Cod_6088 2026-03-01 10:54

"My warranty is about to expire. I'd like you to inspect the car including all bushings and links. I hear a thumping in the rear when I go over bumps, and the front end feels sloppy." My main warranty expired 2/22, I made this service request in-app on 2/20, they did the work on 2/26 but honored warranty and waived inspection fee due to the request being made prior to warranty expiration. This was in Orlando, FL (Eatonville Service Center). They did not provide a loaner or Uber credit

zaq1xsw2cde 2026-03-01 14:55

I find Tesla Service to sound really sketchy based on lots of anecdotes here. I scheduled an at home tire rotation this week, and if they show up and try to charge double, it’ll be the last time I ever get their service.

Shobed 2026-03-01 15:17

The one time I used mobile service (one of the side cameras died and they replaced it under warranty) the guy was great. In my experience, it’s the service centers that try to screw you.

noconoco42 2026-03-01 15:25

Since you have the extended warranty i dont see why they wouldn't do it. Although I'm seeing that everyone has different results with each service center. But go ahead and request service and see what they say.

noconoco42 2026-03-01 15:32

There's a post by u/Heffeweizen that originally led me to ask for the inspection. It's linked in this thread also. Check it out.

noconoco42 2026-03-01 15:36

Yup. There's a post by u/Heffeweizen that originally led me to ask for the inspection thays extremely helpful. It's linked in this thread also. Check it out.

noconoco42 2026-03-01 15:38

I didn't notice anything big. No.

afridorian 2026-03-01 18:15

thank you! i have a few months left on mine so ill give this a shot.

D34DZ0N3 2026-03-01 21:36

Does anyone have experience getting the links replaced under warranty if they aren't making any "sounds or clicking"? I had a inspection done last year and they recommended "replacing the front and lateral compliance links due to wear and tear" but wanted to charge me ~$1200 for it but I declined. I then saw posts where people had their links replaced under warranty so I scheduled an appointment at another service center and they told me unless it's making a noise or causing an issue they wouldn't replace them under warranty. I'm located in the So-Cal area with 1,200 mi left on my warranty.

ajn63 2026-03-01 22:18

When I scheduled a warranty inspection last summer the fee was $150 and they zero’s it out when they found defective parts that were replaced under warranty. Seems like each service center has its own rules.

noconoco42 2026-03-01 22:23

Yeah, kinda frustrating.

SingleMalt1900 2026-03-01 22:41

Thanks for the post and keeping us informed.

Heffeweizen 2026-03-01 23:26

I'm in SoCal and got it done for free under warranty. No sounds and no symptoms. Go here... https://maps.app.goo.gl/zSzRGVsrWWPaRkwK6 My original post... https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaLounge/s/wF5eCtR30G

D34DZ0N3 2026-03-02 01:54

Thank you! I will try to schedule an appointment with them

[deleted] 2026-03-02 13:49

Anyone got this done in Seattle?

Floating_Bus 2026-03-02 19:29

Joining this conversation late… I’m looking at a 23 MY performance. Are there things I can see visually that might be an issue at 25k miles? Thanks in advance.

Heffeweizen 2026-03-02 20:41

Not really. But you'd still be under warranty

Floating_Bus 2026-03-02 20:44

Good point.
