I’m so glad I made this purchase, it’s liberating.

I don’t really know how to explain this, but I’ll try to pull examples to explain what I want to say. This car is the only car I drove that treats me like an adult. All cars I drove before treated me like a monkey behind wheels; everything nags, they don’t want you to do anything even slightly wrong. Not saying you should, but I don’t want a babysitter with me in my car. In a Tesla, you are treated like a responsible adult who knows what they are doing and gives you the freedoms to do them. The fact that there is a “Mad Max” mode tells me, “Hey, listen, this car is capable; we trust you with this responsibility.” You can Smart Summon the car, you can move it back and forth with your phone. You can turn on Beta features, you can choose to receive updates earlier, you can tweak driving above speed limits… So many small examples here and there that I won’t be able to remember them all. Imagine Toyota letting you do this; Toyota at best treated me like I’m a teenager; the only safety feature I was able to turn off was traction control. I really appreciate that part. I don’t know if others see it this way. P.S. I’ve never driven a high-performance car; I come from an experience of normal day-to-day cars we typically see on the streets. I’m sure some cars have similar controls once you enter the world of Porches /Corvettes and up.

Congrats

Retarded_MCU1_owner 2026-02-22 14:50

I wish my Tesla treated me a like an adult. Fucking thing nags me constantly to touch steering wheel. Granted I'm on MCU1 and no internal camera (Thank God).

goingfourtheone 2026-02-22 14:55

I love my 26my. Fsd was an awesome upgrade!

Tasty_Action5073 2026-02-22 14:57

My only problem with the internal camera is that someone is watching me pick my nose 😂

Tasty_Action5073 2026-02-22 14:57

TY

Tasty_Action5073 2026-02-22 14:59

Agreed. I basically don’t drive anymore.

StormTrpr66 2026-02-22 15:07

lol....I had this exact thought. Can Tesla employees really watch your in-cabin camera?

ehas23 2026-02-22 15:25

Cringe

Salt_Base_3751 2026-02-22 15:27

Every time I use FSD it feels like I’m in the future. 100 years from now no one will “drive” a car

Putrid-Box4866 2026-02-22 16:14

I really wish for that to happen in the next 20 years, but yeah, never probably in my lifetime.

perrochingon 2026-02-22 16:24

Relax. It’s just a car. What a cringe post.

Broozer98 2026-02-22 16:31

It doesn't feel like one to me. It feels different in many ways

SpenseRoger 2026-02-22 16:56

If it truly treated you like an adult the settings would be more granular instead of a bunch of limited options with names designed to appeal to a little kid lol

bustex1 2026-02-22 17:03

Idk about never how old are you? Kind of shocking to see where AI was 10 years ago compared to today. I personally don’t have FSD but also lots of people mentioned how big of a leap the last version or two was

Putrid-Box4866 2026-02-22 17:09

The capability and technology is not the problem. It’s more about legality and taking accountability.

MelodicComputer5 2026-02-22 17:12

23mylr. Still the best vehicle I have ever owned. We may need to purchase another vehicle and a cannot get over why we would buy anything other than a Tesla.

Tasty_Action5073 2026-02-22 17:45

Yeah, i think it’s closer than people think. You will have to remember also that the improvement will be exponential, because the cars now relay on stop signs and traffic lights, infrastructure to manage humans… there will be a point where car to car mesh coordination will be implemented where two cars won’t need traffic lights etc… We generally do not account for infrastructural improvements, we assume we need AI to navigate the complex system we have, but the more advanced we get, the simpler the infrastructure will be because we won’t need most of it which will accelerate improvements.

> lol....I had this exact thought. Can Tesla employees really watch your in-cabin camera? Not by default. Tesla only transmits a clip when you opt-in to data sharing and a safety event/crash occurs. They don’t have access to livestream or ongoing cabin camera footage from your vehicle under normal use.

Tasty_Action5073 2026-02-22 18:12

They don’t use internal camera to train the AI model?

LangkawiBoy 2026-02-22 18:35

I agree. Like there’s not even an “Ok” to hit on startup. I do wish I could set my FSD speed and lane choice more. I live here, so I know what lane is the good lane. And it’s my ass gonna get the ticket so the speed is my domain, ok. Oh, and I wish they hadn’t been required to do a full two second stop at stop signs. It’s so non-human that it confuses everyone at a four way.

Tasty_Action5073 2026-02-22 18:37

It stops for two seconds for you? It comes to a full stop and immediately starts driving for me. I don’t have a 2 seconds stop on mine.

Exact_Physics4224 2026-02-22 19:06

I don’t see it happening within 5 years. 98% will be possible, unfortunately that last 2% is extremely difficult. I still get dropped calls frequently enough, and dead spots with no internet. FSD shuts off due to poor weather, poor visibility etc.

pw154 2026-02-22 19:27

No

Tip-Actual 2026-02-22 20:46

100 years from now you may not even need to be in a car. Think teleportation via quantum mechanics

Enjoyed the post. I’m currently driving a 2023 Honda Ridgeline. It’s fully loaded but still suffers from tech from 2016, seriously terrible smart safety features, and bad fuel economy. It’s been a great little truck. I test drove a MY using FSD for 90% of the hour in heavy traffic, congested city streets (Tampa) and even a trip to the airport using the interstate. Mind blowing experience. I’m now in my 60’s and all I want is reliability and the best tech available. Half of that I’ll never get with Honda. I cannot wait until September (Lease ends) when I take delivery of my new Model Y.

Tasty_Action5073 2026-02-23 00:57

You will love FSD.

watergoesdownhill 2026-02-23 08:14

My wife just got a Santa Fe hybrid and the thing just nags like crazy. too close to a car nag! reversing there’s another car nag plus the wheel shakes!! it. It’s insane.

Famous_Ad7312 2026-02-23 19:08

I personally don't use FSD, total respect for those that do. I feel the same way about my MY Juniper Performance, I've never experienced the thrill of driving like I do in this computer. I'll never own another ICE vehicle again.
