Couldn't pass 0.99% APR and bit the bullet !

sajal_1986 | 2026-02-21 00:57 | 118 views

Spent over an yr just to decide whether to replace our 2015 Rav4 XLE with Lexus RX350h or Tesla Model Y Despite a big depreciation, I couldn't pass 0.99% apr and finally booked it. My wife is still thinking we may have to sell it soon and get Lexus eventually, I hope her opinion will change... 🙂

Best car I have ever owned. I throughly enjoy driving this car. Trust me, you won’t want to go back :)

IzzysGhost 2026-02-21 01:05

That’s an incorrect idiom/metaphor.

bluemeanie212 2026-02-21 01:05

I got 0.99% back in 2024 too. Literally saved money with the refund and low interest as the dollar continues to hurt itself lol - I thought about paying it off soon but everyone has suggested that would be a mistake if I want to make more in investments and not lose value

sajal_1986 2026-02-21 01:10

I used “bit the bullet” to mean making a tough decision despite depreciation. That’s how I understood the idiom — open to other interpretations though 🙂

IGNORED34 2026-02-21 01:20

Bummer about no autopilot tho eh?

sajal_1986 2026-02-21 01:26

Getting free 3 months Supervised FSD and then will pay the $99 monthly subscription only when required.. that's the plan

sajal_1986 2026-02-21 01:31

I think that $7500 tax rebate could have absorbed the depreciation but unfortunately I am late, I could only claim interest now which is already just few hundreds lol..so guess no significant savings there..

Moment-Antique 2026-02-21 01:37

How long after receiving vin did the car get ready for pickup, also just bought one!

sajal_1986 2026-02-21 01:45

Congratulations !! I think within 5-10 mins. I booked it today and was seeing the delivery date to be around 3-5 weeks. Got a call from tesla too confirming the same. But while I was putting the details in app, the vin was generated and delivery dates were available for Mon and Wed..good luck I guess

Moment-Antique 2026-02-21 01:47

How long after receiving vin did the car not too bad! We ordered on Wednesday, said 2-3 weeks, vin was assigned yesterday and estimated delivery is next week so was just curious!

pendingperil 2026-02-21 01:49

The fear of getting one that has these reported suspension noise issues is the only thing holding me back.

justbored858 2026-02-21 01:59

Congratulations! Same I couldnt pass on the 0.99 APR. Picking mines tomorrow :D

Leading-Eye-1979 2026-02-21 02:18

Congrats that’s a great rate!

HoochieDonuts 2026-02-21 02:39

Same. Just traded my 22MYP with FSD for a Premium AWD. Very happy with ride quality and less noise/vibration

Mr508Capalot 2026-02-21 02:47

What was the out the door price?

HomeCook33 2026-02-21 02:48

Nice!! I ordered on the 15th and its saying estimated delivery 3/14-3/31. Ugh.

xGenAc25 2026-02-21 02:58

Same. Also the front camera issue where I’ve read a few others saying the car braked on its own and almost causing an accident

xGenAc25 2026-02-21 02:59

Should be low noise and no vibration. Where are the vibrations coming from? Doesn’t sound normal..

shotofshadow13 2026-02-21 03:01

Same dude! I couldn’t pass on the 0.99% APR. just ordered mine a few days ago but I gotta wait a couple weeks to get mine 😭

EitherCharacter9342 2026-02-21 03:15

Congrats

jc3737 2026-02-21 03:27

Congrats- I just got one similar- took it and got windows tinted (20% on front, 70% on back) to match the front windows with the OEM dyed back windows. Also got front PPFed to prevent chipping.

IGNORED34 2026-02-21 03:28

That'd bum me out. I love auto pilot.

TheRayATL 2026-02-21 03:40

Don’t bother selling it after buying it, unless you enjoy wasting money lol

dnguyen823 2026-02-21 03:48

52k in Cali with fees destination and tax

DRhexagon 2026-02-21 03:49

Thank you. I’ve gotten into multiple comment battles in the past week about people blown away that I’d finance instead of pay cash for a Tesla! It’s literally free money at this interest rate if you plug your cash into a HYSA

FordGT2017 2026-02-21 03:50

When does 0.99 end. Do we know

Able_Problem_4787 2026-02-21 04:00

i neee to know

Able_Problem_4787 2026-02-21 04:01

how much down?

sajal_1986 2026-02-21 04:02

I am making $22000

Putrid-Box4866 2026-02-21 04:03

Best car I have wver owned. And I thoroughly enjoy not driving this car. FSD is amazing.

Able_Problem_4787 2026-02-21 04:03

compared to the 8k i wanna put down😭

Putrid-Box4866 2026-02-21 04:05

What’s the apr if you don’t pass the 0.99%? My initial rate was 3.99% and still bit the bullet as I think it’s worth it still, but then before delivery they changed it to 0.99% as the promo got an update. Nice saving though.

Putrid-Box4866 2026-02-21 04:07

Got the VIN immediately after paying deposit, which is Monday, the it got delivered following Tuesday, so 8 days.

