They make hammocks that do exactly this, but beware that they don’t offer any sort of protection to your dog. If you are in an accident, your dog could go flying.

The one that Tesla sells in the accessory shop works great.  It is a hammock style and it comes with door panel covers.   I usually keep mine in the storage under the rear deck.  It comes with a nice zipper case. The only drawback is that the door panel covers don’t stay in place super well if you adjust the rear windows since they attach with a tab that slides between the window and the window gasket.

Has anyone just let the dogs in the backseat without any cover? Did the vegan leather hold up to their nails?

Thanks for the responses, a hard bottom is important to us, and we'll certainly keep our GR secure with a harness and tether.
