Couldn’t pass up the 0.99%

Vanilla_gurilla7 | 2026-02-17 19:41 | 231 views

Been wanting one since the refresh. Finally pulled the trigger. MY PREMIUM RWD. I can’t get away with just the 110v outlet, due to my commute being about 70mi M-F. The occasional trip to the beach 1-3 times a year, that’s about 200mi one way. Is the NEMA 14-50 ample amount of charging, outside of using superchargers for trips? Or is the upgrade to the wall connector worth the extra price for that upgrade?

I will always recommend wall connector if the install doesn’t break the bank. Nema is fine, but can throttle when it gets hot.

ThaiTum 2026-02-17 19:47

I’ve used a 14-50 for the last 13 years of EVs though we limit it to 32 amps. Never had a problem fully recharging overnight.

Medium_Confusion_ 2026-02-17 19:51

NEMA will be fine. You can limit to 32A which at 240V is 7.6kWh which is more than enough to fully charge overnight.

rwhe83 2026-02-17 20:01

Tesla really knows how to suck people in…

MoistMonarch 2026-02-17 20:05

Yeah lmao

Saloncinx 2026-02-17 20:05

I have a NEMA 14-50 and have been using the mobile charger for 2 years with out issue. I should have just paid the little more for the wall charger. If I could do it again I would just do the hard wired wall charger

Balancedone_1 2026-02-17 20:09

Nema is enough, I only went with the wall charger for WiFi and not having to plug in daily.

voodoo_mama_juju1123 2026-02-17 20:14

I’m with you brother. Getting one for my wife and trading in her 2021 model 3.

drdonger60 2026-02-17 20:14

Congrats! Unbeatable car for the money.

Vanilla_gurilla7 2026-02-17 20:33

Ikr! They got me with the 1%, but also our current suv (23 Palisade) is giving us fits with check engine lights, Evap and ESC codes. No better time than 1%, right?

Vanilla_gurilla7 2026-02-17 20:34

Okay. I’m wanting the wall charger, mainly to “buy once, cry once, but going to get quotes for both.

Vanilla_gurilla7 2026-02-17 20:34

Ty! Hard to beat 1%

Vanilla_gurilla7 2026-02-17 20:35

Lmk what you get if you beat me to it.

I am just hoping for some nice deal for the Performance

Saloncinx 2026-02-17 20:46

I was being cheap. The mobile charger came with my car for free so I only had to pay to install the 14-50, but that install price was the same weather I wanted the plug or a hard wire. I just didn’t want to spend the money on the wall charger. Don’t make the same mistake I did haha

RMCapricorn84 2026-02-17 20:48

Well, they know how to make a fun car to drive

boogi3woogie 2026-02-17 20:48

I was on the fence to swap out my m3. But new model y’s won’t have autopilot. Guess i’ll autopilot my old m3 to 200k miles.

IGNORED34 2026-02-17 20:50

Your wife not going to miss auto steer?

voodoo_mama_juju1123 2026-02-17 20:51

She is gonna just sub to FSD. The autosteer on her car is adequate but still will phantom break and scare the crap out of you way more that my 2025 model 3 does for whatever reason.

voodoo_mama_juju1123 2026-02-17 20:52

Absolutely!

Roxxersboxxerz 2026-02-17 21:12

This was at 0% for the last month or so in the uk

FedRP24 2026-02-17 21:18

Buying a brand new car = big depreciation within a few years. Who knew?

icy1007 2026-02-17 21:23

Good deal. Do you actually qualify for 0.99%? Have you already gotten a financing offer with that APR? Tesla includes the mobile connector with every vehicle except the “Standard” cars.

mattsurl 2026-02-17 21:30

If your round trip is 70 miles you’ll be fine using the mobile charger every other night. Worst case scenario, you could always supercharge for 10 min for the beach trips. We have 2 Tesla’s and been using the mobile charger only for 3 years now. Ive had the Tesla home charger for more than 2 years now but haven’t had the chance to install it yet.

AwkwardlyPositioned 2026-02-17 21:35

My commute is 80 miles.  14-50 will cover you.  I do it on 14-30 in the dead of winter with no issues and I have a much less efficient previous gen Y Performance.

MelodicComputer5 2026-02-17 21:50

If only can I convince my partner.. would get rid of 23mylr for a juniper.

spacecadet610 2026-02-17 22:00

Me too, ordered th MY Premium RWD yesterday. I already have a 2021 Y AWD and wanted to transfer the FSD before end of match. What kind of weather where you live? I was debating AWD vs RWD but I test drove the RWD. and it seemed fine. Don't get much snow or ice where I live. I'd suggest getting a wall connector for convenience

Aggie90dc 2026-02-17 22:01

Me too! Been waiting & pulled the trigger on Sunday as soon as the wife saw the .99% financing. But my delivery says 3-5 weeks.

cabs2kinkos 2026-02-17 22:12

100% wall connector is far superior and provides faster charging than the mobile device.

