NEMA will be fine. You can limit to 32A which at 240V is 7.6kWh which is more than enough to fully charge overnight.

If your round trip is 70 miles you’ll be fine using the mobile charger every other night. Worst case scenario, you could always supercharge for 10 min for the beach trips. We have 2 Tesla’s and been using the mobile charger only for 3 years now. Ive had the Tesla home charger for more than 2 years now but haven’t had the chance to install it yet.

If you're just going to add a socket, installing a 14-50 circuit costs essentially the same as 10-40. You may never need the extra charging speed, but why limit your options.
You can select any charging amps you like from the vehicle or the phone app. Charge on Solar, for most installations, will rarely if ever exceed 32 amps without also drawing from the grid, which kind of defeats the point of solar.
After a few years using the mobile connector, I finally purchased a Universal Wall Connector. I would never charge at the max speed (11.5kWh), but
1. the connector is just neater and easier for my wife to use,
2. we bought a PHEV and the Universal Connector has both the Tesla adapter for our Model S, and a J1772A connector for the PHEV. Switching is quick and slick.
3. if/when Tesla rolls out Home Backup for the rest of us (currently Cybertuck only), the Universal Wall Connector SHOULD work, although other components are required that will far exceed the cost of the wall connector.
NEMA may cost $450 for labor and parts, but installing a Wall Connector will cost about that much PLUS the $640 for the Wall Connector unit. So it's $450 for NEMA vs $1,100 for a Wall Connector..
If I got any facts wrong I'm sure someone will correct me.

Get the universal ($600) if you have non Tesla EV’s or want to daisy chain multiple chargers together for power sharing.
Get the regular wall connector if you have a Tesla ($450).

Ordered our Y Jan26. Came with free paint upgrade. Pickup is in 5 hours!! Last night my agent added 0.99% for me.
Bought Santa Fe PHEV 18 months ago. Love it. Bought Tesla universal charger at Best Buy. Wright Hennepin Electric recommended electrician. So did BB. Install bids ranged $850-$3500. WHE guy was lowest and did great permitted/ inspected job including new additional meter box provided free by WHE. WHE then came out and for no charge plugged in a second meter just for the Tesla Charger.
My Tesla charging cost is now time of day based: $0.06/kwh (10pm-5am); $0.13 (5am-5pm), or $0.31 (5pm-10pm). I love my $0.06! - plus no surcharges when WHE has unusual situations and needs to pay more, which is normally passed thru. All the rest of my household electrical usage is the normal $0.13.

I also came from a Hyundai - a 22 Sonata. Also to a white MY! I thought this generation of Hyundai engine was going to be way more reliable but.... a leaky valve cover, failed PCV ( which required a second valve cover), random idle issues, oh and one time a Hyundai mechanic forgot to put a gasket back on so it ran without oil once when it leaked out after 20mins... I immediately turned it off but I never fully trusted that engine again. So I dumped it before the warranty was up and CarMax was offering ~7K less than I paid for it 5 years ago - I'm not looking back and loving the Y so far.

I’ll hit you with something I did, take your charger for the 220v to Lowe’s or Home Depot. Look at the outlets and find one that fits. Get an electrician (if you are not electrical savvy) and have them install it outside of your house with a weather protected outlet box around it. Does the exact same thing as the wall connector, except it’s maybe $50-60. Don’t give Tesla $600 for a fancy looking piece of plastic you’ll need to call an electrician to install anyways.

Sure, the mobile connector will suffice connected with a NEMA 14-50 and a 50A circuit breaker.
I chose to install a Tesla wall connector back in 2015 when I bought my Model S. It is one of the best decisions I've made with regards to switching to exclusive EV ownership. Coming home, stepping out, turning to the wall connector, undraping it and plugging it in ***is not*** overrated. The convenience is real and you get to keep the mobile connector in your trunk for an emergency connection if you ever need it. If you are concerned about the cost of installing the wall connector and you own your residence you should think about the future sale and being able to advertise that your garage, carport or driveway is EV charging ready. That thought helped me decide to install one.
