Moo Moo Express, lol
to be honest, i think they are doing it to nudge people, because of poor car design, i know from the model 3, they have a "flap" that closes when in carwash mode, that ensure no mold in filters.. That is not really an issue in other cars, but in tesla´s .. so they are just trying to ensure, that they do not get claims or issues there. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQxP6PaSmLc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQxP6PaSmLc) I think it is solved in the Model Y not sure.. but many people complained about bad smells.. and yes there is a solution, but wild to have a "overengineered" flap solution.. for this.
I might be wrong, but I think the flap is the same part that is used for the recirculation mode in the HVAC system. So car wash mode is simply putting the vehicle in recirculation mode automatically.
Do you have an AMD? For some reason mine doesnt do it and I have an Intel.
Looks like AMD since it has high fidelity park assist
Can confirm- no mold smell at all since 2022. Use car wash mode every single time.
Very nice! Pretty soon our cars will pop up a message that says “Your car is dirty, I’m swinging by the Car Wash quick on our way home”..
Yes, it’s just a checklist of things you could mostly do on your own, but it’s a single thing to do then
lol that’s so Midwest
I use car wash mode too but I get the mold smell in both my 24MY and 19M3 I have to clean AC coils once a year to prevent it. What type of climate do you live in?
lol...this just makes me realize how it opens the door for ad prompts. " Getting Hungry? Try McChicken!"<Navigate button>
I got that on my Cybertruck too as I was pulling into one
Quick lol, try a 20 - 30 minute wait around here to get a wash. Crazy
I love it. I use it and it makes it easier to get the car washed.
I get this when im pulling into the car wash, its dependent on your physical location of course
Yep, AMD.
There's a Goo Goo car wash too lol
Yeah drop me home and go get cleaned up 😁
I have a 2024 MYLR - never had the smell issue. Having driven many cars from many (most) mainstream brands over the years, I think Teslas are well designed vehicles. Even if what you're saying is true, they turned a "bug" into a "feature" - which is a win in my book.
it was a known issue on Moldel 3 not Model Y had both a M3LR 2021 and a MYP 2023 It takes time, but the issue is the design is opened up so water can come down if not closed, into the filters.. a lot of people had the problem after years, it will not be there "1-2 years" after, and i think the issue has been fixed in the model Y It has never been made into a feature, it is a bug, and they have tried to fix it, with an engineered solution, that overcomplicates something, that could have been solved, with a proper design solution. When the early Teslas were designed, it was clear, that they had the advantage of not being an "old car company" with the "burden" of old design, so for instance, the whole 12v battery and main battery design, works way better than many other cars, however they also do miss a lot of the "learnings" from automotive. you could see the GIANT jump from the old Model 3 to the Y where the 3 before highland, is a really badly designed car (as a car) the Y is way better designed both in fitment, but also just "plastic" near roadsurfaces, for less rust and chipping of paint.. way less welding = way less potential adjustment i even had the facelifted 2021, and unfortunatly a US produced car, it was a nightmare, the company exchanged it (not Tesla it was a company lease) with a Model Y Performance from Berlin, this was a better car with a factor of 4.
Help me out, new tesla owner, i thought with the thin paint car washes weren't suggested
Yes, automatic car washes that are not touchless aren't recommended. I needed to clear up the snow and salt so I went anyway.
