Lights on while charging?

Big724jan | 2026-02-23 20:54 | 1 views

Drove our gas car last night and when arriving home after dark, we found my Y in the driveway with full headlights on, seemingly running as it was actively charging. I googled why were headlights on and it said they do that while charging. Never have I seen this happen before. I also checked and the setting for the headlights is on "auto". Any ideas? I ended up getting in and connecting to my Bluetooth and only then did the lights go off. Btw, charging showed as complete so I dont believe it was actively charging afterall.

From another post, you might double check  In the manual it says (substitute Y for 3): *Headlights After Exit When Headlights after Exit is on, the exterior headlights remain on when you stop driving and park Model 3 in low lighting conditions. They automatically turn off after one minute or when Model 3 locks. When off, headlights turn off when you engage Park and open a door.*

How long did the lights remain on? Was it that one time or does it happen always? Sometimes the systems glitch, and it is hard to fix when it is hard to recreate. I have "walk away lock" enabled and it always always works, but the other day I had parked 200ft or so from a restaurant, went in for food and about 15 min later got a notification from the app saying that car doors were open/unlocked (didn't remember the exact words). there was no other phone left in the car, and it has happened only once in 3 years. Point is, sometimes software has glitches. if it isn't a regular bug then there's not much that anyone can do about it.
