Elon claims there will be unsupervised robotaxis in Austin in 3 weeks.

noobgiraffe | 2025-12-09 22:57 | 263 views

Link to video: https://xcancel.com/herbertong/status/1998518271214236134 There is 0% chance of it happening. He shrunk timelines of his promises so much that it might finally start some backlash. Saying something is 3 weeks of basically means they should already have it working. They don't because FSD discussions are full of complaints. As a bonus lie he says they will have 10 times larger model in January or February. It's not possible to run 10x model on the hardware that was already at capacity.

He didn't say Jan or Feb 2026 🤭

slowpoke2018 2025-12-09 23:04

FSD next year! >10 years ago Mars in '26! Last year A Cave Sub is the best solution! 8 years ago Starship out of LEO next year! 2 years ago Robotaxi's won't need a minder! Today How anyone can listen to this grifter and say, "yah, I want to invest money in his companies!" is beyond me

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-09 23:05

In other words "next year!"

It was Mars in '24 but next year his be able to use the Hyperloop Time Machine X to achieve that goal.

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-09 23:08

They aren't investing money in him or his companies. They are "investing" in other "investors". Would you like to buy some tulips?

slowpoke2018 2025-12-09 23:15

He needs to pitch the loop, maybe make it a Mobius loop to make it seem more legit to his fanbois iT bReaKs TiME! e: love the username! I agree, and why I'm on reddit, closest thing to Usenet in the current world

Scrutinizer 2025-12-09 23:25

He would have said two weeks but that's Trump's thing.

The_300_goats 2025-12-09 23:25

I guess his reputation is bringing prestige to the brand. How the hell that is supposed to work at this stage is anybody's guess The first one to flinch, you know, makes a killing. If you're buying in now, you are not the first one to flinch. You are the greater fool

Good that DOGE shut down the SEC. They did close the SEC, right?

"Elon Claims" has as much validity as me writing a million dollar check based on next week's Powerball win!

In another word, never.

Furion86 2025-12-09 23:46

>Elon: "So there will be Tesla robotaxis operating in Austin with no one in them, not even anyone in the passenger seat, in about three weeks." So you're saying no one's using them? Concerning.

[deleted] 2025-12-09 23:50

Will they be in a tiny area going around in circles as if they are on a track in an amusement park?

RevolutionCrazy7045 2025-12-09 23:57

sidc42 2025-12-10 00:13

I don't know, of all the shit he spouts that one is actually very doable when you think about it. Turn one or two cars loose for an hour in an empty (and privately owned) Austin parking lot for some adoring Tesla bloggers and he officially met that one. Not like he doesn't own a lot of parking lot space next to the Austin factory. For that matter bribe a government official and they'll close off an outer road, or a couple streets in an undeveloped area on the outskirts of town and let it drive around in a circle there.

J_M 2025-12-10 00:17

Mental note to not be on a sidewalk in Austin in 3 weeks - not that this isn't just more fElon BS

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-10 00:17

Oh I see you understand Muskese!

Calm_Historian9729 2025-12-10 00:20

Well just to be safe everyone in Austin have your life insurance up to date just in case of a glitch.

Neceon 2025-12-10 00:29

I guess he must be getting word of a downward pressure on the stock. Needs to pull out some fake hype to protect it.

Whatwhyreally 2025-12-10 00:30

Genuinely seems like he got out of rehab at some point over the past few days and he's back on his drug cocktail. Just non stop stupidity again this week.

HahHahajajajajajajajajajahahhaahahahahhahaa

brintoul 2025-12-10 00:38

How is that whole thing going in Austin? I haven’t heard a peep since the initial stock pump.

EarthConservation 2025-12-10 00:42

Remind me. How many major cities were Tesla robotaxis supposed to be in by the end of the year?

