24 MYLR AWD is this normal range?

Good_Technician2299 | 2026-02-15 17:20 | 25 views

I feel like this is crazy low. I haven’t done a battery test, but I pretty much only supercharge since I am apartment living in LA. I’m at 24k miles right now.

It’s not crazy low - the battery degrades 10% within the first year or two.

Expert-Prune-766 2026-02-15 17:26

That's definitely low. My 23 MYLR AWD is at 33k miles and at 100% I'm at 305 miles.

ArrivalGreedy2788 2026-02-15 17:28

I have a 2021 MYLR AWD with 107k miles. 100% is 259. So yes, yours is low.

BlaineBMA 2026-02-15 17:29

Our 23MYLR had 47K miles and showed a 315 range at 100%. Wondering out loud if the range provided by the car is altered by the outside temperature....

rwhe83 2026-02-15 17:31

Crazy low eh? Sounds like you should really start obsessing here… Oh wait, you already are.

Omacrontron 2026-02-15 17:39

It’s not linear so just tossing in your two cents isn’t going to do anything g but highlight the fact you have no idea that battery degradation is not linear.

Ferox_Aeternum 2026-02-15 17:40

I have a 2024 with the bigger wheels and about 22k miles. 100% is just over 300 miles. 270 miles if it’s really cold. Yours seems a little low especially for a warmer climate.

JonCohen3D 2026-02-15 17:41

Is it just the first time you've looked at your range?

Adventurous-Bet-3928 2026-02-15 17:45

10% in a year is delusional

Significant_Bus935 2026-02-15 17:46

This.

PrizeMeans 2026-02-15 17:52

About 20 miles lower than my 2023 with 40k miles.

Puzzleheaded-Race671 2026-02-15 18:04

Normal but maybe a little heavy degradation but it’s fine most of the damage is the first 3 years

Puzzleheaded-Race671 2026-02-15 18:05

Man as great as Tesla is their battery tech feels like it’s behind the competition granted Tesla builds more for reliability and long term health but the charging curves suck and the degradation is bad both need work

Which-Return-607 2026-02-15 18:06

Way too low def not normal

Feisty_Crab7052 2026-02-15 18:12

Im so grateful I didn’t get range anxiety. I have enough of other anxieties. lol

Good_Technician2299 2026-02-15 18:14

lol I usually keep it in percentage and just drive cause, there’s no point in looking at the miles, if I have to drive anyway, just wondering if this is on par with other Teslas

rdubmu 2026-02-15 18:15

Not a year… like total. I have a 2023 performance at 42k miles and I am at 84.5%

StephanPNguyen 2026-02-15 18:17

You lost like 60 miles prob from super charge only?

Competitive_Yak_6247 2026-02-15 18:20

wtf is laptop mode ? How did I know about this feature I don’t need but now I absolutely do whatever it is

JonCohen3D 2026-02-15 18:20

Fair enough! I agree with all of that.

hookem419 2026-02-15 18:22

At 100 yes this is kinda low you might wanna do a battery health test an then consider how cold it is around you. My 26 my awd at 80% is 261

Competitive_Yak_6247 2026-02-15 18:22

10% in the first 1-2 years is not only normal it’s per spec . That’s how most lion battery items work. Then it settles and the rate is much much lower after that initial loss. Take a peek on the forums

Good_Technician2299 2026-02-15 18:24

Oh it’s my local save profile, I do a lot of work on my laptop and just use it when I charge. Seats all the way back and steering wheel all the way forward and use a table. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP89Tf2nA/ like this kid

Competitive_Yak_6247 2026-02-15 18:27

Ahhhh you named it that lol gotcha nice

runner292 2026-02-15 18:28

Normal, newer Tesla packs degrade like crazy. Have the same year with 10k miles and only get slightly more than you on a full charge. The miles it shows is basically “sticker - degradation”, it doesn’t look at weather or driving patterns. To look at a more realistic range estimate, go to the energy app.

Vincent7777 2026-02-15 18:31

Hmm damn seems like a mixed bag. I’m in the exact same situation as you, 25k miles, same model and mostly do supercharge with occasional slow charge, and I have been wondering the same thing. My full charge is nearly identical, maybe 275 max. I knew my degradation would be on the high end from how much I’m driving/supercharging, but I guess it still surprised me by how much it went down and what is now considered a full charge. All the same as I plan to drive it into the ground. Genuine question and something I’m wondering if you have been thinking about as well; any incentive for “pushing it” to the point where we qualify for a battery replacement under the warranty

jkudlacz 2026-02-15 18:32

Which tires? Also how do you drive? You should check power consumption per mile. This will tell us more. I have 71k miles Model Y LR - 100% gives me around 278-283 miles but we usually drive with 4 people in the car 80% of the time and we got Michelin Sport All Season tires which drop range by 8-12% so. I think our consumption is around 282 Wh/mile

Good_Technician2299 2026-02-15 18:41

I usually drive alone, still on OEM tires, normal mode, drive between LA and Vegas

FearTheClown5 2026-02-15 18:43

You need to take your charge around 20% and let the car sit 3-4 hours completely off so the BMS can get a reading down there. That means no Sentry, don't open the door, don't wake it up in the app. Then charge it up to your charge level. This will get the BMS to calibrate and provide a more accurate guess of your charge level. This miles number is just miles based on your current kwh in the pack * rated range per kwh, nothing else. However the BMS relies on getting readings across your pack range to stay accurate, to improve its guess. Usually the most troublesome is the bottom of the pack and it will fade more than it really has to ensure you don't run out of battery at 5%. Alternatively you can do the battery health test which will force the same to occur by dragging the battery down then charging it up.

