tesla offered me 3.99 instead of 0.99

No_Industry_9532 | 2026-02-21 01:10 | 15 views

Tesla offered me 3.99 after I applied and it was through Santander. I originallyy even ordered because of the new 0.99. How can I get them to get me the 0.99 apr? . I has a great credit history and great income?

I ordered before the 0.99 and had 2.99 and just asked and they switched me.

GIJOW 2026-02-21 01:14

I don’t think you can get them to do .99 after having your application analyzed. I got a similar situation few years ago too

I don't know but you really need to charge your phone

IGNORED34 2026-02-21 01:19

Meh, no auto steer

OldDirtyRobot 2026-02-21 01:20

What is the point of the picture?

Have you actually seen your credit report? Santander is bottom of the barrel .. be positive of what’s on your credit report. Edit: Santander in the US has a [BBB score](https://www.bbb.org/us/tx/dallas/profile/consumer-finance-companies/santander-consumer-usa-inc-0875-90112710/complaints) of 1, and a [Trust Pilot](https://www.bbb.org/us/tx/dallas/profile/consumer-finance-companies/santander-consumer-usa-inc-0875-90112710/complaints) of 1.5 .. Santander specializes in subprime loans and has agreed to pay out [SIXTY FIVE MILLION](https://www.myfloridalegal.com/newsrelease/550m-secured-borrower-relief-subprime-finance-company) + forgive millions more of their obligations bc they mostly scam people who don’t have options. The lawsuit is 2010 -2019 predatory lending. Maybe they’re the only ones willing to play ball with Tesla promos idk, im just the messenger.

BranchLatter4294 2026-02-21 01:24

Shop around for financing.

PahLume1 2026-02-21 01:24

When I got tired mine read the fine print as they sometimes say you need a 15 percent or more down payment to get the lower interest rate.

CaptCarlos 2026-02-21 01:27

Probably because Santander is a well known Subprime lender…

voodoo_mama_juju1123 2026-02-21 01:28

I disagree bc I originally was offered Santander when I got my model 3 loan last year and I reached out why my offer was a different APR and they changed it a day later and With Wells Fargo for the correct 1.99% that was the promo back then. My credit is fairly decent but it might be worth OP reaching out to see.

gmatocha 2026-02-21 01:30

They did the same to us a few years ago...I think it's their standard MO. Probably a lot of ppl just accept it.

loki_the_mischief 2026-02-21 01:34

I thought they just changed the name and it would work as it was now. Am I missing anything?

CAVU1331 2026-02-21 01:35

Lol no it's not. It's just one of the approved lenders

Balancedone_1 2026-02-21 01:35

Before you call or walk into a show room to ask about the lower rate do you know your credit score?

Idc94 2026-02-21 01:35

I agree with you. Tesla just uses Santander as a go to for some reason. My credit score hasn’t gone below 815 in many years and tesla financed me with Santander a few years ago. Was kinda ticked at the time but ended up just paying it off and moving on.

informal_bukkake 2026-02-21 01:37

charge your damn phone

voodoo_mama_juju1123 2026-02-21 01:38

Yeah that’s annoying haha but glad you got it all paid off!

mrpervis 2026-02-21 01:39

I messaged them through the app and got 0.99% after being offered 6.45% with Santander. Just ask for what’s on the website.

IamBusha 2026-02-21 01:39

Keep asking on the app for the better rate. I asked like 10 times

SnooBeans1223 2026-02-21 01:43

Same problem with the 1.99 on model y last year. I had to put more down

true-dci-john-luther 2026-02-21 01:49

I got the same offer 3.99 from the same Satander after submitting the application. I had to resubmit and chat in app for a better rate, they changed my downpayment to increase only $.1 and resubmitted my application to other lenders and I got 0.99 offer.

zaq1xsw2cde 2026-02-21 01:49

if only there was a simple way to message them with your questions.

justbored858 2026-02-21 01:56

Different lenders offer different APRs. I hope you didn't accept the 3.99 APR. Call tesla and see what lenders offer the 0.99 APR so you could apply.

jusip89 2026-02-21 01:58

Orginally, I had 2.99. I messaged Tesla through the app, asking if my order is eligible with 0.99 deal. After 5mins, they updated my loan terms with 0.99 apr.

rice59 2026-02-21 02:04

I don't know what the current promo is...but be sure to read the terms and conditions of the 0.99% offer. If you have the wrong # of months, or not enough of a down payment, you will not quality for .99%

Significant-Pop-5657 2026-02-21 02:04

I just called the customer care and asked them to change it. Within 1 hour they changed it.

Did you ask before delivery?

javedk1 2026-02-21 02:12

Was this before or after delivery

javedk1 2026-02-21 02:13

Was this after delivery? And who did you call?

