we got our Y due to FSD. It has helped de-stress my wife's daily office commute.

It’s more stressful for me, but driving has always been a simple task for me and I could drive a car at about 8 years old. I admit it’s incredibly impressive technology and kinda fun in moments but I didn’t care for letting it drive me to work.

Same for me. I just wanted an electric car but landed on a Model Y because of a lot of reasons (simple design, range, charging network to name a few). FSD wasn’t really on my radar but I drive 100 miles per day and spend two hours doing it. FSD has been such a gift.

I love it so much. My commute is about 50 minutes round trip which isn’t even that bad and I like my job but I hate driving, it is one of the biggest sources of anxiety in my life. My Tesla has made me so much more independent.

Just be aware that when an automated system works 80% of the time people assume it works 100% of the time.
I've had enough instances of phantom breaking in a Tesla that I recommend everyone still pay attention.

Same. I live in a busy metro and too much activity for it to react fast and well.
I see people using self parking at the superchargers and it takes them like 20-30 seconds. Maybe I’m jus impatient
Asleep_Maybe_3917
2026-02-25 03:53
Yea that’s another reason. I don’t like the idea of making people wait. In fact consideration in general is part of my issue. It does other inconsiderate things.

If my employer paid for the car, I would buy it.
Not worth the liability and price until it no longer needs an insurance policy.

Had 4 Porsches before the current Cayenne Turbo. Recently bought my wife a Y Performance with FSD.
Funny thing: I find myself driving her Tesla in FSD more than my Porsche. I did not see that comin.

Fsd increases my stress 1000%. Poor lane changes, can't keep up with traffic / goes to fast
It's just not worth it in any form.
ZubacToReality
2026-02-25 09:00
It would be a game changer if it let me do something other than pay attention cause then I can just… drive. It’s completely pointless to me since you have to supervise it otherwise it freaks out and disables you.
FSD should make you a passenger instead it hold you hostage. I genuinely don’t understand the benefit beyond a novelty, can someone explain?
Affectionate_Town273
2026-02-25 12:01
What version are you using? I am on latest version and have zero phantom breaking. I have FSD in both a 26MY and 26M3P.
Tesla may have a somewhat bad reputation for some reasons but I will say this, best vehicles I have owned. No homer BS either. Everyone I take for a drive in them realizes the same thing.

I don't have to be constantly watching traffic like a hawk and navigating lane changes and merges, sudden stops, watching for obstacles, maintaining appropriate distance... Car does it all. I pay attention only enough to intervene if absolutely needed (which is extremely rare for me), and watch my speed through things like construction zones. Because I don't really have to pay 100% attention, I can actually listen to my audiobook or whatever, and instead of coming home exhausted from my hour commute, I've gotten to relax a bit and am refreshed.

Unfortunately, supervised fsd doesn't exactly let you reclaim the time totally. What it did do is take that mental load off. It's hard to describe really, but there's a mental fatigue that driving for hours on end causes when you have to be 100% paying attention.

My wife has a fear of driving on interstate highways which more than doubled her commute. FSD nullified that fear.
Fit_Employment_2595
2026-02-25 15:12
Whether you realize it or not, your brain takes on a lot of mental load driving, especially stop and go traffic. Letting the car drive while you supervise cuts down on alot of it.

2026-02-25 16:44
Although I don’t mind and actually enjoy driving, you’re correct that it does sort of tire you even on a good drive. Gotta do that thing where you get out of the car and really stretch and then notice how you need a break from thinking for a bit

Just went on a 4 hour road trip with my GF. Felt like being on an airplane and just a passenger.
I also can’t lie. I have a phone mount that connects to the driver side door below the window control. FSD doesn’t recognize when I look at it.

I haven’t had a phantom break (on hw4) in nearly a year. That’s using FSD every single day almost exclusively.

lol same, it went on the highway the other day and changed lanes 4 times to get over to HOV and then had to immediately start changing back because the exist was 1.5 miles from where I got on... I was like WTF ARE YOU DOING but wanted to see what it would do
colokan2224

Because people who gush about it arent really supervising it. They are just starting blankly out the windshield while their mind is elsewhere...

Yeah, I’ve never experienced phantom braking on HW4. Though, I almost thought I did today, and then realized the car did a split sec brake stab for a squirrel that ran across. And then I was just in awe. Lol