Top_Transportation_8 2026-02-17 22:29

Nema = 450$ or 650$ Wall Charger?

Top_Transportation_8 2026-02-17 22:32

So is the Premium RWD Model Y the equivalent to Long Range?

ZeroOnyx 2026-02-17 22:37

Yes it was just renamed to premium

MattKozFF 2026-02-17 22:39

It's the autosteer move that has me on the bubble.

Top_Transportation_8 2026-02-17 22:39

Thank you 😊

herdofcorgis 2026-02-17 22:42

I didn’t want to buy a new one, but my M3 was totaled in an accident last weekend, and the dash cams saved my ass as the driver I hit claimed I ran red. We just took possession of our MY today.

Blue_Kayak 2026-02-17 23:08

I can haz in Canadaland?

Blue_Kayak 2026-02-17 23:09

Won’t be upside down though

joelrwilliams1 2026-02-17 23:21

Check with you local power company, they may cover some of the installation fees of the wall charger.

Ok_Barber_28 2026-02-17 23:52

Wonder when they lower the lease prices

LordFaquaad 2026-02-17 23:59

Is this the one with thr black headliner and the larger screen?

Jasonmason1589 2026-02-18 00:13

Still holding out for the Y L

LightxDarkness93 2026-02-18 00:44

Welcome to the club!!

SwissKnife007 2026-02-18 00:45

14-50 receptacle is better option. Works with Tesla included Mobile charger as well. Gives 32 miles per hour. You can buy my ChargePoint NEMA 6-50 and use a 20 bucks adapter to connect to 14-50 receptacle. Should give 37 miles per hour.

SpaceForceRemorse 2026-02-18 00:58

I have a 2023 Y, and I have to say Autosteer sucks and honestly is kind of dangerous.

spikespike7 2026-02-18 01:00

40amp minimum if you have winters. 50amp is best.

HiroyukiC1296 2026-02-18 01:14

Took advantage of the 1 free upgrade last time. Got it while it lasted.

Cant_Pickaname 2026-02-18 01:30

Missed the new screen and now this by a couple weeks. Hate the should coulda woulda waited. Love my car but feel like my timing sucks. If it was something like HW5 I would be devastated.

Top_Transportation_8 2026-02-18 02:03

@HushHushHero I don't know 😐 was Asking because Tesla has 450$ and 650$ Charger now along with there 350$ For moblie charger. Or is Nema different brand charger

osten205 2026-02-18 02:07

I got a splitter for my dryer plug and just use that.

Vanilla_gurilla7 2026-02-18 02:41

Mobile charger comes “free” with my purchase as well.

Vanilla_gurilla7 2026-02-18 02:42

US

PrizeMeans 2026-02-18 02:43

Who cares how fast it charges when you plug it in overnight?

PrizeMeans 2026-02-18 02:45

Lol.. I charge mobile with a NEMA 10-30 receptacle (so outdated it can’t be used in new homes) and it is more than enough to fully charge my car every night.

PrizeMeans 2026-02-18 02:48

NEMA is just using an adapter with the mobile connector for whatever outlet you already have at home.

Vanilla_gurilla7 2026-02-18 02:53

What country??

Vanilla_gurilla7 2026-02-18 02:53

What’s that? I’m dumb

Elvis-Is-Alive 2026-02-18 03:05

Got my 3 when 0.99% was available with a free upgrade (white interior) right before the $7500 incentive went away. Best decision ever. Congrats.

Vanilla_gurilla7 2026-02-18 03:05

Yeah, already got sent the deal from Tesla. My credit is elite.

Vanilla_gurilla7 2026-02-18 03:06

That’s the stuff I need to hear

Vanilla_gurilla7 2026-02-18 03:07

Great info. Thank you

Vanilla_gurilla7 2026-02-18 03:08

Good question! I’m also curious

N8Howell33 2026-02-18 03:19

I’ve owned 3 Tesla’s over 9 years and only used the mobile charger with zero issues. It’s more than enough. The only way I’d say wall connector is if your power company offers something.

Vanilla_gurilla7 2026-02-18 03:26

How does that make sense?

Vanilla_gurilla7 2026-02-18 03:27

1%? Who knew that either? What’s your apr?