No_Industry_9532 2026-02-21 02:13

you right coulda done a better job

No_Industry_9532 2026-02-21 02:14

I don’t got a charger

No_Industry_9532 2026-02-21 02:14

Messaged them right away saying I am more than qualified for the 0.99 and Wells Fargo offered the 0.99 5 min later!

jefedezorros 2026-02-21 02:14

Did you put enough down? The fine print says minimum 5% plus taxes, fees etc.

No_Industry_9532 2026-02-21 02:15

I think I took action too fast. It said were searching other lenders and boom Wells Fargo offered the 0.99 5 min later. ( been banking with Wells Fargo for over 15 years).

No_Industry_9532 2026-02-21 02:15

I can’t afford a charger.

No_Industry_9532 2026-02-21 02:15

They just did! Sent a message saying I am more than qualified for the 0.99 and they offered 5 minute later.

javedk1 2026-02-21 02:16

Was this before delivery?

jusip89 2026-02-21 02:16

Before delivery.

No_Industry_9532 2026-02-21 02:16

Yup. Reached out and got offered the .99 5 minutes later

javedk1 2026-02-21 02:16

Dang I couldn’t get mine adjusted from 2.99 after delivery even tho I have a 830 credit score

No_Industry_9532 2026-02-21 02:17

I am well aware. 800+, bringing in over 100k a year, not including investments.

No_Industry_9532 2026-02-21 02:18

Santander offered me immediately. I just had to wait about 10 minutes and was offered the 0.99.

No_Industry_9532 2026-02-21 02:18

Over 100k a year, no debt, and 815.

jefedezorros 2026-02-21 02:19

Question: how do you know who the lender is? My documents don’t name a specific lender only a list of possible lenders.

DuckTalesLOL 2026-02-21 02:19

obviously it's before delivery, you aren't leaving with the car until you have finalized the loan.

jusip89 2026-02-21 02:19

Maybe downpayment? How much dp do you have? I have a dp of ~16%. EDIT: I re-read your message. You said AFTER delivery. I am not sure if they can do that after the sale. Goodluck to you, though.

No_Industry_9532 2026-02-21 02:19

Thanks for your guys help. I was offered the .99 10 minutes later. I was aware that I was well qualified it sucks because this is the first offer and Makes you think wow am I really not approved?

No_Industry_9532 2026-02-21 02:20

15k down. Got offered the .99 minutes later

javedk1 2026-02-21 02:21

Yeah I’m just gonna honestly not worry too much about it because I paid half the car off and the monthly difference is like $13

javedk1 2026-02-21 02:21

Yeah worth asking in case there was a loop hole haha guess I’m stuck with 2.99 but don’t have to wait any longer for delivery

parkpassgoaway 2026-02-21 02:22

Yes. I sent them a chat. They changed it that day. I'm still pre delivery as we speak.

javedk1 2026-02-21 02:23

Ah ok yeah I took delivery the day before they changed the rate but I guess I got the car already and can’t complain cause I don’t have to wait any longer

OldDirtyRobot 2026-02-21 02:23

Just curious if I was missing something.

FoxBearBear 2026-02-21 02:37

Draw attention to the post

Emergency_Analyst_91 2026-02-21 02:50

Call the dealer. We had ordered before the 0.99 came out and picking up tomorrow. Before financing I called to see if we could get the 0.99. They said to submit financing and if it didn’t come back 0.99 to let them know and they would submit a ticket to get it changed. We now have 0.99 rate.

nappycappy 2026-02-21 02:51

if wells fargo offered you 0.99 why not just solve the problem yourself and go with wells fargo instead of trying to get tesla to change something? i mean i dunno the last time i bought a car, the dealer offered x.xx% and our bank offered y.yy% which is lower . . so we just went with our bank.

IGNORED34 2026-02-21 03:27

You have to subscribe to fsd to get auto steer/auto pilot. All you get now is cruise control that keeps its distance from the car in front of you. Where since like 2020 autopilot was free/came with car. Bummed out, when I get a model s next year it won't be new (pre this dumb update since they stopped making s it's obvious it won't be new)

Crowncaps13 2026-02-21 04:46

It sounds like hes saying thats what hes doing. Lol

Balancedone_1 2026-02-21 05:05

Didn’t ask your income bud 😂.🚩

No_Industry_9532 2026-02-21 07:23

My bad Jack ass that your offended because I said my income just so I can clarify that income wasn’t a problem. 😉

Full_Tap_4144 2026-02-22 01:03

Do you qualify for the car interest deduction for the next 3 years?

javedk1 2026-02-22 01:07

lol nope government hates anyone who makes too much from hard work :(

Full_Tap_4144 2026-02-22 01:26

Is a down payment required for the .99% financing? I'm playing around with the calculator on Tesla's website and when I enter in $0 in the down payment box, the .99% doesn't change. I can change other things, like 84 months or decrease credit score on their website which changes the interest rate but down payment can be anything.

No_Industry_9532 2026-02-22 02:39

at least 5% I believe