EarthConservation 2025-12-10 00:44

Most of his ideas come from movies. Hell, the naming of his products comes from movies too. I mean... my god... the dude actually claimed they'd have ~~spice~~ lithium harvesters prowling around the Nevada sand sucking the lithium out of it. It really is only a matter of time before he starts claiming Tesla's building a time machine. Remind me 5 years....

drillbit56 2025-12-10 00:46

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-10 00:52

No users, no liability and no witnesses. Great success

North_Ranger6521 2025-12-10 01:30

No way in hell I’m believing this unless I see it happening, and even then I’m going to just expect they’re using remote drivers. Every day when I drive in to Austin from Buda I’ll see anywhere from 1-4 Waymos actually working as driverless robotaxis, with paying customers in the back seats. Not once have I ever seen a driverless Tesla despite Melon Husk’s claims to have Tesla robotaxis driving around Austin.

North_Ranger6521 2025-12-10 01:30

I don’t know… you actually have a chance on winning the Powerball.

callat 2025-12-10 01:38

Folks, stay away from Austin for the next few weeks, if you are able.

Emotional-Heron2643 2025-12-10 01:53

A million robotaxis by the end of 2020 bro.

Flat-Opening-7067 2025-12-10 03:53

The two sketchiest words in the English language: “Elon claims… “

ionizing_chicanery 2025-12-10 04:22

It's obviously not going to happen (or it'll be a smoke and mirrors scam) but it really speaks to Tesla's toxic workplace environment when the CEO demands a huge milestone push right before the winter holidays. Elon is definitely getting more cavaliar pushing this bullshit so increasingly close. The risk/reward calculation should make no sense. The company shouldn't benefit from announcing shit like this early vs just doing it and the company should suffer when it doesn't happen. But we all know Tesla's standing doesn't follow any kind of basic rules of reality.

jawshoeaw 2025-12-10 04:32

Elon has occasionally delivered. Late and less than promised but let’s be honest not 0%. I say let his claims inflate to newer and more specific times and places. If there are unsupervised robo taxis in Austin in three weeks, fine. And when someone gets injured or worse , maybe someone will finally say “wait a second maybe this guy isn’t just a huckster, maybe he’s dangerous “

memoryisntram 2025-12-10 04:37

Funny how I’ve been in Phoenix for over a month, taken probably 30 Waymo rides all over town, navigating tricky neighborhoods and stops, zero incidents or issues. Their sensors, mapping, software all work terrific. But yeah a Model 3 with 2MP webcams and Elon making Indians in Burma steer remotely over 4G with a lag sounds like a winner.

CHRISTEN-METAL 2025-12-10 05:00

3 weeks is the new 2 weeks. AKA never.

Honest_Science 2025-12-10 05:06

Assign one car to be unsupervised and kept parked.

Tballz9 2025-12-10 05:35

100 billion Tesla bots by Christmas!

a_Sable_Genus 2025-12-10 07:51

And like his robots and to be fair many AI outfits it seems, it's just humans running things behind the scenes being the "AI". It's one step above the rolling a Nikola truck down the hill with no motor claiming it's a working model for the demo. Unfortunately Elon with DOGE dismantled the agencies that were to keep people like him in check.

joeythemouse 2025-12-10 08:02

He lies.

ShotBandicoot7 2025-12-10 09:14

On other news, the TSLA CEO farted on twitter. Stock pumps an easy 50-75b$.

[deleted] 2025-12-10 09:28

It's simple; is the loop autonomous? No? System doesn't work. That's how you can proof it in a second.

[deleted] 2025-12-10 09:29

A few minutes ago I read delusional fans claiming German magazine ask for fsd The article doesn't say a word  They just quoted Musk

Ok-Blackberry-3534 2025-12-10 11:59

No Taxi Driver!

BrunusManOWar 2025-12-10 12:25

😂😂😂 Sure Hope the ER and videolink connection to India will be ready for these "unsupervised" taxi rollouts.

junkmeister9 2025-12-10 14:01

I assume they'll be controlled by drone pilots remotely. There was a recent demo of a Tesla robot where it "removed its headset" then fell over, mirroring its operator taking off their headset and disconnecting. It was funny, but was also (another) clear example of how Tesla is not above pulling tricks to appear more advanced than they are.

dtyamada 2025-12-10 14:18

No, this one appears to still be aiming for "before end of year" as he promised previously. Not that I believe it will happen, too much liability even with a remote operator. The real question is who, knowing all the mistakes it's made and the countless we don't know about that safety drivers prevented, who would want to ride in one of those without a safety driver.