Slayerz00m 2026-02-18 03:37

🎉 Congrats 🎉 70 mile one way or round trip? Tesla wall charger installation costs are much higher, so nema might be the better financial choice

Jasonmason1589 2026-02-18 03:46

The long wheelbase version only avail in china currently.

Vanilla_gurilla7 2026-02-18 03:54

Did you read the post?

GoSh4rks 2026-02-18 04:22

A 14-50 is plenty.

Vanilla_gurilla7 2026-02-18 04:42

Couldn’t tell ya. Hopefully, I guess

Suspicious-V3rbatim 2026-02-18 05:26

Im waiting for the performance awd at 0% or atleast 1%. 🤞

WhiteBandit27 2026-02-18 05:57

Wished Performance was 0.99%

ahg41 2026-02-18 06:10

Congratulations!

Aerieudite 2026-02-18 06:20

If you're just going to add a socket, installing a 14-50 circuit costs essentially the same as 10-40. You may never need the extra charging speed, but why limit your options. You can select any charging amps you like from the vehicle or the phone app. Charge on Solar, for most installations, will rarely if ever exceed 32 amps without also drawing from the grid, which kind of defeats the point of solar. After a few years using the mobile connector, I finally purchased a Universal Wall Connector. I would never charge at the max speed (11.5kWh), but 1. the connector is just neater and easier for my wife to use, 2. we bought a PHEV and the Universal Connector has both the Tesla adapter for our Model S, and a J1772A connector for the PHEV. Switching is quick and slick. 3. if/when Tesla rolls out Home Backup for the rest of us (currently Cybertuck only), the Universal Wall Connector SHOULD work, although other components are required that will far exceed the cost of the wall connector. NEMA may cost $450 for labor and parts, but installing a Wall Connector will cost about that much PLUS the $640 for the Wall Connector unit. So it's $450 for NEMA vs $1,100 for a Wall Connector.. If I got any facts wrong I'm sure someone will correct me.

ZealousidealExam640 2026-02-18 11:30

This. I got $700 back in 2025 from the state’s EV charging equipment rebate program. Although I just got a tax form for it, so you will be taxed on the rebate eventually.

wexlaxx 2026-02-18 13:17

Get the universal ($600) if you have non Tesla EV’s or want to daisy chain multiple chargers together for power sharing. Get the regular wall connector if you have a Tesla ($450).

videoguy75 2026-02-18 14:23

Ordered our Y Jan26. Came with free paint upgrade. Pickup is in 5 hours!! Last night my agent added 0.99% for me. Bought Santa Fe PHEV 18 months ago. Love it. Bought Tesla universal charger at Best Buy. Wright Hennepin Electric recommended electrician. So did BB. Install bids ranged $850-$3500. WHE guy was lowest and did great permitted/ inspected job including new additional meter box provided free by WHE. WHE then came out and for no charge plugged in a second meter just for the Tesla Charger. My Tesla charging cost is now time of day based: $0.06/kwh (10pm-5am); $0.13 (5am-5pm), or $0.31 (5pm-10pm). I love my $0.06! - plus no surcharges when WHE has unusual situations and needs to pay more, which is normally passed thru. All the rest of my household electrical usage is the normal $0.13.

mynewhoustonaccount 2026-02-18 16:48

I also came from a Hyundai - a 22 Sonata. Also to a white MY! I thought this generation of Hyundai engine was going to be way more reliable but.... a leaky valve cover, failed PCV ( which required a second valve cover), random idle issues, oh and one time a Hyundai mechanic forgot to put a gasket back on so it ran without oil once when it leaked out after 20mins... I immediately turned it off but I never fully trusted that engine again. So I dumped it before the warranty was up and CarMax was offering ~7K less than I paid for it 5 years ago - I'm not looking back and loving the Y so far.

fried_fish88 2026-02-18 17:47

If you want save some money consider nema 6-20 that’s what I have rn

Ssago96 2026-02-18 19:49

Almost pulled the trigger at 0% apr here in europe but selling my current car was an pain in the ass

HeadHashGnome 2026-02-18 21:23

I’ll hit you with something I did, take your charger for the 220v to Lowe’s or Home Depot. Look at the outlets and find one that fits. Get an electrician (if you are not electrical savvy) and have them install it outside of your house with a weather protected outlet box around it. Does the exact same thing as the wall connector, except it’s maybe $50-60. Don’t give Tesla $600 for a fancy looking piece of plastic you’ll need to call an electrician to install anyways.

