Dimension of New 16” Screen

AZFan77 | 2026-02-09 13:28 | 16 views

My Model Y was built at Fremont January 2026. I think it does NOT have the 16” screen. The whole unit’s diagonal dimension is 16”, but the lit part is 15-something inches. Am I right?

I think only the performance has the higher res bigger screen. I could be wrong.

My AWD Premium has the dark headliner and 16 inch screen. The increased pixel density is immediately noticeable. January 2026 Austin build.

How do you think screens are measured? Of any type - television, monitors, phone screens, tablets etc.

How? I just pulled a tape measure and my MacBook Pro 16 viewable area is exactly 16". My OLED Samsung 27 measures 26.5".

Dark headliner models got the 16 inch screen.

So you do or don’t understand what bezels are?

Yah, both have bezels on top of just the visible pixels I measured. Doesn't explain why one matches the spec perfectly and the other is off by a random amount. I thought that mislabeling of screen sizes was gone with the CRT era, but apparently not. EDIT: ok, this got me interested so I did some reading and OLED screens reserve some estate for pixel shift to prevent burn in. So the diagonal of visible pixels at any one time will be smaller than the actual panel size. That explains at least part of that missing half inch on my Samsung screen. And to aid OP I've just gone out to measure my pre-refresh Model Y screen and it 's about 15.4"-15.5" of visible pixels (accounting for curved-off corners).

I saw this on X. The old vs new screen. [https://ibb.co/35PyD3x5](https://ibb.co/35PyD3x5)

I have a Y on order coming from the Fremont factory (ordered on January 18th) I was told it will have the latest configuration so it should be dark head liner and all. My only concern was finding a screen protector that fits the new size displayed.

I have one on order from Fremont too. To be delivered next week. I also was told it would have the refreshed configuration including the larger screen. Mine is a model Y premium not a performance. The easiest way to tell is whether it still has the gray headliner trim, or if it has the black headliner trim. Is yours black or gray?
