Broken sunroof due to storm

BukChoChoi | 2026-02-13 23:33 | 18 views

There has been a huge storm around my area lately. Nothing had happened until today, when unfortunately something smashed into my sunroof and made this hole. It's fairly deep, to the point where I almost sliced my finger when running it through the impact. My question is: how expensive can this repair get? Is this something that will take ages to fix or do Tesla just swap out the glass entirely? Thanks

All of these questions can be answered in the Service section of your Tesla app. All depends on if you self pay or use insurance, depends on how busy your service center is. Actual service itself takes less than a day.

They replace the whole panel same day. Costs vary regionally, mine was $1700 this summer. I paid the deductable.

Just replaced mine back in March 2025. It was $1556 minus taxes. I went through my insurance, so I only paid the difference. It took about 3 hours for them to replace.

Damaged paint too…

I'll try and correct that, it's not deep fortunately

I tried looking at that but they wouldn't provide me with a definitive price (maybe it's a EU thing). Still thanks, good to know it won't take long, hopefully insurance doesn't screw me

Ouch. Quite steep. I hope my insurance provider covers it

Yeah, I was afraid of them having to replace the whole thing but it is what it is. Thanks for the input
