Parking outside ???

oldboeee | 2026-02-14 20:56 | 11 views

Hello everybody! I am thinking about getting a Tesla model y because I really love EVs but I don't have garage space. My family already have two EVs in the garage right now. Will it be ok to park the Tesla outside 24/7 year round? I am afraid the battery and the touch screen will malfunction with the hot sun during the summer. I live in southern California btw. If anyone has any info or advice, please share. Thank you!

At least use roof and windshield shades. My wife just bought me a set of them, and I’ll augment them with a rear hatch window shade.

22 MYLR is outside 24/7 in New England. No real issues other than so iced up handles once in a while in the winter.

Wife and I have two Teslas and live in the Central Coast of CA. They stay on our driveway year round. It’s 70 and sunny 340 days per year bro you’re fine lol

Yup, same here. Southern Maine. I just figured out that you can press the opposite side of the handle and it pops out, breaking the ice.

You can also unlatch the door in the app.

Mine sits outside in socal all year and charges outside... It's fine... It's a car

Ridiculous to think you can’t park a Tesla outdoors. Sorry, probably not a car I’d suggest getting if you already can’t fathom the idea of parking it outside. You’ll spend too much time babying it if you get it. But then again, Southern CA…post checks out ✅

Mine sits outside 24/7 in Vancouver BC. No problems yet.

My 2023 Model Y has not spent a day inside. I live in the California bay area. Zero issues.

kind of a dick thing to say to someone who was genuinely asking a question..maybe somebody needs to put you outside.

Hockeyshot39 2026-02-14 22:28

Lmao kinda of low iq to ask if a CAR can be kept Outside

K3jai 2026-02-14 22:56

No issues

Hei guys, i just got a Model Y, can i drive it under the rain or will it ruin the paint?   Hi, i got a juniper model y yesterday, the wheels make a friction noise against the street when i turn them while stationary, is that normal? Im thinking in opening a service ticket.   Hi guys, i just got a 0.000001mm ding on my bumper, probably a stone that bounced, can I still drive it or is dangerous?

Lmaoooooo

Almost every kind of daily driver car is outside many hours while the owner works, shops, runs errands, and travels. A few extra hours is going to have little difference.

SidewalkSpectator 2026-02-14 23:21

Yes you can

rdmc23 2026-02-15 00:12

I live in Los Angeles and it doesn’t get that hot here for the touchscreen to malfunction or whatever concern you might have. It’ll be fine.

rdmc23 2026-02-15 00:14

Hey Guys noticed my battery range decreased .01 of a percent from last month. Should I return it and trade it in for a new one?

oldboeee 2026-02-15 04:06

Holy shit asking can a car that solely functions through an ipad if it can sit in the heat year round isn't allowed around here?

Hockeyshot39 2026-02-15 04:08

It’s a pretty uneducated question, insane you think it can’t and had to ask lmao ITS A CAR - if it couldn’t last - it wouldn’t be so popular in CA - AZ - TX - FL Do you also need to know if it can drive in the rain? Or snow? Or if it’s windy lmaoooo

I think it’s a fair question. Long term owners would know about any issues with UV damage with the paint or inside the cabin.

MyChickenSucks 2026-02-15 16:52

To be fair, the hood of our black 2021 has some faint, but very obvious from close up, “stains” in the paint that are getting worse. It lives outside. It’s definitely a paint defect that’s evolving. I used ceramic/wax hybrid with a little black tint to it, hides it pretty well.
