CCS Combo 1 Adapter came with my 2026 MY LR AWD

Yeah i was pleasantly surprised when i opened my trunk and saw that. I had been desperate for a CCS charger before too.

Meanwhile, Rivian sells you a $100,000+ vehicle that comes with no charger or adapter despite most of their super chargers requiring CCS adapter for new models.

Not a Tesla owner, planning to be, may I know what’s this?

It allows you to charge your Tesla at non-Tesla chargers that use CCS (Tesla uses NACS)

I know they include them in a few states.

Although not sure why anyone would ever want to do that. Non Tesla chargers are absolutely garbage. Rarely working.

Only got the standard cable and J1772 adapter, Ohio.

Depends where you are, I guess. I just used a HondoGo charger today while getting groceries and it worked fine. Nothing beats the light weight and seamlessness of the Tesla superchargers though.

We got a blazer ev and the charging when we traveled was trash. Went back to a Model Y and it’s great now. We’re in CA.

Only got the mobile charger and J1772 myself.

And usually far more expensive too than Tesla's SuperChargers.

When we bought our first Model Y in April, the Tesla associate looked in the trunk and said, “Oh, wait! I have to get you another part.” A minute later he brought the CVS adapter. We bought a second in September and it had the adapter in the trunk already. I don’t know if it depends on where you are, but maybe it’s worth asking Tesla.

And not to mention the number of people I've seen waiting in line to charge. Where I'm at, they gave 6 EA chargers and 24 Tesla chargers in the same lot. At least one of the EA chargers is always down and I've seen people waiting for a very long time just to charge (OH has a crappy EV charging network in general compared to IL).

I bought one, and while I mostly agree, I’ve had my car for two years and the two instances I had to use my CCS adaptor it was a massive life saver for me. I use superchargers 99% of the time. But having the option to me at least is important. Very much a “would rather have and not use than need and not have” purchase. I’d highly recommend it to anyone (get a good one though, not some cheap 70 dollar shit on Amazon)

I’m in the northeast - to me the biggest benefit has been opening up the Applegreen Electric option. It’s expensive as fuck so I rarely prefer to do it, and even if you do some of them do have NACS spots. But a few weeks ago I was going down the thruway in a snowstorm and the winter range was already causing trouble. The Tesla charger it was routing me to was like two miles off the exit and the roads were shit, I was already gonna get there at like 4% and dropping because of the battery temp. I passed an Applegreen that had one available charging spot, CCS only, chose to stop there. Worked perfectly (at an incredible 64 cents per kW). But much more peace of mind to not have to navigate side roads in the dark in a snowstorm with depleting range. They’re right off the thruway and adds some convenience even in good weather.

As someone that has a Model Y and a Musang Mach E... Yes the Tesla stations are *far* better. Luckily my Mach E came with the NACS to CCS so I can use Tesla supercharges in the Mach E easily. EVgo and Electrify America have the worst experiences

I use one at work all the time. The slower charge speed works well too since I can just leave it for a longer period of time without the idle fees.

I bought one back in 2022, still have yet to use it. But it stays in the car, just in case.

What if you get your prescriptions from Walgreens?

Mine did, too. Haven’t used it yet but glad to have it.

In all fairness, mobile connectors are becoming just more clutter for a lot of people.  We have two unused ones sitting in the garage right now (J1772, one also has the 14-50 adapter), plus the ones we have in our cars. I don't even keep one in my Tesla.  I don't know if they released the data, but they said Mobile Connectors are barely used.

I’ve heard it’s hit and miss. I know where I got mine there were reports of some people getting them but I didn’t.

Superchargers aren't everywhere. I go to a few areas where only CCS1 chargers are. One time I rolled into a parking lot and they had free 150kW CCS1. I was glad I had my adapter. Another time the superchargers were showing as down on the navigation yet EA was showing they were up in the city. I was glad to have my adapter instead of detouring an hour out of my way to hit a supercharger.

It’s good to have it for emergencies no doubt. We’re in Coastal CA and when we road trips with the Chevy Blazer EV it is a nightmare to find charging. And when we do the Electrify America stations are either full or not working. So stressful. Bought a new Model Y and the road trips are cake walks now. So easy.

Absolutely agree.. I love the ease of use and reliability with the supercharger network. Do I wish they had more, hell yeah as it is tough when there's only one in a city and you have no bailouts. One of my 3 hour road trips has a CCS1 dealership halfway through and it sucks. Definitely have to be topped up before and coming back on that trip. I can say I would never road trip an EV without adapters to NACS, CCS1, J1772, my mobile adapter for L1/L2 etc as there are some pretty big charging deserts in the US.

The 2026 Premium Y also has 345 Miles. Gets me to Disneyland from my house with 135 to spare 😂

I asked Tesla in Vegas when I got my 2026 my lr awd last September and they told me only mobile charger and j1772 are included.

Yeah. But I still want free accessories in my car whenever possible hehe

Thank you thank you! Been wanting to upgrade since Juniper came out. Glad I waited. Found this car for $4000 off (demo car with 19 miles on it and a paint scratch that they fixed) I told them I wouldn’t mind another scratch, just add another $3000 discount on top 🤭

Then charging will cost half as much but take twice as long.

It’s so weird that different areas have different experiences. I wonder if it’s different by region, or by dealer. None of this stuff shows up on the Monroney, which it should.

Isn't that what the J1772 is for? All the non-Tesla public chargers I've seen use a J1772 connector.

I think J1772 predates CCS and is for slower Level 1 charging and CCS has more pins to support faster charging

i use the included charger for my tesla and my i3 in the garage. i was not aware that it was seldom used by owners. does everybody just install the charge box ?

Some people use their NEMA washer dryer plug, which works fine. I installed the wall charger because I got it for cheap and it works better for my situation.

Bought a MYLR in 2023. J1772 came with the car. I have since purchased a CCS adapter and a mobile charger. I keep them all in the car, just in case. I have literally used each only once. But they are in the car. And I know that they work if I need them.

Yeah, I may be mistaken, but I think the CCS1 **ADAPTER** is ONLY for DC fast charging with Teslas. If you have a car with CCS natively, then it’s for all charging. In other words, the CCS1 adapter is good for DC fast charging at places like EVGo, but wouldn’t be usable where J1772 is available as a Level 2 public charging option, like at the mall. Those places would just use the J1772 adapter that comes with Teslas.
