2026 MY Juniper giving 200 miles on full charge

Pure_Growth8539 | 2026-02-23 05:53 | 1 views

This is MY's first winter in north east and the range has reduced considerably. I just use for 20 miles in a day and battery is reduced by 10% every day consistently during winters. Which means a range of 200 for full charge. And this is all city driving with no use of brakes (I use only in emergencies) hence making full use of regenerative braking and always drive on chill mode. Is this normal or shall I get it checked?

Come on.

Depends on how cold? Was it preconditioned? How high is your heat, etc…lots of factors to consider.

Defnotserp 2026-02-23 05:59

lol. Severe cold greatly decreases your range.

Imagine typing out this many words when one sentence in google would have gotten you the answer.

anionyx 2026-02-23 06:09

That’s normal because at only 20 miles the battery is cold twice for short distances. I’m sure your range is not 200 miles. I also agree with precondition and schedule your car to see close to the range you expect but my 26 model Y uses about 15% on my 40 mile commute and that seems normal. I’m fortunate enough to have home charging so I never pay much mind but if you go in a longer trip you’ll see much better range.

Yup, EV batteries hate extreme temperatures. It is a known fact that range is significantly degraded, and sometimes Regen braking can be limited too at times.

Pure_Growth8539 2026-02-23 06:44

google said it's not normal. lol

Pure_Growth8539 2026-02-23 06:45

No precondition as I charge at home. Heat is 68F and outside is around 25-35F.

Pure_Growth8539 2026-02-23 06:47

yea, longer trip gives about 230-240 miles on full charge.

anionyx 2026-02-23 06:55

If you’re only getting 230 miles at 100% that seems odd. Maybe schedule a service. Actually drive the 230 miles to see if that’s true range. Even with the low single digits in the Northeast this winter I’ve gotten over 300 miles range one way on a business trip. I think the display is just like an expectation or average but it changes as to your driving habits but people much more knowledgeable than me feel free to chime in.

Your counting preconditioning and stand by usage, and possibly sentry footage. These all contribute to battery loss. Also cold. You also didnt mention your trim level.

c4koth 2026-02-23 07:44

Normal

Xcitado 2026-02-23 12:39

You should always precondition is what I’m always told.

Pure_Growth8539 2026-02-23 12:44

tesla precondition only when you set supercharger in your navigation as fast charging requires preconditioning. There is no way you can turn it on manually. How you do that?

Pure_Growth8539 2026-02-23 12:44

RWD

Xcitado 2026-02-23 12:46

I thought when you schedule departure time is when it preconditions.

Swordru 2026-02-23 13:09

When you turn the climate on from the app, it also starts to precondition the battery. You should be preconditioning if you have a level 2 charger in the cold like this. Your car tells you, battery warming, battery cold, etc. The car explains everything that is happening and what you should do. Read the manual.

the_cappers 2026-02-23 16:02

Thats pretty good milage then. Theres a app on the car that will tell you where power is going and when. Also your watts/miles is useful for people on the internet.

davis_doe9 2026-02-23 16:24

Those are the real actual numbers

Pure_Growth8539 2026-02-23 16:57

watts/mile is another illusion as it says about 320 watts/mile which translates to about 300 miles so definitely that is not accurate and car is using lot of energy which it is not reporting.
