I wanted to be a hater so bad…

GI_Jade95 | 2026-02-23 03:35 | 588 views

This car has changed driving for me. I’ve always hated driving… now I find myself looking for reasons to be in the car.

I go to charge it just to get something to eat and get out of the crazy house for a peaceful 30 minutes and watch Prime using the browser.

Original-Definition2 2026-02-23 04:06

best place to see video - front seat of MY

watergoesdownhill 2026-02-23 04:12

Funny, I used to love driving. Now I barely do it thanks to FSD.

williamprius 2026-02-23 04:23

Once you go EV, you can’t go back to a gas car ever again!! 😂🤣

lIIIIllIIIlllIIllllI 2026-02-23 04:33

So many first comments in person from people who find out I have an EV are “tRyiNg tO saVe tHe plaNEt hey!” Nah bro, this is the best car you can drive right now on the planet. I love just effortless pulling ahead of just about any ICE vehicle on the road.

JustAcivilian24 2026-02-23 04:35

Why is that a bad thing though?

Balancedone_1 2026-02-23 04:42

Felt 😂

lIIIIllIIIlllIIllllI 2026-02-23 04:42

I mean as far as producing no exhaust gases in your local community, yeah they do better for local environments where they are driven. But let’s not pretend they aren’t big on producing pollution during the production phase. My point was that most people who haven’t driven an EV, don’t realise how awesome they are to drive.

JustAcivilian24 2026-02-23 04:43

Agreed! I’m never buying gas again. Tesla/EVs are just way too good.

vendettakill 2026-02-23 05:00

for that money, there are many faults with that car, it's easy to get stone chip because it has a very soft color and different levels on the doors and there's more to add

PrizeMeans 2026-02-23 05:10

FSD is just not there yet to be completely practical in LA traffic. Takes ages to yield at left turns so it just pisses off everybody behind you. Fails to identify gaps in highway traffic to make lane changes and I miss my exit.

colokan2224 2026-02-23 05:18

Its really crazy how quick these cars are. This is my first EV and being able to launch so easily ahead of them is crazy to me.

PhilosophyCorrect279 2026-02-23 05:28

While its true that the initial production footprint is a little bigger then an ICE at first, It's also been proven for a while now that EVs still have a significantly smaller carbon footprint during their lives vs. an ICE vehicle. No oil changes, transmission fluid changes, no gas. That footprint is also shrinking rather rapidly now too since Tesla first started. They are optimizing so well that even legacy Auto, like Ford, has started adopting many of the same techniques and technology. *They are also highly recyclable, and many companies are heavily invested in that too. The whole car has less parts, with better breakdown. The minerals in the batteries are all locked away in the packs, and can absolutely be reused. Current technology has allowed many recyclers to be 98-99% efficient in extraction for useful materials. This will enable cheaper batteries too because fresh minerals wont need to be mined as often.

Complex_Arrival7968 2026-02-23 05:28

I’m in LA and I just hit the blinker when it is either too aggressive or not enough. It IS “supervised” after all. I love love it. 90% of stress gone.

Complex_Arrival7968 2026-02-23 05:30

So buy a slow, low tech car with great paint. Wait…

No-Abbreviations4075 2026-02-23 05:49

I am so glad I looked past the hate. These cars are awesome.

Open-Caterpillar-588 2026-02-23 05:50

I was totally a Tesla hater until the juniper came out. Then I fell in love and now I don’t think I’ll ever own anything else lol

dontrackonme 2026-02-23 05:53

I watched a netflix movie. the surround sound is top notch. It is like being in your own personal movie theater

vendettakill 2026-02-23 06:39

I love the car, believe me, but when condensation builds up in the front light, I dont like this, you've paid quite a lot for a car, you haven't paid just for the tech.

Wants-NotNeeds 2026-02-23 07:10

In addition to turn signals, flipping between modes (CHILL/STD/HURRY) can manipulate FSD into doing what you want without disengaging. It starts to feel like your driving and not the car, but can still be more relaxing than actually driving once you get used to it.

Wants-NotNeeds 2026-02-23 07:12

Nuthin’ wrong with tryna save the planet, though.

battle_pantZ 2026-02-23 07:14

It’s because of the led

watergoesdownhill 2026-02-23 07:31

This is an identity issue. Plenty of real people in LA also take way too long. Your issue is that you don’t want to identify that way.