FieryAnomaly 2025-12-10 14:18

Thee weeks (and 15 hours) from now is technically "next year". Well, at least Elon's consistent.

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-10 14:23

Probably some nonsense to pump up the last quarter. Nothing is going to happen in 3 weeks or it already would have. I wouldn't ride in one of those firetraps on general principle.

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-10 14:25

I'll run as fast as I would having to listen to Tiny Tim sing that.

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-10 14:26

1880-90s.

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-10 14:28

In 3 weeks nobody will be sleeping in them any more.

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-10 14:30

At least the streets are still relatively safe. It's going to be awful when these things start running amok.

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-10 14:33

Larry Parker got me 2.1 million!

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-10 14:35

Less than promised is essentially a breach of contract so it may as well be 0%. Either you get what you bargained for or you didn't. With Musk, it's always something less.

dtyamada 2025-12-10 14:45

Agree on both parts. He's just gotta keep hyping it knowing most people won't look past the headline.

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-10 14:52

I don't think his hype is even relevant anymore. TSLA is just a bubble. People are just playing out the Greater Fool Theory.

MarchMurky8649 2025-12-10 14:55

>He shrunk timelines of his promises so much that it might finally start some backlash. I was already starting to think this with respect to [his "probably within a month or two" claim from June](https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/wildly-profitable-tesla-robotaxis-elon-musk-hints-we-re-almost-there-as-ai-improves-with-each-mile/ar-AA1HFVXt). He can only get away with so many years talking in terms of years, months talking in terms of months, and weeks talking in terms of weeks. Confidence, surely, must collapse some time next year.

The_JSC 2025-12-10 15:08

Come on now. You know he doesn't read.

mondo_mike 2025-12-10 15:33

Like the orange ass, there doesn’t seem to be any negative ramifications for his lies, so why not keep spewing the bullshit to his sheep!

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-10 15:45

\> Elon claims there will be unsupervised robotaxis in Austin in 3 weeks. Hopefully left in a junkyard where they belong.

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-10 15:48

Nice, but it's still Phoenix. Try those in a place like Minneapolis in the middle of Winter.

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-10 15:51

The company is about the stock which has now taken on a life of its own. Anything Felon says anymore is just going through the motions. I don't even think anyone cares what he says. It's all about keeping the name in front of the public to keep "investors" hemorrhaging money.

Smart-Effective7533 2025-12-10 16:21

Believing Elon is no different than believing trump. If you haven’t figured out they both lie about everything yet, then you probably never will.

dargonmike1 2025-12-10 17:07

Oh my god the Mars hype… looking back it’s honestly INCREDIBLE how believable he was

Icy-person666 2025-12-11 21:39

Surprised there isn't any now, not like he doesn't already do what he wants whenever.

TOPLEFT404 2025-12-12 03:10

Lies!

capital_folly 2025-12-12 04:52

The timelines are the problem. Even if you believe Tesla will eventually get there, compressing expectations like this just erodes trust. Nobody in the AV space thinks regulatory clearance or hardware readiness is anywhere near “weeks.” The tech isn’t the bottleneck anymore; governance is.

gadhalund 2025-12-13 04:07

This may happen, but i guarantee it will be rushed to keep the hype train rolling and people will die as a result. And then tesla will lie about it and musk will shelf a couple mollies and do a podcast about flying robots that will bring omnipotent impedance being released 2026, and the muppets will buy buy buy

Pepparkakan 2025-12-13 10:08

There’s a pretty complete list of these on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_predictions_for_autonomous_Tesla_vehicles_by_Elon_Musk No doubt one of the reasons Grokipedia exists hahaha.

Visual-Advantage-834 2025-12-13 14:33

Remote controlled empty cars on Austins streets. What could possibly go wrong.
