Seat creased after 1 day of ownership

ImaBadDuck | 2026-02-15 22:30 | 15 views

I've put 22 miles on the car and the drivers outermost bolster is already deeply creased. I can on imagine this gets much worse from here. Should I push for replacement or just accept? I'm 6'2 210 for size reference.

I'll add that the cushion inside doesn't feel as full as the opposite bolster and the vl feels a bit looser on top of the filling.

Certain things as a car owner I've learned to accept and creases or wear and tear on seats is one of them.

LibMike 2026-02-15 22:34

Both teslas I owned has this issue if the seats were used often, and I’m pretty light and skinny. After 1 day is crazy but it’ll happen regardless. The fake leather teslas uses is not that great, it’s more thin and less stiff than any others I’ve owned or sat on. (Just wait for your headrest to wear after a month or two lol)

Seats… crease

jtnoboru 2026-02-15 22:39

Creasing is normal like others have said. You can try to not make it worse by setting the easy entry mode to move as far back and low as possible to help go over the hump rather than through it.

harda_toenail 2026-02-15 22:41

That’s where your butt goes quit looking at it.

ihateduckface 2026-02-15 22:44

Is this a joke?

liam1902 2026-02-15 22:50

It happens on these seats and the Legacy Model Y seats. When getting into the car, you can't push pressure against the bolster. You need to use your foot, lift your entire body up, and then sit on the seat without touching the bolsters. That's the only way to avoid creasing on the bolsters.

No because this is after one fucking hour of seat time in a 60k car. I get that the fanbois accept anything Tesla gives them but from my perspective and after 35 years of owning cars it's not normal to accept seat wear at 23 miles.

ImaBadDuck 2026-02-15 22:52

So you accept this kind of wear on brand new shit? Interesting.

ImaBadDuck 2026-02-15 22:52

Ok buddy.

ImaBadDuck 2026-02-15 22:53

My point is this kind of wear after 23 miles is comical.

KRONOS_415 2026-02-15 22:53

He went in on your ass! FAHHHH

LibMike 2026-02-15 22:54

Yeah, it is lol. Sorry for your downvotes, people don't like anything negative about the brand even if it is logical concerns.

Bob_Lelys 2026-02-15 22:54

Totally normal. Just accept it and live happily with the car

ImaBadDuck 2026-02-15 22:55

Right. I'm lucky they sold me a car

CopperBlitter 2026-02-15 22:56

THIS is a good reason to make a complaint about it.

Adventurous-Bet-3928 2026-02-15 22:57

Ok Karen

corbthomp11 2026-02-15 22:57

You're probably being downvoted to hell but you're absolutely right to be concerned. I have a 2023 MY with 40k miles and the seats don't even look sat in. No one should accept or expect wear like this in one day of ownership on a car that costs this much.

rwhe83 2026-02-15 23:01

Better than my luck, 1 week in someone left a huge gash in my drivers rear door. I’d live with it and I’m sure when the car heats up- it’ll be fine.

AdelesManHands 2026-02-15 23:01

Don’t sit on that part. Sit in the middle of the seat.

iampoorandsad 2026-02-15 23:02

wtfredditacct 2026-02-15 23:03

I've only put my greasy fingers on it a few times!

Lordofthereef 2026-02-15 23:03

I have never owned a vehicle that didn't have cloth seats that also didn't crease in some way. This is totally fine man.

Left-Recognition2106 2026-02-15 23:03

This is just one of 1000 examples of Tesla's terrible engineering/design/assembly failures.

D1TAC 2026-02-15 23:05

Happens to me too, same height and weight. The issue is the seats are kinda small at the base and narrow. That's my only problem with it.

DasArtmab 2026-02-15 23:08

That sucks, let it go. It’s happened to me on a couple of leather cars. Oddly enough, not on my old MY after 100k miles

CaptDawg02 2026-02-15 23:10

Is this…really a big deal? It’s like when people freak out over having a crease in their sneakers… It’s a depreciating utility…

Mean-Muffin-1765 2026-02-15 23:19

Within spec. Next.

ImaBadDuck 2026-02-16 00:05

I have Telluride which the the same kind of fake leather seats, 20k miles no creases. I would accept wear over a period of time. Wear after an hour of use is ridiculous.

ImaBadDuck 2026-02-16 00:06

Not cloth seats ffs

Lordofthereef 2026-02-16 00:07

Huh? I was saying that cloth doesn't crease. Pleather an leather do...

ImaBadDuck 2026-02-16 00:15

Tesla fans really see a flaw on Day 1 and say “yeah that’s fine.” Clown shit.

CaptDawg02 2026-02-16 00:29

Totally different designed seat. I had the Palisade and it does crease. Put 68k on it and traded that crap box in for the Juniper. Hell, my Mercedes GLS 450 creased as well. Cracking is a concern tho…

ImaBadDuck 2026-02-16 00:50

Vicious.

corbthomp11 2026-02-16 01:26

Shits so ridiculous and weird yo.

here-to-crap-on-it 2026-02-16 03:44

Normal wear and tear. Maybe the car is too expensive for you? If you want something done, contact Tesla and have it handled, stop whining to strangers on the Internet.

Ekoria 2026-02-16 05:58

don't sit on the bolsters

ImaBadDuck 2026-02-16 15:17

Normal wear and tear after a single day of ownership. This is what you muh tesla maxis accept lol. 🤡

here-to-crap-on-it 2026-02-16 15:23

I'm sorry it's hard for you. If you don't get in and out of the seat correctly maybe it happens faster? Clearly you are not a good fit for the car, return immediately.

aim4squirrels 2026-02-16 23:32

Is this newer Standard Y seat, or the premium pleather seats?  A steamer can get wrinkles out of most materials, but you need to make sure to watch a couple videos on how to do it first. I'm not sure what the material is on the new standard MY, it how it works react to steam/heat.

ImaBadDuck 2026-02-17 00:23

The MYP bolstered seats. Same material as the other Ys.

aim4squirrels 2026-02-17 01:45

Steam, but it's gonna come back.

ImaBadDuck 2026-02-17 02:04

Appreciate the help, I'll try that.

aim4squirrels 2026-02-17 02:09

Lots of YouTube videos on steaming leather car upholstery. Do watch several before attempting, and especially any about vegan leather.