K3jai 2026-02-23 07:36

It’s the best car ever.

matthew19 2026-02-23 07:43

I FSD to my mailbox.

Onyxam 2026-02-23 07:47

*Does a u turn on a double yellow and gets hit*

watergoesdownhill 2026-02-23 08:11

Same

peacedove5210 2026-02-23 08:31

The shadow from the tree makes me think that your rear wheel is morphing.

iguessma 2026-02-23 09:15

I hate driving and when I put FSD on I hate it even more. It's so frustrating to drive

RedElmo65 2026-02-23 09:56

Did you drive an electric before it came out? Or just test drove one after?

RedElmo65 2026-02-23 09:56

Yes. Yes I can. I will go back to a gas Porsche.

RedElmo65 2026-02-23 09:58

I back into my garage. I like not producing fumes inside my garage where it’s connected to the house.

RedElmo65 2026-02-23 09:58

Have you driven an EV before? And then after driving one you couldn’t hate it anymore ?

Rdv250 2026-02-23 11:24

...where you have to watch a full length movie with your neck turned the whole time.

GI_Jade95 2026-02-23 13:20

Ironically, someone in front of me did a u turn in the median on the highway and that’s how I totaled my previous vehicle. Womp womp.

GI_Jade95 2026-02-23 13:27

I totaled my prior vehicle in January. Test several gas and electric vehicles ($40K budget turned $50K real quick). I had a particular bias against Tesla, and it was the last stop of the day because it was more so for husband and daughter to admire since we were shopping for me and I had no interest. That switched real quick when I drove it. I’m convinced if someone drives it, there’s probably a 60% chance of buying… they sell themselves.

GI_Jade95 2026-02-23 13:30

I love FSD. I’m very anxious, esp with driving and I feel like FSD takes a lot of pressure off when it’s truly supervised as intended.

texvet2 2026-02-23 13:51

I’m 76. Probably driven 1.5 to 2 million miles in my lifetime. Motorcycles, cars, trucks. Got my Y Dec 2024. Have a 2021 Palisade Calligraphy. Up until I got the Y that was by far the best car I’d ever had or driven. Now I only drive it on long trips when I’m going to be in mountains, desert or places where charging is a hassle. And that will soon be fixed when Walmart gets chargers at most of their locations. Between Tesla and Walmart charging will be a no brainer. Anyway, love the car, the get up and go,the lack of maintenance. But absolutely love FSD. Makes driving an absolute pleasure specially since they backed off the nags. I hated Houston rush hour traffic. Now I don’t even worry about it. Just watch the people and the scenery, no stress. Found when I got older for some reason if I looked left or right the car would sort of drift left or right. Not safe and got a rise out of the wife. No more, FSD has the wheel. Attention and reflexes just aren’t the same anymore. FSD is a godsend for us older folks.

josh_thom 2026-02-23 14:10

Or any manual

josh_thom 2026-02-23 14:13

Full blacked out ain't it, that's early 2000s

tbiscus 2026-02-23 14:13

My 83 year old next door neighbor picked up a Juniper Y this past Summer (note: we are both "car guys" and he traded in his Polestar 2 for reference). He got the free FSD trial like most of us. Talked to him a month ago and yep....he now subscribes. He uses it every time he drives. He is aware of the limitations (heck, darn thing headed into oncoming traffic lanes one day on a detour), but deals with it. Neither of us knew the other were looking at Ys and we got ours a week later - obviously the tax credit expiration had us pulling the trigger early. Since then, on our 22 home street a third Model Y Juniper has shown up (so we have white, red, and gray now). A week ago the neighbor across the street asked me about ours and aid they are looking at one when his wife's lease is up. Historically, I am bugged by something on EVERY CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED - drives my family nuts (and I'm willing to spend hours researching and fixing, swapping parts in my garage, etc. to address). So far, 5k miles later we are pretty happy. Biggest issue we had pre-Juniper was the suspension (even had an order placed for the Model Y Perf with the comfort version of the performance suspension at one point but canceled when I saw AI4 hardware was imminent...and then Juniper was imminent...and then the rebate was expiring so...here we are).

One-Twist8044 2026-02-23 14:57

Welcome to the family!

