FSD is basically there for me.

I won't even use autopilot due to the wipers being overused. I don't hate driving enough to give a shit.

Never used autopilot- so 🤷‍♂️

Use autopilot all the time. One of the best features for me.

I’ve never used Autopilot - I have a Lunch Edition and FSD was included. It’s disappointing that they discontinued autopilot for new cars - Tesla is dropping the ball for not having a free autopilot system. I’m thinking they may have a limited FSD level in the future that is free, or baked in to the premium connectivity.

I use FSD a lot on my 100 mile per day commute. I like it but I’m frustrated with how it recognizes (or doesn’t) speed limit changes.  Examples-  Going from 55 to 65: won’t recognize that the speed limit has changed so I have to bump it up to hurry until it catches up.  Going from 65 to 55: the car notices the change but never slows down so I have to take it down manually by going into chill mode or taking it off FSD entirely.  When it works properly, it’s great. When it doesn’t change speeds to align with speed limit- very annoying.

I must be lucky or more forgiving/oblivious with regard to speed - or it might have to do with the mapping in my area. Speed consistency seems to be a common complaint - definitely something they need to iron out before going full unsupervised.

Autopilot is absolute garbage for me. It’s either FSD when I pay for it or driving myself. The car is fun to drive so it never feels like a chore. FSD is amazing when I do a road trip though.

In other words, you don’t know enough about Tesla’s driver’s various assist software options to discuss it with the rest of us who use it. Autopilot and Enhanced Autopilet were supposed to be the marketing funnel for FSD, but it hasn’t worked out that way.  They took EAP off the menu and surfed autopilot. Also, the FSD free trials went poorly for me in my actual car on the actual roads that I drive — what I experienced was barely proof-of-concept grade software, not even ready for alpha or beta testing. I’ve driven Autopilot, EAP, and FSD during the free trials. Of the three, EAP required the fewest interventions for me, in my actual car, on actual roads. But Tesla took EAP off the menu to try to sell FSD subscriptions.  EAP is available as a software option you can choose in the configuration menu if you subscribe to FSD, so you can try it if you want to come up to speed on Tesla’s offerings.  However, I’m not paying $100/month for either EAP or FSD because the value just isn’t there — EAP should be included with the car (to reach feature-parity with competitors) or with my connectivity subscription (because all of that together is worth $10/month). I look forward to your impressions of all four tiers (none, Autopilot, EAP, and FSD) as you explore Tesla’s offerings.  EAP is the clear winner in my driving environs.

FSD can’t read speed limit signs in my part of Illinois, either.

Groundbreaking_Box75 2026-02-25 22:12

Sorry you had a poor experience with FSD. My experience couldn’t be better and I use it daily. I trust it with my life and my families lives. I wouldn’t say I don’t know enough about Teslas driver assist software - I’ve logged around 14,000 miles with it - but I’m not going to try and sell you on it, I’m just relating my experience. Again, sorry that FSD doesn’t meet your needs - there are other cars out there that you could give a try. Good luck.

Are they actually reading signs with the cameras or are they using other data? My car is so consistent about missing the same signs every time no matter what lane I’m in.

It’s unclear.  I suspect that Tesla has tried multiple approaches during the time I’ve owned the car, with some significant regressions. I notice the problem with incorrect speed limits most in the perpetual construction zone on my way back in to the small city where I live.  That’s where FSD tried to drive 77mph in a 45mph zone. There is also a direct high-efficiency route between here and Evansville Indiana that Tesla thinks is a 35mph road that’s actually 55mph.  If you’re driving at 35mph on that road, you’d best be driving a tractor.  Since that’s about a 3 hour drive (the majority of which is on that two-lane road) the only Tesla driver assistance that I can use over that segment of my journey is traffic-aware-cruise-control. I suspect that Tesla was leading speed limit signs when I bought the car in 2022, but that they’re now relying exclusively on mapping data — much of which is incomplete when it comes to Illinois Prairie Crossings. …And, of course, prairie crossings are the main task I’d want FSD for…  Traffic in my mind-metro-area doesn’t suck.

I use it a lot, currently at about 85%+ utilization since upgrade to V14. Navigation still frustrating. Can't wait until I can use Grok to give commands to the car.