Putrid-Box4866 2026-02-21 04:08

From the road. Our highway sucks, no amount of suspension will eliminate that.

justbored858 2026-02-21 04:09

I believe it's 2.99%. I applied for 0.99 but it was defaulted to 2.99 until they got my credit score. Took a day or so to verify my identity because I always have fraud alerts on my credit.

sajal_1986 2026-02-21 04:11

$51960 including all taxes and fees FYI its in St Johns, Florida

justbored858 2026-02-21 04:12

Congrats on the new car btw. Can't wait for mines.

sajal_1986 2026-02-21 04:17

Well I wanted to trade my Rav4 but Tesla offered me $9700, I am getting about $12000 in carmax for the same car, so essentially it would be like paying $10000 in down, when I get my $12000 back

sajal_1986 2026-02-21 04:26

I agree but I don't think it is going to come back, considering subscription based FSD is the only option left, as they also scrapped upfront $8000 for it

Putrid-Box4866 2026-02-21 04:29

2.99% is not that bad. The car is really is worth it and people are starting to see how awesome self driving is. Congrats too.

sajal_1986 2026-02-21 04:29

😁 no way !!

liam1902 2026-02-21 04:34

Prob cause most people can't actually afford it, borrow at super high rates, and then are trying to pay it off asap cause the high interest builds up. Or some people care so much about the depreciation (prob cause they're just gonna trade the car in a few years instead of keep it a long time). Whereas the smart people in a great financial spot who can afford to pay full cash on the car are able to take advantage of a super low APR deal so then they can keep their money and invest it while easily paying whatever monthly payment.

LightxDarkness93 2026-02-21 04:40

Welcomr to the club!

LNagel20 2026-02-21 05:14

I ended up going with a gas hybrid because I couldn’t find a 6 month insurance policy under like 4k for this and 2 cars. Would have doubled with the MY. It’s complete bullshit. I shopped every insurer in Ny also and that was the cheapest.

dirty_taco_ 2026-02-21 05:29

Why add the complexity of a hybrid drive train when you can eliminate almost all maintenance with 100% electric. Hybrid still requires oil changes and other maintenance that ev eliminates entirely

sajal_1986 2026-02-21 05:33

How much are they quoting for MY ? I transferred my current insurance and it is $196/month I will keep on shopping around but I heard this is little below avg for MY across nation

cheapdvds 2026-02-21 06:26

Might want to look into Comma 3X (from Comma.ai). I don't think I will ever buy a new car again, but if I ever get one without fsd, I'd most likely give comma a try. It should turn your car into enhanced AP level for under 2k I think.

baconreader9000 2026-02-21 07:05

Show her fsd and she’ll forget abt Lexus

MoeCipo 2026-02-21 09:46

Quicksilver or red is the real first world problem pain.. 😭

Thin_Ad5683 2026-02-21 12:59

What Lexus is she looking at ?

sajal_1986 2026-02-21 13:03

We were looking for RX350H Luxury trim

PlumGod6 2026-02-21 15:20

Such a great deal! Wish I was in the market for one, congrats

dellfanboy 2026-02-21 20:09

Rwd or AWD?

sajal_1986 2026-02-21 20:16

RWD

tcapote 2026-02-22 00:44

Did they transfer your FSD as part of the purchase?

HoochieDonuts 2026-02-22 00:49

They did. My understanding is transfers allowed through 3/31.

LNagel20 2026-02-22 00:54

Dude it was literally like 450 a month just for the my

sajal_1986 2026-02-22 01:01

That's insanely high !

IamBusha 2026-02-22 04:03

A 3 year old Tesla model y is worth more than what you would owe on it. The Teslas don’t depreciate as much as some other EVs. Especially the new ones with HW4

IamBusha 2026-02-22 04:04

Why would you put that much down when the rate is 1%? That doesn’t make any sense.

GizmoSwd 2026-02-22 05:47

I just ordered a MY AWD and was approved at 0.99% interest. App says it should be delivered in 2-3 weeks. I plan to keep this car for a long time and would normally look to pay off the loan quickly, but at 0.99% for 72 months, my total interest is only about $1,500.

sajal_1986 2026-02-22 07:40

I replied that above.. originally I wanted to put 10k down and trade my old car for another 10-12 k, which now I am selling it to private dealer. To keep emi low, I decided to match the initial combined amount, of which I would be getting 13k back after selling my old car..

TrainingGap9615 2026-02-22 14:09

Wish we got this deal in Canada :(

sajal_1986 2026-02-22 14:12

Red was too flashy for us so went with Quick Silver..

psychedelicsushi2 2026-02-22 16:22

Whenever i upgrade my car to model y(which won’t be anytime soon) I’ll be upgrading to red color

nhmerino 2026-02-23 04:48

Mine too.

OneHundredGig 2026-02-24 23:00

Smart move! I've got a MYP currently in production otherwise I'd think long and hard about moving to a premium version for the huge savings in interest alone. You made the right choice!
