High beams

I wish I could activate my high beams when I want and STILL have the automatic matrix dimming active. Ffs, I still need my high beams when under 40 km/h in pitch dark.

Care to elaborate on the speed issue? Since at least my old MY will keep the high beams on all the way through my suburb street driving 30kmh and only dips them off when I stop onto my yard... Only thing stupid about the auto high beams with matrix is that it will turn the high beams on waaaaay too dark snd half the time I need to use manual high beams until the darkness reaches blackness of the devils asshole...

Or in dawn/dusk on rural roads so you can spot them eyes of those hiding nasty wild creatures that are the same dark gray colour as every other tree or bush beside the road. Exept for december(when is dark enough all day that they stay on) I don't use the matrix high beams, they are too temperamental on when they are on or off.

In my juniper, I have everything set to auto. HBs does not activate before it is almost pitch dark AND I am driving above 40kmh. I want to be able to activate them before this. I know I can activate manually - but that is without the pixel autodim. Why can't I just say HBs on, keep pixel autodim on...

Exactly! I love the matrix HBs, that's why I want to be able to toggle it on way earlier.

Yeah same here! However there is a super easy fix. Drive up to 40km/h very briefly to activate the auto high beams and then you can slow down and drive however slow you want and they will still be on. I like to think that they’re speed activated instead of button activated, so just a brief accelerator push to get them on for the rest of the drive.

Damn, so stupid-ass downgrading of working functions is still in high demand back at Tesla... But yeah, it's dumb that the mateix function is also out when not in fully auto mode with the lights. I have this issue too with dusk etc.

Yeah. But if it's not pitch dark, it will not work. Driving where there are some kind of roas light deactivates it. A nightmare to see pedestrians.

Yeah you’re right, but usually during that point it’s bright enough outside for me to not need the high beams. I generally find they’re fairly well calibrated to only turn on when they would actually provide good value in terms of visibility.

Huh, I don't have this issue either. After it gets dark enough for the auto high beams to finally activate they'll stay on until the next morning. And we have lot's of roads with a few mile stretches of street lights between few dozen miles of pritch blackness. Just dips to lows and then back to highs as soon as the streelights end...

My whole point is - why can't I toggle this myself? There are way too many situations I wish I had my HBs, but i also want the individual pixel dimming. I want to overide the speed and light conditions, because they do not match me. If it reset when I leave the car, it's for the best.

Do you want auto pixel on always when HB is on?

obviousThrowAcc12 2026-02-18 17:36

I want to be able to toggle it however I'd like!
