Help 😩 Just scuffed my brand new Model Y rear arch — is this fixable?

alphasurgeon | 2026-02-12 21:41 | 16 views

Just had a super low-speed parking touch and now I’ve got this black scuff on the rear wheel arch (looks like the factory PPF area). No dent. Surface feels smooth. Tried wiping with a damp microfiber and it didn’t come off. Is this just paint transfer on the PPF or did I damage the film? What’s the safest thing to try first?

isn't that on the PPF? should just be paint transfer on the PPF, either peel the PPF off, reapply a new one or use a microfiber towel and wipe, with some elbow grease it should come off

It’s just on the PPF

You may be very lucky and only the PPF is damaged. Try warming it up and see if you can clean it off but if not, Tesla can sen. You the same PPF part already cut out. You of they can install it of if you have a local PPF shop, they might know a trick to clean it.

You are freaking lucky. The PPF did it's job here. Try wiping the transfered paint off or replace the PPF.

Yea take off that ppf and it’ll be perfect

EnglishGuyInIlinois 2026-02-12 23:25

Dude. You have a layer of PPF right there! Seriously!? Just buff it off with some rubbing compound or peel off the PPF and replace it

🤦‍♂️

You may need a slightly abrasive cleaner to get that off the PPF. I’d try a magic eraser first.

Justification for a full color change ppf job! It works!

Open up your app, go to the shop and buy a replacement. It looks out of stock for me, but it might be in stock for you: https://shop.tesla.com/product/model-y-paint-protection-film
