Rwd range/energy boost question.

So these standards come with roughly 30 miles of battery capacity that is software locked. Tesla recommends to charge to 80%. Since the battery capacity is there and unused.... is charging to 100% without energy boost basically charging to 80%??

I think the top end (100% soc) is the same voltage for all cars of the same battery chemistry. It's how low the car will discharge into the pack that changes. Someone with OBD or similar can confirm voltages.

Makes sense. Thx!! Considering purchasing the boost while I've got a little extra cash to burn. Just still not quite sure 30 miles is worth 1k. If this was only 500 I'd have bought it day one.

What's the scenario where you're going to really wish you had that extra capacity? For probably 99% of drivers it isn't going to make any tangible difference.

Wife's car. She doesn't like to charge it lol. She makes frequent trips to Orlando for conferences. About 2.5 to 3 hour drive depending on traffic. Its really only for convenience and not a necessity. But I've done quite a bit of side work this past month and have a few extra bucks so now would be a good time to do it and not miss the money.

> About 2.5 to 3 hour drive depending on traffic You'll never make the round trip on a single charge, boost or no, and you'll always make one leg of the trip on a single charge, boost or no. That doesn't sound like a reason to buy it.

If we think of an ICE car, would anyone pay $1000 if there was an option to get a gas tank that's 1 gallon more? Use the $1000 to take your wife out to a nice dinner a few times.
