Go to the app and click on the “start charging” button. That overrides the schedule.

lol no I meant like I'm usually on my routine and don't typically meed to override the schedule however, In the rare occasion that I need a little extra charge when my scheduled time is hours away, I just wanna quickly start the charge rather than opening the door or having to pull out my phone opening the app etc. (yes lazy I know) 😅
Just wanna see if there's a quick way to override and start charge the moment I plug in.

So you want to walk out to the car in the garage or driveway to push a button on the charge handle 10 times rather than open the app on your phone?

lol no. When I get out of my car, I typically close the door and plug in. Rather than plugging in and having to re open the door or pull out my phone, i am asking if there is a way to start charging the moment I plug in by perhaps clicking the button a certain number of times or something.

It would be handy as you arrive home / scheduled charger and are plugging in your vehicle. Not a huge pain to dig out your phone and do it from the app, but a physical button would be faster and more convenient. And it is already there for unlocking the chargeport. But it’s kind of a niche use case.

You might be able to set a series of "events" an app like Tessie could register as a trigger for an action, but nothing official

If you want to override the schedule, turn off the scheduled start time from your phone or the car.
Go to Schedules.
Scroll down to the Charging section.
Toggle the relavent entry from On to Off.
One of the reasons Tesla wouldn't have added some override method for the charge method from the handle is because it introduces a safety or security issue that can be exploited by nefarious passersby.

I’ve never experienced this. When I get out of the car and close the door, I grab the charger and press the button on the grip to open the charge port, plug it in and it immediately starts charging. The. A few hours later I get an alert on my phone that charging is complete.

Yeah I know but I schedule my charges overnight as that's when the rates are the cheapest. If I charge mid day it's expensive. However in some cases where I'm out and about during the day, come back home and knowing I need to go out again later and I need to charge a little, I need to override the charge schedule.

Now I understand. The only way I know is to override from phone app.
