Grok needs work

Terrible_Tutor | 2026-02-26 19:41 | 1 views

Ignoring the “problems” with it, having a thing to talk to about stuff in the car is cool. The PROBLEM is that once it starts fucking going off in the wrong direction you can’t interrupt it reliably to have it stop and steer it back to what you need. Not to mention it’s overly verbose with the replies. It’s so far from conversational, it feels very one sided. Not sure if it’s the mics not being able to pick me up because it’s yammering in still or what but at least put a button somewhere I can press to tell it to stop talking and listen again.

You can tell hit how to reply. Better if you make an account

Swipe down and it quits. Agree, it's very annoying. IIf you ask it a question and don't swipe it away, it will interrupt your in car conversation with passengers.

That’s not what i want though. I want to have a conversation back and forth with it about technical work details and news. But it’ll just go off talking about the wrong thing and not let me interrupt it to steer it back. If you swipe it away all the chat memory is gone and you’re starting over.

Telling it how to reply doesn’t fix the core issue of not being able to shut it the heck up to move it back on track. For example, asking it about Punta Cana, it hears Putin, and starts a 30 second diatribe off in left field and no amount of yelling at it triggers the interruption mode to listen again for more instructions. So do i swipe it away then have to chuck 10 minutes of previous context… i mean maybe but that’s annoying.

I think the UX needs some work. You should be able to double tap to bring up or dismiss.

I think there needs to be a lot of refinements but this is a big one very annoying it kinda yabbers on when it needs to just close out after the destination is locked in and its correct. I feel like when they start going back to adding things to the infotainment system such as carplay which they are actively working on now.

Terrible_Tutor 2026-02-26 22:34

Pumped for that just for the apple maps integration

We should be able to totally disable it.

IamBusha 2026-02-26 23:46

You should report it to Tesla. Doing it on Reddit doesn’t fix anything

Terrible_Tutor 2026-02-27 00:21

…how then, Twitter? That doesn’t do shit either.

hoppeeness 2026-02-27 02:34

That makes no sense. You can. Don’t use it.

hoppeeness 2026-02-27 02:35

I don’t have this issue. But I do have an account so as the other person mentioned…maybe that’s why

Terrible_Tutor 2026-02-27 04:50

I have an account as well, not paid, but an account. Look it doesn’t always ignore me interrupting it, sometimes it works, often it doesn’t at all and it’s the most annoying when that happens. So good for you not having the issue, maybe it’s your car or year models mic placement or speakers, no idea… but it blows to use here

How do you get those free on android?

ReaditorRedditor 2026-02-27 20:33

https://vanced.to/

Ah, ok cool.  Looks like a patched apk.  I only use those on Firestick.  I'll stick to the ad based Spotify and maybe do the $5/mo Sirius.  For now sirius is actually working.  Not sure how long till they force me to subscribe.  And yeah, the volume from the sirius app is ridiculously low.
