Does the Tesla voice assistant actually do anything

Durtyjoey | 2026-02-05 20:00 | 10 views

I’ve yet to find anything useful with the assistant. It constantly tells me Can’t Complete command. Can’t tell me what time it is or how long until my destination is reached. Can’t call or text anybody on my contacts even with my phone being connected and contacts all sync. Am I the only one or is there a fault in the system?

In theory it controls lots of things (Youtube videos on it). In reality it's not something I care to learn. I use siri for my calls, and Grok now doing navigation is occasionally helpful.

It sounds like you are confusing Grok with the voice commands. They do different things. If you want to call or text, use voice commands. If you want to find a nearby restaurant or get a summary of the day's news, use Grok.

How do you trigger Siri from the Tesla?

I was speaking about voice assistant not Grok

CarPlay hasn’t released for Tesla yet. Do you just leave your phone on the charging pad and just say hey siri you mean?

Exactly.

It can make calls. And open the glove box. Not managed to get it to do anything else besides turning my cabin to a sauna once.

Tesla voice commands are not Siri. There’s only a handful of commands that work. https://www.tesla.com/support/voice-commands

Thank you for this. Now I can’t wait for CarPlay next month
