Roof Rack Gap question

NidoJack | 2026-02-12 02:05 | 9 views

Installed a roof rack on my 23 model Y and seeing a gap on the rear rack but the front sits pretty flush. Both passenger and driver side look similar. The mounts are centered on the arrows marked on the glass but I haven't fully tightened them to torque as I didn't have a torque wrench handy. Plan on adjusting a bit when I do get a chance to use one but for now they are hand tight and secured with lock. Will not be loading until torqued. Anyone seen similar or know cause?

I would imagine that's just the cover to the part that is bolted to the vehicle. You may be able to adjust it so that it can be flush. Was it like that immediately after the installation?

Yeah it was a bit more difficult to align the bottom mounting piece and the threaded fastener to the rack itself when installing it. The front was easier to align but didnt think much of it until I compared how it was sitting when the nut was hand tight.

It's a Tesla, quality is an afterthought and yes I do own one. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'd be more concerned that your car is standing upright rather than on the tires.
