Supervised vs. Unsupervised

Your logic isn’t wrong. It’s either never going to be available to retail consumers or it will be prohibitively expensive and require special insurance. Honestly, I don’t expect unsupervised FSD to be possible on current hardware. I also don’t expect unsupervised until 2030 at the earliest. I think the camera only system is a problem for Tesla. I expect Tesla to release robotaxis after 2030 and that they’ll include some form of LiDAR to make those cars function reliably enough. With current hardware, at best, I could see Tesla achieving a safe enough record for some hands free highway driving.