NecessaryInternet603 2026-02-18 21:56

Sure, the mobile connector will suffice connected with a NEMA 14-50 and a 50A circuit breaker. I chose to install a Tesla wall connector back in 2015 when I bought my Model S. It is one of the best decisions I've made with regards to switching to exclusive EV ownership. Coming home, stepping out, turning to the wall connector, undraping it and plugging it in ***is not*** overrated. The convenience is real and you get to keep the mobile connector in your trunk for an emergency connection if you ever need it. If you are concerned about the cost of installing the wall connector and you own your residence you should think about the future sale and being able to advertise that your garage, carport or driveway is EV charging ready. That thought helped me decide to install one.

NecessaryInternet603 2026-02-18 22:01

"scare the crap out of you" = mini adrenalin dump and I know perfectly what you mean.

NecessaryInternet603 2026-02-18 22:02

You don't need to worry about HW5 until 2027.

Cant_Pickaname 2026-02-18 22:17

Curious what the “must upgrade” factor will be for HW5 if HW4 is supposed to achieve unsupervised

NecessaryInternet603 2026-02-18 22:50

HW4 has achieved unsupervised status in the 2026 Model Y and has entered the early stages of ramping in Austin, TX.

Pomador_0418 2026-02-18 23:25

Did you know that your EV has no autosteer?

Moist_Researcher5413 2026-02-18 23:33

Wall connector all day…..worth every penny especially if you can take advantage of local power company incentives and charger rebates

Public-Practice-4032 2026-02-19 02:01

honestly just spend a few more bucks and get the wall connector. it looks nice and the best recommendation by Tesla.

Ok-Lengthiness7171 2026-02-19 03:26

That is barely a 3 year old car. So you financed from a 3 year old car?

Actual_Student_4051 2026-02-19 14:00

The new Prius

OrderFlowsTrader 2026-02-19 15:18

The NEMA is the best way to go at home.

OrderFlowsTrader 2026-02-19 15:18

What I did too.

OrderFlowsTrader 2026-02-19 15:18

0.99% for how long?

OrderFlowsTrader 2026-02-19 15:19

The Palisade has the warranty probably on it.

OrderFlowsTrader 2026-02-19 15:20

What is difference between 3 and Y?

voodoo_mama_juju1123 2026-02-19 17:54

Size mainly. There are some different features the Y has over the 3 but size would be the biggest difference imo. Check out a video on YouTube about their difference it would do a lot better explaining them then I could do

OrderFlowsTrader 2026-02-19 18:05

I want to get the M3. Is is wide like the Model S? Love that S broad ass but cannot afford it. They said the new 26 M3 has a wide ass now?

voodoo_mama_juju1123 2026-02-19 18:05

No definitely not as wide as the S imo! I would test drive both but when I drove a model s before it felt way bigger of a car compared to my 25 model 3

OrderFlowsTrader 2026-02-19 18:07

Is the 3 as wide in the back now as the S I believe?

OrderFlowsTrader 2026-02-19 18:12

I limit to 30 amps.

OrderFlowsTrader 2026-02-19 18:13

I use the Leviton made for EVs.

Comfortable_Put4473 2026-02-20 01:18

Comfortable_Put4473 2026-02-20 01:19

sajal_1986 2026-02-20 03:48

0 % are for standard models not premium Premium is 0.99% I too am in dilemma right now, whether I should take this opportunity and trade my 2015 Rav4 for new M-Y Premium, considering my daily avg commute is not more than 8-10 miles and very ocassional 15+ miles

sajal_1986 2026-02-20 03:54

0% for standard 0.99% for premium models

Fast_StreetTwin_2016 2026-02-20 13:10

Why? The 23 MY is a fantastic vehicle and not worth trading up to a Juniper, imo. Not enough vehicle to justify the expense.

Fast_StreetTwin_2016 2026-02-20 13:11

But the dryer plug is not EV rated and potentially a fire hazard.

MelodicComputer5 2026-02-20 14:01

I wholeheartedly agree. Juniper is such an eye candy. But not worth the upgrade. Ride comfort is the only thing that matters. My family complains all the time about stiff ride.

osten205 2026-02-20 16:39

Can you explain what and ev rated outlet is? It’s rated for a giant hair drier that runs for an hour on full bast.

Full_Tap_4144 2026-02-21 00:03

I have my car set to charge midnight - 6am with time of use metering. 14-50 outlet. I think it adds about 30 miles an hour? Plenty for the 6 hours.

ObjectLow2856 2026-02-21 18:44

Great deal, plus u get to deduct the .99% of interest at year end

sajal_1986 2026-02-21 22:24

And couldn't resist the temptation anymore and booked it yesterday lol..delivery on Monday 02/23 MY premium RWD Quick Silver🙂

Vanilla_gurilla7 2026-02-27 15:25

Had to settle for a 30amp. But it’s plenty for our 50mi commute m.