TheBowerbird 2026-02-23 15:03

The extra CO2 from production is offset within a year or two of operation. Remember that an average ICE car emits 4 tons of CO2 per year from its tailpipe.

GI_Jade95 2026-02-23 15:10

What would you change? I’m not a “car girl” by any stretch. I know I normally wouldn’t have picked black but in this case, I really liked it. Plus the early 2000s are back in style 🤣

Open-Caterpillar-588 2026-02-23 15:10

My husband has a i7 so I drove his plenty before getting my tesla. But I literally never drove a tesla before getting mine…I stared at the screen waiting for something to happen on delivery day 😅 Now I think my Tesla drives way better than his i7, it’s more “stiff” feeling. His i7 is very smooth, but I prefer the Tesla.

GI_Jade95 2026-02-23 15:13

I was a Tesla hater… bad. I can’t wait to get one for the hubs so he stops stealing mine. Ha

Open-Caterpillar-588 2026-02-23 15:16

Yeah, I get a little annoyed when my hubby takes mine also 😂

WolverineFit5346 2026-02-23 15:24

I absolutely love my Y. At almost 70, I find my night vision is really not up to par and the FSD has been a lifesaver particularly in rainy weather!

GI_Jade95 2026-02-23 15:27

At barely 30, my night vision is horrible and if it’s raining I have about 15% certainty if I’m even on a road…. HA FSD frees me up to actually watch what is going on. Between me and Junipurrr😺, we make one competent driver.

bgross42 2026-02-23 15:34

{Supervised} is more than a word.

Queasy-Bed545 2026-02-23 15:39

Really happy with my Highland, but I constantly wonder if I should have gotten Juniper.

bgross42 2026-02-23 15:43

Outstanding! Enjoy your car. I have a friend who jokes that, if you want to kill 5-20 minutes of empty time, ask a Tesla owner how they like their car. We’ll *tell* you!

liftingislife19 2026-02-23 15:49

So true lol

dane19mike 2026-02-23 15:56

FSD, UI, and reliability are unmatched (Amongst American competition 🌚). If they ever have true autonomous driving then I have a dream of watching Netflixs while the car drives me on my roadtrip. For now, watching on the phone mount will have to do.

josh_thom 2026-02-23 16:07

Mb no offense, but cars are like clothes, u got the full black funeral spec. [Our Tesla](https://www.reddit.com/r/ModelY/s/1PSH0E2wDM) is black too, but we got some contrast with the wheels and interior which works with the front and rear light bars, like wearing brighter shoes/accessories on a dark outfit. Not much you can do now, and it cost extra, so don't worry about it, just enjoy the car.

Moistflamingos 2026-02-23 16:21

I FSD out of my garage. No joke. It’s a tough maneuver around the cars in my driveway. My Y does it better than me. In love.

ProphePsyed 2026-02-23 16:42

Sounds interesting. You should post a video showing this off.

soolaga 2026-02-23 16:43

I think this car is great. My parents have me babysitting their Juniper LR and I honestly think it’s a great appliance for transportation. It’s quiet, it’s got more power than my own personal car (2014 MB C250), all the tech, and the sound system is great. I also am a car guy. I used to have a 2018 WRX and loved rowing gears for the 70k mi I drove it. I think this Juniper + a dedicated sports car is absolutely a very viable 2 car solution for me personally and a lot of gearheads, if they’re open minded.

Complex_Arrival7968 2026-02-23 16:55

That's on the money. Yes, I do that too, and only force the lane change when, as it has a tendency to do, it waits too long to get over for an offramp. I've had it miss a few for that very reason.

Complex_Arrival7968 2026-02-23 16:58

Haven't had the problem but I'm in LA so not a lot of precipitation. I also garage it.

boxochocolates42 2026-02-23 17:09

I've found that using polarized (lightly orange tinted) sunglasses at night really helps in the rain.

FamousEvening6159 2026-02-23 17:42

Same here!

StormTrpr66 2026-02-23 18:40

How does that work? If you're in FSD and hit the turn signal, it will change lanes on its own?

Old-Flatworm-760 2026-02-23 19:21

Me too…I fought the Tesla life hard, and now I can’t go back!

DonDee74 2026-02-23 19:39

Sometimes you just can't fight fate...lol. I was never a fan of the lightbar on the newer MY, but it sure looks really good with the dark exterior.

