I did a full frontal PPF for $200

LemonChiffon831 | 2026-02-12 22:02 | 179 views

\*Deleted and re-posting cuz I realized my whole address was visible on a lot of the photos haha\* I got this full frontal pre-cut ppf kit from Aliexpress for a little over $200, and it turned out perfect after around 10 hours of DIYing it myself over a weekend. I’d say it was a 4 out of 10 on the difficulty scale, especially thanks to the DIY Wrap Club tutorial videos on Youtube. I’m not entirely sure what film it actually is, but it seems like it’s good quality. Probably better than nothing covering the paint. Hopefully it’s not too much of a pain when I remove it in the future for re-application haha Screenshots of the listing on Aliexpress is on the last two photos! They also sell various different pre-cut kits including a full-body.

Sorry for reposting after u commented u/Halollucas ☹️ They mentioned that the ppf didnt go too well for them since they did it at a 100 degree weather. Mine is also not perfect (got some pieces of dog hair wedged underneath 🤒), but I was able to get all of the air bubbles out with a vinyl weeding pen. Just like all the tutorial videos mention, IT’S IMPORTANT THAT UR SLIP SOLUTION DOES NOT DRY OUT. Always spray LOTS of slip, and attempt at a moderate temperature environment :)

Great job. I just spent 1300 on PPF front end. My body hurts too much to do this on my own, but definitely respect the effort.

LemonChiffon831 2026-02-12 22:22

I appreciate it! I couldn’t feel my legs after this too haha An automotive work chair would definitely help :)

FitterOver40 2026-02-12 22:37

Good job. I paid $2300 for full front end and the lower doors with a large dog leg. I’m too picky and wanted it perfect.

Great job! I'm going to DIY a full body ppf on my new model y this weekend. PPF bought from eBay though. Wish me luck 🤞

LemonChiffon831 2026-02-12 22:43

Hahaha Yepp I can definitely say mine isnt too perfect- there definitely was a learning curve, and trying to do it by myself might’ve been a little too brave. I would also definitely recommend having a professional do it if budget allows!

LemonChiffon831 2026-02-12 22:44

Good luck! It’ll feel extremely rewarding once ur done! You should cut the job up into multiple days so you dont feel rushed or fatigued if you can. Feeling rushed / not being patient will be ur biggest enemy!

keypoet 2026-02-12 22:48

I think the front bumper is the most difficult part, but that's the part that needs the PPF most. I'll probably do the front (except the bumper), two sides, and the bumper at least for this weekend. And for the rear, if I can't do it this weekend, then I'll wish my car's butt paint to survive to the next weekend, lol. By the way, your PPF requires you to take off the front wheel trim?

Looks fantastic well done. I might give this kit a try.

bootleg_gucci 2026-02-12 22:53

Nice job 👍 , I also self installed front PPF on my 2022 MYLR when I first bought it. I used [precutppf store](https://precutppf.store/shop/?wpce_search=255718&post_type=product) and special ordered Suntek Reaction (ppf with ceramic coat properties). After 3+ years, it’s held up well (no yellowing), and easy to wash. Some of the hydrophobic water shedding has faded, and a little dirt intrusion on the edges. But overall saved $$$, however it took many hours, maybe the Juniper has more friendly front bumper curves. I also applied 2 coats of CQuartz UK 3.0 ceramic on the rest of the vehicle.

LemonChiffon831 2026-02-12 23:00

The front bumper did require a bit of stretching, but it wasnt so bad more because I got a good practice out of the hood and the fenders first :) I removed the fender garnish to tuck the fender ppf underneath them. Super easy, you just yank the trim off. Gotta be careful when putting it back to not break the clips tho!

Nice job — good for you! I wussed out and had mine done at a shop, but it was about $2,500 for my front end and mirrors. I used to window tint cars when I was much younger and figured I could handle some of it myself, but threw hard-earned money at it instead. Saved my back but paid for it.

laceyboy8054 2026-02-12 23:09

I have done this for my old Mazda CX-9, 2020 Model X. However, after I got my 22' MXP and other Teslas, I just leave them all with bare paint.

Whole_Lengthiness_39 2026-02-12 23:46

In a parking garage no less, great work. It's very satisfying knowing you did it yourself. Probably not perfect, but also not $2k

Intheknow636 2026-02-12 23:57

Great Job! I just pad 1800 +tax for full front ppf for model y performance . I did not find front ppf for MYP 2026 performance on any online store , but I don’t think I would have done it myself anyway. The shop added rear fender (door corner coverage ) for free . You saved a lot of money !

Awesome, I’ve been thinking of getting one of the Kits in eBay, prices of up to $6.000 to get this done are insane. What is the liquid used? Did the kit come with tools?

