Rear 12V Accessory Socket not working? Software / Firmware bug?

I travel a lot in my 2024 Model Y and have a travel refrigerator I plug into the rear 12V Accessory Socket. In November, it stopped working (I then plugged the fridge into center console, it works, not convenient though). Periodically I'd test the rear socket and it would intermittently work. It has been dead now for several weeks. Yesterday I took it to Tesla Service and while dropping off to have that outlet repaired (Mobile service had previously attempted to repair) a technician came out and informed me they have an internal memo saying NOT to replace parts for this socket because they believe it's a firmware or software bug that the engineers are working on. Technician said that this is a known issue that is affecting a large number of Model Y's. So I'm curious, are other Model Y owners "Rear 12v Accessory Sockets" dead? Best way to test is to go into your "Charging" option and look for "Keep Accessory Power On" turn that on. That will ensure the outlet has power. Then test with whatever accessory you have. I'm skeptical if it's a wide spread problem or if it's an isolated incident and they sent me away.

Exactly the same thing for months. When I finally got a service appointment they said it was working and couldn’t replicate the problem. Sigh.

Mine is definitely dead and they verified that. But I'm going on 4 months of it not working and it's honestly a valuable accessory for me and my travels. I was told that If it didn't start working by June to put in a service ticket again.

I travel for work constantly and also use a portable fridge to avoid wasting food. I’ve started plugging it into a Jackery power station to get by until this is fixed. BTW, this issue is being discussed here as well: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/no-power-to-rear-accessory-12v-16v-outlet-in-camp-mode-or-accessory-power-on.349920/

I currently have the same intermittent issue. I have a slow leak in one of my rear tires and try to use the rear outlet for a portable air compressor. 23 MYLR

Check the inner edge of your wheel of your tire with the slow leak (you may have to remove the wheel). I had this same thing and it ended up being a crack in the wheel itself. I took it to discount tire and they showed me the crack. Cost me $963 at a Tesla Service center to have the wheel (20" wheel) replaced. Tesla wheels are made of "cast aluminum" arguably the weakest material for a wheel, combined with the heavy vehicle and lower profile tires, the right pothole will just crack the rim. Probably why they came out with that wheel tire program they offer now.

Thank you for this. Registering there and following this. Good looking out! Also, I travel with a bluetti power station. I only use it on overnight stays, so it doesn't trickle off the car battery all night. With the bluetti I have, I can usually do about 4-5 nights of keeping the refrigerator going before I need to bring it in and recharge it.

Same intermittent issue here, 23 MYLR, several other posts around [recently reporting similar](https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaModelY/s/eOIGtLNyMR)

Same issue here 24 MYLR. Stopped working after holiday FSD update. 2 service tickets and still not fixed. 1st service changed left controller. Socket worked for 3 days then died again. 2nd service ticket they performed e-fuse reset. (Tested the socket when I got home, and no power) Called in for another appt.

I finally bought a splitter and an extension cable and routed a wire from inside the glove box to the back so I can plug in my refrigerator. Based on ChatGPT, my set up is completely safe. Time will tell.
