Odds of a loaner vehicle?

Toreroguysd | 2026-02-24 20:10 | 7 views

I have my car going in for warranty service soon. I’ve been told a loaner vehicle may be available to me but cannot be guaranteed. I have a turnaround to drop off my car and make a work obligation. What are people’s experiences in getting loaner vehicles? Should I be okay or should I plan on backup transportation? I’m not in a major coastal city, more in the Rocky Mountain region.

ALWAYS plan for backup transportation...

No one on here is going to have realtime access to this information. So are you on here to just hear other people’s experiences that will in no way correlate to your situation?

good luck. i had a warranty repair, scheduled multiple weeks out and still no loner.

FWIW, I always drop mine at opening regardless of appointment time and have always gotten a car because it’s first come first serve. I’d rather leave it there all day than not get a loaner.

Perfect, this is helpful! Thanks!

>turnaround to drop off my car and make a work obligation There's your problem. Sounds like you want to blame Tesla if you cannot make it to work. You should just take the day off.

Honestly, I’ve never not had a loaner.

Omg I can’t believe I didn’t think of this. Of course! Just take a day off work! Thank you oh helpful and insightful Reddit Citizen.

It’s just random. If they have one you get one if they don’t you don’t. Always plan to not get one

Thank you. I’m new to all this. When Acura told me I’d get a loaner, I could always count on it. Apparently Tesla is different.

Whenever the service center sent me the "a loaner may be available", Ive gotten one. Sometimes they dont say that. Those times, they were always out. Get there early and your chances increase.

Show up at the service center when it opens. Be the first customer of the day. It’s my understanding loaners are first come first serve.

50/50 at best. Don't plan on having a car.

What are you having done during the visit? Typically only service visits longer than 3 hours get a loaner.

A raft of warranty claims: my rear seats don’t fold don’t on button press, I get water intrusion into the frunk tub itself after rain or car wash, my charger port door is misaligned, my driver seat squeaks like mad when it’s adjusted, headliner is separating from trim back by the rear hatch. They quoted me a few days’ turnaround.
