If you can afford then going for premium is a no brainer. I’d even go so far as to say if you can’t afford it I’d hold off and save up the difference.

Power folding mirrors, actual decent front trunk, matrix headlights, power folding rear seats, 16 vs 15.4 screen, black vs grey headliner, no heated rear seats, smaller battery, no FM radio

I own a 2026 MY AWD LR and haven't driven a "Standard" version of the car, but the car we have is, as my wife puts it, "Just so damn fun and easy to drive." There's a lot that goes into that assessment, the great sound system, the ventilated seats, the other interior touches, a frunk area that's clean, the acoustic glass for better ride quality, etc., etc., etc. The only thing that really doesn't matter much to us is the glass roof.....we have it covered with an easily installed interior mesh we got from Tesla.

I took the premium because of the following things:
• Leather seats, ventilated -> had this in my old car and loved it.
• Physical Seat controls -> nice but not necessary
• Electronic steering wheel adjustment -> nice but also not necessary
• Light bars (front and back) -> yes, absolutely. I love the light bars
• Premium Audio with Subwoofer -> I need a great sound system. This is one of the most important things for me
• Glass roof -> my kids love to glass roof. In summer it can get pretty hot inside
• Ambient Lighting -> nice but not a reason for premium
• 8" rear screen -> cool if your kids are allowed to watch movies, will take 1-2 years for mine
• Faster 250 kw charging - 169 miles in 15 mins -> I do 2 roadtrips a year, so not a huge deal for me
• Longer range -> I have to drive about 40 miles a day, so also not a huge problem for me
I also thought about getting the standard model but then I asked myself how often would I buy a brand new car again in my life.
I didn’t think twice and got the premium.
And I love it. Best car I have ever had.

AWD Std with 0% and 7k less than Premium AWD seems to be a good deal / value than RWD Std.

If it wasn’t for your comment I would’ve order the standard. I went to Tesla and they’re offering 0%APR on STANDARD Model Y’s only and for that I was going to take it home that day…. Until I opened the Trunk and Frunk then looked into the setting and saw they really took away around $8k-$10k of features and designs to break down cost. Like you said how often does someone buy a new car. In four years it’s still going to compete with a newer fleet.
