Out of warranty fix for "USB drive not available" in Model Y? (Glovebox port issue)

I’m having a persistent issue with my Model Y where Sentry Mode and Dashcam say "USB drive not available." I’ve confirmed the USB drive itself is working fine on my computer, but the car just won't see it. After some digging, it seems like a common issue where the USB cable/harness behind the glovebox gets loose or pinched from the repeated opening and closing of the box. I’m officially out of warranty, and Tesla Service wants a $300 diagnostic fee just to look at it (not including parts/labor). Before I bite the bullet: • Has anyone fixed this themselves? How hard is it to drop the glovebox to reach the harness? If you’ve successfully DIY'd this or have a cheaper workaround, I’d love to hear it. Really don't want to pay $300+ for a loose wire! Thanks in advance!

Have you tried a different usb drive? Same thing happened to me. I bought a replacement and it’s been good for a few years now.

Ya I did try a different. It would connect until I closed the glovebox then show the disconnected notification again.

You can remove the lock panel from the passenger side an expose where the connection is to the harness for the glovebox USB. I’d buy that replacement harness and try it from there without investing the time of taking everything else apart. If memory serves, it’s just USB mini so you might only need a usb mini to usb a female adaptor to test it out.

Awesome thanks for the recommendation. Any specific Amazon links to buy the harness?
