100 KW is pretty slow for fast charging. You should see much higher speeds if your battery was lower when charging
When I used to supercharge a lot I could feel the hum of dirty emf pulsating thru my body lol. I’m sorta glad I don’t use it often anymore but it is remarkable
In that photo they are at 51% soc 100kw sounds right for that
Yeah, he was amazed by the speed and I was telling him at a lower SOC it will even be much faster
The mi/hr number is really meaningless.
Can you also hear high voltage power lines?
Pretty slow tbh
Wait until it starts at over 1k/hr then drops to 20
When I first got my car it would start out at around 1000 mph.
I don’t think so but I’m also not sitting inside them lol
Thats the standard version. The maxium speed is 175kw/h. Welcome to the family. Great car. I have bought the same 😅👌🏻
Should be getting over 1000 mi/hr
💯 this.
Ironically they used to charge faster... I used to routinely hit 150kw at 50% soc and 80kw at 75% on my 2018 LR 3 when V2 chargers first appeared. My wife's 2023 LR Y never got that and now both cars are nerfed to a slower curve.
That’s pretty slow
It's cool to hear the popping as the bottom plate as the battery heats up.
Drop in at sub 10% and report back 😉
Coming from an Ioniq 5, the charging curve is honestly pretty underwhelming. The efficiency (and literally everything else) however more than makes up for it
I just like how bozos on reddit downvote actual experiences lol . Thats my fav part
At 1-20% SOC it will charge 2.5x faster than you're getting there. More amazement to come.
Wait until you see 1000 mi/hr.
You'll soon learn that the battery stores KW-hrs and not miles. So much so that the old hands here can only think of charging speeds in terms of **kw** 250kw is the holy grail, that you get for a few % when starting at maybe under 10% soc I typically start moving when it falls under 75kw _(unless it's a productive break like eating lunch etc)_
Unless you'd like the car to do the approximation you'd do in your head. #ihatemath
Just 175 kW. Proper units are important.
On our 3000m trip in the summer we'd hit about 1150 miles per hour charging, but it doesn't last. The closer you get to that 80% it slowly drops down to about 250mph.
🥱 yawn
Happy you enjoy the car!
"per hour", there are few scenarios where you would sit at a sc for a whole hour. now get that soc to 10%, with a bit of preconditioning, and you'll see some real speed for a few minutes XD
If I’m not mistaken don’t the standard model ys charge at a slower rate than the “premium”?
Oh Sweet Summer Child
The convenience of Superchargers is undoubtedly great. But when I see other car manufacturers charging their batteries from 10–80% in 18 minutes—or even 12 minutes by now—it really makes me wonder why Tesla isn’t doing more to improve charging speeds. Especially considering that a 2018 Model 3 charged faster than a brand-new 2026 Model Y.
No. My Model 2023 Y LR AWD (LG Battery) when new charged also with 104kW at 51%
Sadly indeed. Really questioning why Tesla doesn’t improve their charging time / curve.
That mi/hr metric is the most useless Tesla can give you.
The warmer the battery the faster it’ll be. Always use satnav to go to fast chargers (supercharger or 3rd party if it’s on the map)
imagine someone posted getting gas for the first time lmao
Not sure it’s ironic. Fairly confident they’ve changed it to improve lifetime of batteries
This! 12500mi/hr easily!
It's ironic when faster charging is what buyers are looking for and is the expected progress of battery technology. But not Tesla - newer cars charge slower. And falling further behind. The only Tesla that charges faster than my 3/Y is the S/X...and...oops.
Gonna be honest. I don't think most people care if the care charges from 10-80 in 30 min instead of 20. Most people are not supercharging all the time and don't particularly care if their car has premium charge speed capabilities
Curious, whats the speed for lower soc?
You can get up to 250 kw at peak. So more than double the picture shown
Probably true for many current EV owners. Not true for ICE owners considering EVs - they want them to work as similarly to gas as possible or they'll just stick with gas. They want them to road trip like their current car, even if 98% is around town driving. If you haven't noticed the transition to EVs isn't complete and might even be going backwards in the US.
i think ive hit 1200 miles per hour once lol. But it was only for a few seconds at around 15% battery
Enjoy that supercharge bill 💀
I’ve traveled 4500 miles in a month on very long drives and I’m coming from a truck to a MY. I don’t mind waiting to charge at all. I take a nap, go shopping, play a game, do some work. It’s actually a quite enjoyable travel stop.
You do you. But you're not the car market.
It’s the number one selling EV in the market. Idk if you know the market.
