Latest FSD really hesitant at yellow lights, drives me crazy

Lazythoughtarchitect | 2026-02-13 14:09 | 19 views

Is anyone else experiencing FSD being extremely hesitant at yellow lights and slamming on the brakes? it has been anticipating the red light timing fine so far, until recently, now its slamming the breaks when it still has time to cross yellows just fine. I'm on V14.2.2.4, HW4.

Yes but it's inconsistent. I think it must have something to do with the state of the cars around you at the yellow light but I haven't figured out the pattern yet. It also won't do this with someone behind you which is the only real *"threat"* of this behavior besides jostling everyone in your car

This seems to be across the board. Not just with 14. My HW3 vehicle on 12 has been doing the same thing lately. Seems like it’s some new logic on the backend.

This has always been a problem; not just with 14. To be fair to Tesla; behavior on unprotected left turns is difficult to get right for some humans too…

Yes im glad it doesnt seem to do it with traffic close behind, but I've just encountered this happening recently, im about 95% FSD daily.

Yea i understand the car stand on the conservative side when driving, lots of observation and leaving space, and very hesitant on those unprotected turns.

I'm probably about the same, maybe even closing in on 99%. You're right and it definitely gets spooked by yellow lights. I've gotten into the habit of, at a yellow light, if I sense that it's making a judgement call, I'll very lightly tap the accelerator which makes it realize it's okay to go. This works 100% of the time, but obviously is not a problem that can be ignored as they approach unsupervised.

That's why the accelerator doesn't terminate FSD. Just press it if you want go through the yellow. And yes, my 2020 MYLR is doing it too, even at intersections with really long yellows.
