Help -- damaged door trim

cgm55082 | 2026-02-16 04:08 | 29 views

Does anyone know how difficult it is to replace the top trim panel of the rear door on a Juniper Y? Mine has a hole puncture in it as you can see in the picture. I'm wondering if the whole door panel has to be replaced or if just that top piece can be replaced separate of the rest of the panel?

Look at the parts in EPC.tesla.com. Will tell you if whole door or individual part

A cheaper solution is to buy a stick-on door trim. Can cover up the puncture.

You could probably tell if it could be replaced by looking at the parts catalog from within the service section of app. Most of the time the do door panel is standard with the only parts that are replaceable would be trim pieces that vary by interior spec.

How the heck did you do that?!

You replaced the whole interior door panel? Was it plug and play with all of the existing wiring? Was the emergency door opening cable or any of the other physical connections an issue?

Just had the mirror done on my juniper - tech pulled 3 bolts peeled the door like a banana, 3 more bolts plus a clip for the mirror. Back together and on the road in 20 minutes.

My service center did something similar to mine. They had a mobile service come out to replace it and it came as a whole panel. Only part they reused was the trim (white or wood) from the damaged panel.

The Tesla website has instructions for removal. There are a bunch of clips to pry loose. https://service.tesla.com/docs/ModelY/ServiceManual/en-us/GUID-A1113453-D65F-4779-B2C0-00D36D1C95B1.html Dismantlers will sell you a replacement for a fraction of a new one.

Idk if it'll be plug and play. When Tesla replaces a door panel for New Model Y or Refresh Model 3, they hook up their laptop into your Tesla and I think it's related to the ambient lighting strip. You could request service from Tesla and see how much it costs for the door + installation but also emphasize to them that the tech doesn't damage the car when removing your panel trim and installing the new one.

Looks like $550 for the entire door panel. https://epc.tesla.com/en-US/catalogs/71faf230-35bb-4d6b-b030-2a0c69aa706f/categories/071b2f97-bc26-4592-8277-e96a40ac3c7b/subcategories/e1f92db6-33de-4a22-b3e5-23e18ffde0f2/systemGroups/32571432-cd27-45db-a105-b05a74ce74ec

It’s the whole door. https://epc.tesla.com/en-US/catalogs/71faf230-35bb-4d6b-b030-2a0c69aa706f/categories/071b2f97-bc26-4592-8277-e96a40ac3c7b/subcategories/e1f92db6-33de-4a22-b3e5-23e18ffde0f2/systemGroups/32571432-cd27-45db-a105-b05a74ce74ec

Thanks for all the replies -- I appreciate it. I bought a used door panel off of ebay (exact part number match) and will just replace the panel. Seems pretty straightforward to do.

Thats is correct.

Don’t think any need for laptop configuration. https://service.tesla.com/docs/Model3/ServiceManual/2024/en-us/GUID-F9653397-0726-4AEA-B94F-18DA2F87A727.html
