Cracked seat frame

Just wanted to know if this would be under warranty for something like this

I'm going to say no. This is not manufacturing defect. This is damage from someone doing something to it. My guess. It looks like someone ran into it entering the vehicle. Matching crease on the seat padding.

TimeSlipperWHOOPS 2026-02-20 15:20

Tesla fixed mine under warranty but it felt random since a previous attempt listed a charge on the order

robotzor 2026-02-20 15:24

We would call this a wake up call

ekistler1971 2026-02-20 15:33

They replaced mine but said it was a one time thing. It’s considered abnormal wear by Tesla. 🫤

django24_7_365 2026-02-20 15:35

Its just a plastic cover not a seat frame...'

Landshark90210 2026-02-20 15:36

Sorry I don’t mean to be rude. But how much do you weigh?

Dirty_magnum 2026-02-20 15:42

Kinda my thought. I’m a big boxy dude and even at 250ish my seats have held up just fine…

FLETCHA53 2026-02-20 15:48

That plastic didn't fail inspection. It just met yo mama.

[deleted] 2026-02-20 15:48

“What are these seats made of?!?” “Umm, reinforced steel” Who knows this quote 😂

koukax 2026-02-20 15:48

They replaced mine for $70. I was expecting a huge charge. There wasn’t much discussion about it too. Guessing they know it breaks often or something.

Mental-Hospital-3865 2026-02-20 16:20

This should be covered under warranty, i got mine replaces after it broke off completely

Adorable-Boat8632 2026-02-20 16:21

Super glue

Ahhhorsepoo 2026-02-20 16:21

As a person who is above 350 at 6’5” mine also have held up…

bgross42 2026-02-20 16:29

Once I scrolled to frame the entire picture, I barely noticed the seat. Shop Vacs are cheap and convenient.

Aggravating-Rush9029 2026-02-20 17:09

Its pretty unlikely OPs weight is what killed a trim piece that isn't supposed to take load.

James-robinsontj 2026-02-20 17:10

He stopped on the seat

Kvikweg 2026-02-20 17:19

Had mine replaced for free, with a few months of warranty left.

BarcaLiverpool 2026-02-20 17:26

*Ooooooo burnnnnnn*

HighlightOverall7474 2026-02-20 17:37

25 for part 50 for labor.

Homelander510 2026-02-20 17:37

This is what happens when you charge to 100% daily

ihateduckface 2026-02-20 17:42

Why would you think this would be covered under a warranty?

Rhornak 2026-02-20 17:50

I don’t know the name of the show in English, is it the one where the main character only sees the inside beauty of women? Edit: title would be “what women want”

[deleted] 2026-02-20 17:52

Yes haha. Shallow Hal with Jack Black. Hilarious film.

Maleficent-Profit798 2026-02-20 17:59

I recommend reconsidering how you get in an out of the vehicle. You’re likely rolling off an putting too much stress on that side which caused the plastic to crack in a cold weather environment. Nothing wrong with being big bodied, but try to not put as much weight rolling in and out of the seat. Just a suggestion

No_Lie_8954 2026-02-20 18:03

Fix it and then stop eating burritos 😄

Dirty_magnum 2026-02-20 18:24

You’re forgetting spillover. If you’re wider than the seat then you’re certainly sitting on the trim partially.

UpperFerret 2026-02-20 18:52

How much you gonna eat bah?

Onyxam 2026-02-20 19:10

Planet Fitness starts from $15 a month.

jayeffkay 2026-02-20 19:18

Wow submitting in app now lol. How long did it take?

LordMungus35 2026-02-20 19:29

In the industry that’s known as the “fat crack”.

Boggie8_ 2026-02-20 19:33

203

SE_MI_CT 2026-02-20 19:49

That's just the side shield, not the seat frame. Unlikely to be covered under warranty since the damage is most seemingly caused by the occupant and not because of a factory defect. If it's anything like the Cybertruck sideshield, [it's cheap, like $70.](https://i.imgur.com/HgYnoeM.jpeg)

Southerngt 2026-02-20 20:06

Could...could a row boat support you?

raekle 2026-02-20 20:17

I had the same problem. They did a free warranty repair for me.

Upset_Possession_405 2026-02-20 21:10

I'd say that's a quality issue. Sorry about the other comments, don't blame yourself.

iAlwaysFocus 2026-02-20 22:32

Twice i had the trim break off the passenger side seat almost same area. Both times replaced under warranty

koukax 2026-02-20 22:49

Couple of hours including all the other stuff. I was in for a tyre change.

rackemrackbar 2026-02-21 00:00

I think it's time for you to start to seriously consider salads.

gmatocha 2026-02-21 00:32

Fix with a new frame and Ozempic

VinshinTee 2026-02-21 01:29

yea but i don't think they sell just this part?

WaffleHouseCEO 2026-02-21 03:37

In this episode of my 600lb life

UpbeatPhilosophySJ 2026-02-21 07:19

Google "tesla Y seat trim" you can buy a replacement for under $100.

Rhaversen 2026-02-21 17:57

Not jolly or sassy? Not like a jolly, sassy opera singer?

boxochocolates42 2026-02-21 19:17

Maybe it's time to go to Pick-n-Pull. The plethora of crashed MY's gotta' be going somewhere!

Potential_Fishing_89 2026-02-22 06:09

I think it’s just shitty plastic. Mine broke too cuz I was cleaning the roof and I kneeled on the seat

Jumpy_Implement_1902 2026-02-22 12:09

How much does one need to weigh to break the seat like that? Honestly, unless you were like 500lbs, I would think they’d replace it under warranty as a defect

SxID117 2026-02-22 14:55

When the retaining clips on the same piece broke in my car it was t warranty but full replacement was only $35. That was only a few weeks ago so should be a similar story for you too

-ghatotkach- 2026-02-23 06:00

The exact same issue happened with me and I asked for warranty coverage and they said it never happens and is not covered under warranty. I am on the leaner side in terms of weight. But what I found the flaw is if you lift the seat, its further from the base and has a higher change to break. Plastic is really low quality. Can't believe they just put a completely disjointed plastic cover there.

Informal-Shower8501 2026-02-23 10:52

Yea the sides of that seat have seen some things…
