Changed out the Performance rims for the Crossflows. Much better ride quality!

MavinMarv | 2026-02-14 00:35 | 75 views

Found a brand new set of the Juniper Crossflow 19 inch rims for $600 in LA on FB marketplace as the owner was going with third party rims. Also, got lucky and found a good New Year’s Eve online deal for $128 per tire with free shipping back in January then had America’s tire put them on with all of the warranty certificates for $500. Sold off the performance rims for $800 to offset costs. The tires are Hankook Ventus S1 EVO-SUV 255/45R19 XL 104Y. Original tires were the stock performance Hankook tires and got 55K miles out of them, but they were starting to go bald. These rims are easier to clean, have a higher weight rating (810 KGs), they are lighter, I can rotate them, can have a larger tire size, I am getting about 10 kWh/mi more efficiency, the ride quality is way better and Hankook tires are an amazing tire! Some people hate the crossflows, but honestly, I love them and the way they look.

Exactly what I’m doing this weekend. Los Angeles roads are not friendly to 21” wheels.

MavinMarv 2026-02-14 00:46

From Ventura to LA can be rough on top of the terrible traffic.

Apprehensive-Read989 2026-02-14 00:48

Looks better too. I've never been a fan of the Uberturbine wheels.

MavinMarv 2026-02-14 00:52

I still like the Uberturbines but they’re a bitch to clean and curb so easily.

lebnax 2026-02-14 00:59

Thanks for posting this, you sold me I’m totally going to do this on my MYP when it’s time to replace tires

PublicPea2194 2026-02-14 01:00

RimZZZZZZ they are wheels, but Ok

ORNGTSLA 2026-02-14 01:20

I went the aftermarket route with EVANNEX… They have full sets of 19” rims for less than $1000, it is insane value

Zestyclose_Paint3922 2026-02-14 01:28

What do you feel is improved on the ride?

fidju 2026-02-14 01:32

Drives me crazy that there is no option for Crossflows without the covers in the Tesla options for the onscreen display.

cac2573 2026-02-14 01:33

I’m interested in picking some up, but all the sellers are delusional and pricing them at like $2000 lol

midnight_to_midnight 2026-02-14 01:51

There's more sidewall to the tire. Making it a softer ride because bumps/road imperfections will be cushioned a bit more than the 21" wheel/tire setup.

Darthcannol1 2026-02-14 02:51

Oh man I have a 2023 MYP I need to do this was looking at getting 19 inch Gemini rims. These look much nicer do they just fit without any mods offsets spacers etc ?

Rjeezyx 2026-02-14 04:12

Anyone going this route highly recommended going 255/50 tires instead of the 45s they ride much more plush with no drawbacks.

MavinMarv 2026-02-14 04:14

I sent in a recommendation to Tesla to fix this hopefully they listen and make an update. You should do the same, the more the better.

Swordru 2026-02-14 04:15

You're a better man than me! I appreciate that haha! Let's keep our fingers crossed!

MavinMarv 2026-02-14 04:15

Yep fit just fine.

MavinMarv 2026-02-14 04:16

I would’ve went with the 50s but got such a good deal on 45s that I couldn’t pass up on. Also it’s the same diameter as the performance setup so no speedometer offset.

Rjeezyx 2026-02-14 04:18

I hear you on that, sometimes you have to go with the best deal for sure and you made out well.

MavinMarv 2026-02-14 04:24

I’d say the tires handle bumps better and feel more cushy than before. Feels like an upgraded suspension system with fatter tires alone.

That’s precisely why I posted it. How many legacy Ys do you see with the Juniper rims?

Whit3boy316 2026-02-14 05:11

I still can’t convince myself to lie the cross flows without the cover

Harry_Twatter_69 2026-02-14 05:20

You mean the old model with auto steer? I’d take that over the Juniper

BaySportsFan 2026-02-14 05:24

How's the steering response with the 50'series? My 255/45/19 definitely don't respond as quickly compared to the uberturbines with the 35 series tires.

Wants-NotNeeds 2026-02-14 06:54

So much venting! (I’d have to cover it up out of aerodynamic principle.)

Original-Definition2 2026-02-14 14:36

did you consider 18" ?

stopg1b 2026-02-14 16:35

I plan on doing the same soon. Also in LA I've seen someone selling sets with OEM tires pretty cheap on marketplace. I've had my car just over a month but I'm paranoid about a pothole ruining my day while I'm using fsd. After that I plan on getting the cooled seats then maybe the juniper suspension. But going from a civic type r I don't find the myp too uncomfortable even on the uberturbines so maybe 19s will be enough

Clean_Extension7234 2026-02-14 16:54

I’ll definitely be replacing my uber turbines with this setup soon. Great post!

MavinMarv 2026-02-14 17:08

I don’t have any handling problems with my 45 setup compared to the stock 35 setup. That or I just don’t drive my tesla like a race car.

rlap38 2026-02-14 22:51

Did you lower the car? Looks like less air between top of tire and wheel well than mine.

MavinMarv 2026-02-15 02:58

Nope. Just the regular performance stock lowering. Could be the angle of the shots.

Darthcannol1 2026-02-15 04:19

I can't find them used anywhere right now! Would I be able to but the rims only direct from Tesla ?

MavinMarv 2026-02-22 18:16

I’ll take the slight range hit to not have the terrible looking covers on. Also the covers scratch up the rims btw.

Whit3boy316 2026-02-22 18:20

It’s not the range. It’s that I don’t like the cross flows very much. But I may try them

MavinMarv 2026-02-22 18:30

That’s fair, the CFs aren’t for everyone. But I love 5 spoke rims on performance vehicles.