Zestyclose_Paint3922 2026-02-13 00:33

Let us know how it goes please!

rsg1234 2026-02-13 00:35

I did a full matte PPF wrap bought from aliexpress. The material felt and looked great when I applied it but it started yellowing quickly. The shop that redid it said the material was extremely poor quality and the adhesive was bad.

LemonChiffon831 2026-02-13 01:04

Thank you! The kit even came with an extra roll of non-cut film so you have extra material :)

LemonChiffon831 2026-02-13 01:04

Thank you! You should absolutely give it a shot if you have the time, it was surprisingly fun and satisfying.

LemonChiffon831 2026-02-13 01:06

I’ve definitely looked into their products as well, but I’ve decided to reeeeallly cheap out hahah I’m sure Suntek is a reputable brand, and I trust u for it holding it up when it’s only been 3 years :)

LemonChiffon831 2026-02-13 01:09

They’re tack (mix of 91% isopropyl alcohol and tap water, 1:9 ratio) and slip (dish detergent water) solutions. Putting them in pressurized pump sprayers definitely saved my fingers haha The kit did come with some tools (like a single spray bottle and squeegees), but I bought most of them from Amazon.

LemonChiffon831 2026-02-13 01:10

I could see that happening to mine as well, but hopefully the quicksilver color does a good job on hiding the yellowing haha I just love the fact that I can peel it off guilt free if anything bad happens!

LemonChiffon831 2026-02-13 01:11

This is the first car I’ve owned that I ppf-ed too, I was worried about paint chips being bad on the front bumper especially cuz it has more surface area compared to ICE vehicles.

LemonChiffon831 2026-02-13 01:13

Thank you! Yes I would never have someone pay me to do it, but you’re right- I did it for a fraction of a cost. Super rewarding experience too!

rsg1234 2026-02-13 01:14

The shop told me that they would be careful but crap adhesive sometimes damages paint. Thankfully since it was so recently applied by me it all came off fine. Also your film could have come from a more legit place than mine did. My aliexpress seller closed shop a few weeks after I received my order lol

Zestyclose_Paint3922 2026-02-13 01:21

Thx

supadoggie 2026-02-13 01:50

Nice work! I did the PPF the front of my 2021 Y and 2023 3 myself. The hood on the juniper looks so much easier 😭

supadoggie 2026-02-13 01:51

Who was the seller? I got mine from eBay and the seller I used was excellent. north.tints is his shop name.

keypoet 2026-02-13 01:57

I saw north.tints as well, but it was more expensive at north.tints. My wife actually doesn't approve PPF but she also wants to respect my "new hobby", so I don't want to spend so much that she would get annoyed, lol. I bought from a Chinese seller, the shop name is pre-cut-paint-quard-pros

United-Space6037 2026-02-13 03:25

Perfect? I see so many fingers under the front bumper nose and near the fender/bumper edges. 😆

supadoggie 2026-02-13 03:27

Good luck with it! 🤞

Salty-Hat-3994 2026-02-13 03:54

And air bubbles

LemonChiffon831 2026-02-13 04:17

Haha never said it was perfect :) Also they’re a bunch of progress photos. Those were all sorted out after I waited for the film to dry- super easy to fix!

Leyvaman-MX 2026-02-13 13:42

Looks great, well done 👍 I paid $500 to have someone install it on just my front bumper (‘23 MY)😬

Bob_Lelys 2026-02-13 16:26

Congrats!

hitman0187 2026-02-13 20:43

Update in 1 year on yellowing if applicable?

Icy-Professional8508 2026-02-13 22:12

How long did it take to do each panel?

LemonChiffon831 2026-02-13 23:16

That’s what I’m trying to do! Stay tuned :)

LemonChiffon831 2026-02-13 23:18

I started with the hood cuz it seemed the easiest (flattest surface), but it took me the longest since it was my first time ppf-ing anything. Hood took me about 5 hrs, both fenders around 4, the front bumper around 4, and 2hrs on miscellaneous stuff (lamps, side view mirrors)

LemonChiffon831 2026-02-13 23:18

Thank you!

LemonChiffon831 2026-02-13 23:18

That’s probably a smart move if you love your legs and back, and if you want a more perfect job haha

Icy-Professional8508 2026-02-13 23:42

Thanks! I got the full body kit from what seems like the same seller. Seems like itll be a week long endeavor lol

Upset_Possession_405 2026-02-14 16:13

That came out really clean. Nice work! I’m curious how hard was the install overall with the kit you used? I’m especially wondering about the trimming part. Did your kit come precut, or did you have to trim the edges yourself?

htdwps 2026-02-14 19:44

Did you need to use a heat gun on precut sheets?

GucciTokes 2026-02-17 04:27

you’re brave lol