Zenarius42 2026-02-23 20:18

😏 its good aint it ..

FranSure 2026-02-23 21:27

I love my Y/P. I’m sitting in it right now after flying all over town like a madman. All I know is speed.

Complex_Arrival7968 2026-02-23 22:10

Exactly. In fact on HW4 vehicles, you can override the route by turning on the indicator, and turn when it wants to go straight, and it will reroute accordingly.

tesla-watts 2026-02-23 22:21

Yes! Has done that for a long time

Acceptable-Chance534 2026-02-23 23:59

Same!

808Soultrain 2026-02-23 23:59

I live on an island and I still FSD.

Patient-Web7942 2026-02-24 00:00

I Fsd down the street. Then walk home. Then summon the car back to me

Noob911 2026-02-24 00:20

My HW3 does this too, but not every time

Noob911 2026-02-24 00:22

Very true. My car embarrasses me a lot

Complex_Arrival7968 2026-02-24 00:40

Mine didn’t the couple times I tried. Maybe I should give it another shot.

Broozer98 2026-02-24 00:46

Use your accelerator pedal!

Noob911 2026-02-24 00:55

It sounds obvious, but you definitely have to be in the far right lane when you signal, or it will just change lanes. But if you give it enough notice, it should turn right at the next street. I haven't tried signaling to get it to turn left yet, though

UFO_Tofu1973 2026-02-24 01:30

The car I last test drove was a 2019 Porsche 911 manual for the ultimate driving experience. I didn’t like it and passed on it. I took a Tesla MY for a 30 minute test drive and ordered one 5 days later.

romayojr 2026-02-24 03:10

glad i’m not the only one

remaxxximus 2026-02-24 03:13

😂

Difficult_Royal_5494 2026-02-24 03:35

Mine switched from Chill to Hurry this morning for no reason, speeding at 85mph in a 60mph area...

Parking_Bird_5526 2026-02-24 03:42

Since the update that started tracking FSD %, I’m at 97%. 1260/1300 miles over the past few months.

notabear87 2026-02-24 04:46

Once you go FSD there is no going back. I’m looking forward to *someone* eventually catching up to Tesla though; competition is a good thing.

SnooSquirrels9064 2026-02-24 05:53

Especially in a '24 Model 3 Performance. Never had an issue with merging lanes before... even in my little 2016 Smart ForTwo. Now.... it's just effortless to get up to speed, no matter how short the on-ramp may be.

MyMonte87 2026-02-24 11:57

...i miss my manual....

anangrytaco 2026-02-24 12:00

FSD my Beloved

MyMonte87 2026-02-24 12:04

i live an hour south of you, and I don't think we have experienced owning this car with the current east coast weather. Would be an interesting to experience heating it up from the living room, thru the app, see how it handles to snow/icy roads. battery reduction in cold (which is totally understandable).

MyMonte87 2026-02-24 12:07

btw - we haven't talked about having Grok at your finger tips. I've been using it like a quick google search: (are there direct flights from A to B?) (what is the first year of the mustang?) (Tell me how many number 1's Pink Floyd had?) and ofcourse having fun with unhinged mode when a friend is in the car: (So my friend here doesn't think you are that smart, and all the other AI's are better than you....what are your thoughts on that?) sit back watch the jaw drop.

josh_thom 2026-02-24 14:40

Me too, fiesta st, hopefully can get a gr corolla to replace it

Wants-NotNeeds 2026-02-24 17:30

Weird. I can’t say I’ve ever noticed the drive mode change sporadically like that.

Difficult_Royal_5494 2026-02-24 17:45

We just got an update. I think I'll reboot.

burnusgas 2026-02-24 18:12

If everyone used Tesla FSD I would start road cycling again.

vnarod 2026-02-24 19:42

Great cat

jflbball 2026-02-25 14:38

The black juniper is the sharpest car on the road. Congrats!

GI_Jade95 2026-02-25 14:50

Biased.. but would agree. It gets lots of looks.

Kvillase 2026-02-25 20:29

Drive into LA every day but at 5am so traffic is light. I was worried how it would maneuver through the 110 merging and exit to 6th street, does it perfect every time.

Suspicious_Cap_8928 2026-02-26 03:58

I've never used FSD, but that's such a cool way to use it
