Yes, but that's a lot of money per month just to park your car for you.

Yea it would be a waste of money to just use it for parking only.

I did exactly that during my test drive. I did test FSD in the street but when I got to a parking lot I turned FSD off and was able to get it to autopark. When driving by available parking spaces with FSD off, the P showed up on available spots, I selected the one I wanted and it backed into it.

To get what you specifically describe here, You'd have to be paying for a FSD subscription, then never use it other than when parking, which is kind of a waste of money in my opinion. FSD is so good and easy to activate and deactivate, might as well subscribe and use it at least sometimes!

Yes you would not even have to have FSD "enabled" at all. Although FSD does self parking, It's not exactly the same as the regular self parking where you pick a specific parking spot on the screen. The FSD package just enables the regular self parking.

That's why should just breakout the full suite and lower the price. Like may $50 for full FSD, $10 for Parking assist only, $20 for auto pilot only, etc.

Unless you’re really terrible at parking, it’s not worth it. I park faster and better than FSD, which often makes unnecessary extra moves. It also parks slower than my grandmother.

Why would they do that? Are you under the mistaken impression that Tesla (or indeed any business) is motivated by altruism?

So you’ll be paying $100/month for FSD to do what it’s worst at?

That’s just wishful thinking. Of course they’re not charging less, they’re basically monopoly. This is why other manufacturers should try to compete at least.

I'm hoping I can teach it to back into my garage, even if it means putting white tape down to create what looks like a parking space. It's a very tight garage with another car on one side and the wall on the other side with just about 6 inches between the side of the car and the wall. With my current car I angle in, then straighten out and end up with the edge of the passenger side mirror touching a large TV box I attached to the wall to have a buffer to make sure I don't accidentally scrape the wall.
Generally, backing into it isn't an issue but sometimes I get home at 3 a.m. after being up since 5 a.m. and having worked two jobs and backing into it when I'm that beat to shit can be a pain.
I don't know if this would be asking too much from Autopark but I'm gonna give it a try during the day to see how it handles it.

Here - I found this video of someone demonstrating exactly what you're talking about. He's manually driving around the parking lot and when he picks a spot to park in, he has the car autopark.

If you have FSD it will give you the auto park option in parking lots. You don’t have to have FSD engaged at all.

If it doesn't detect that it has the accepted clearance on both sides of the car it will no autopark.