PapaPapi33 2026-02-15 18:49

2023 MYLR - 20,000 miles and 310 Range at 100%.

382_27600 2026-02-15 18:53

And maybe driving characteristics? My 23 MYLR was ~281 the last time I charged it 100%.

Sheldon_tiger 2026-02-15 19:01

Wheels. What is your wheel size?

Sheldon_tiger 2026-02-15 19:05

20s are rated for 280. 21s im not sure. 19s woth aero covers will put the lr about 300. I have a 24lr with 20s induction, 93% is 255-257. I figured i get 2.3 miles per %. So full charge is just shy of 270. On 20s. If you are 19s, that could be degradation, but probably more in line with true expectations. Don't do the battery test until you are near the latter half of the battery warranty and drive the car.

Febrile83 2026-02-15 19:07

I notice you leave same useless comment. Do you have anything useful to add?

Floating_Bus 2026-02-15 19:55

My ‘21 MYLR says 261, but I have 96k miles, it was at 263, 15k miles ago.

runner292 2026-02-15 20:19

In a few years, there’s going to be a ton of these posts I’m willing to bet. It seems packs from ‘23 onwards are routinely degrading 10+ percent in the first year. Keep in mind, even if you push it the replacement pack is not a new one, it will be used as well so you might get something with 100% capacity or you might get something with 80% capacity.

jkudlacz 2026-02-15 20:49

Check tire pressure and speed - anything above 70 mph affects range 75, 80 really affects it. Still check battery health you should be doing way better than ours 280.2 Wh/mi lifetime after 71,403 miles

dnguyen823 2026-02-15 21:01

Did you take off hubcaps? That can drop range by like 10-20 miles.

wtfredditacct 2026-02-15 23:13

I mean, the weather doesn't get much better than LA. I think lead foot and highway driving probably past into it more

Schnitzhole 2026-02-15 23:40

If you drive fast it will use more (most people in those areas drive very fast in my experience so the reduction is perfectly acceptable). Ive found it to be pretty accurate with my 26 MY AWD (it’s always within +-2% of predicted if using FSD 100% of the time). Also do you have any other exterior mods? Even empty roofracks can reduce range 5% The battery health degradation is much faster in the beginning of owning to abiut 80-85% and then it levels off and stays around there never really getting under 70-75% from what I’ve seen posted.

Best-Republic 2026-02-16 00:07

Just do a battery test for range. The consumption is different for different people on how they drive and that is what is used to convert the battery to miles.

laz1b01 2026-02-16 00:34

I'm always curious about this statement that keeps being thrown around "there's no point in looking at the miles" I completely disagree. % is relative. If it was 20miles at 100%, I wouldn't know that I'm able to drive 20miles. Whereas if it's switched to miles, then I know for me to get 20miles of actual driving distance - I would have to drive conservatively. (I can get 14miles if I drive normally, and get 10miles if I drive aggressively)

Enragedocelot 2026-02-16 03:06

Percentages all the way.

clipse270 2026-02-16 03:34

My 24 LR at 15k miles shows 300 mi at 100

blueorangan 2026-02-16 06:37

this is at 100%? That is low.

Lephturn 2026-02-16 20:33

1. Mileage is not important in the first 2 years. Almost all of the degradation simply based on time. 2. That particular estimate is not very accurate. Range is affected greatly by temperature, wind, tire pressure, wheel size, acceleration profile, and of course speed. So many different factors that that basic estimate will be wildly inaccurate. 3. Just set it to % and stop worrying about it. 4. If you really want to check your battery health do a proper battery health check.

Olof88888 2026-02-16 23:20

279mi is the range of the standard range awd. You sure you have long range? The standard awd was later replaced with the base model with rwd.

Good_Technician2299 2026-02-17 03:25

Yknow this is a valid question, but yes haha I know what car I financed I’m very heavily up to date on all things Tesla. Yes I have a dual motor long range awd

Olof88888 2026-02-17 05:05

yeah then I think your range is bad. I hope you get a new battery for free somehow :-)

Good_Technician2299 2026-02-17 05:05

Yeah :/// thank you!!!

Glad_Bluebird_9115 2026-02-18 00:30

My MYLR 22 has 88k miles on it 100% I get 280

OceanMaster67 2026-02-19 02:21

Yes

OceanMaster67 2026-02-19 02:24

I hope you're not charging to 100% everytime. That will shorten your battery life. MYLR 2023 125,000 and I have 243mi range at 80%.
