This seems sus. Not a big fan of Tesla to be sure but high heat taking out hearing aids is not happening. Or more so, it would have to be so high that I am sure people would be dying of heat stroke first. But Tesla is a house of cards.

Engunnear 2025-11-13 00:59

The heat might not do it directly, but I bet the sweat wouldn’t be good for it.

They get cold and batteries are horrible. But the human ear will also keep the hearing air no higher than the human body temp. Or not much higher. It will actually keep the temp lower just like in the cold the body will keep the temp higher.

readit145 2025-11-13 01:36

People get heat stroke there lmao. They also make people work in an area that’s 120 degrees or hotter depending where you stand. Speaking from experience when they tired to tell us how tough we were for doing it. 🤦‍♂️. But you also sign up for it so you can’t really do much other than leave.

FlipZip69 2025-11-13 02:03

If your body gets to a temp that takes out a hearing aid, you are dead.

D0UB1EA 2025-11-13 02:08

How about if you're operating near a 1220°F aluminum smelter every day? Like the article says? He didn't die, but the human body is more resilient than a hearing aid. How inconceivable is it that the device failed over time when the guy cooled off?

readit145 2025-11-13 02:09

So you’re telling me when my iPhone over heats I shouldn’t be able to survive the conditions? That doesn’t make sense

FlipZip69 2025-11-13 02:12

If you have your IPhone in your ear and it overheats, you are either dying or your ear is being burnt off. But if it was in your ear, your body would likely keep it cooler then say sitting in the sun.

FlipZip69 2025-11-13 02:16

Because if you are near a 1220 degree smelter, the hearing aid in your ear will be protected from that heat by your body. It it increase in temp it is because your body is increasing in temp. And if you increase by 5 degrees, you are in heat stroke territory. Hearing aids do not die when someone gets a bad fever. Tesla may have factories that are resulting in heat stroke. But that is far lower in temp than what would be needed for a hearing aid to die.

Gosh. So the person claiming this must be a liar, and the person reporting it must be a thousand times dumber than you, a person whose innate gut instinct about electronics, heat capacity, radiative heat, and human body temperature is clearly perfect, even though let's face it you don't have any solid scientific background in any of those things. Because obviously we shouldn't trust a reporter, any of the people the reporter quoted, or the person actually filing the lawsuit, when we could just trust some random redditor whose main area of expertise appears to be 'the evils of wokeitude'.

Youngnathan2011 2025-11-13 02:58

I mean if it’s a warm day, one of the reasons my phone can overheat is cause my body heat is too much for it.

It’s the electronics. They generate extra heat when they operate.

readit145 2025-11-13 03:10

That’s not how it works, either way I don’t know how you can invalidate first hand experience but sure.

Turbulent-Phone-8493 2025-11-13 03:29

\> Human body temperature is higher than the ambient temperature. this isn't true. human body temperature is always \~100F. whether it's cold out or hot out, we stay at 100F.

Noobnoob99 2025-11-13 03:50

If true, ADA laws will handle it

WildFlowLing 2025-11-13 03:56

Do you think Elons gaming office is air conditioned

FlipZip69 2025-11-13 05:17

There is no way a hearing aid is getting so hot for external temperature that it is not killing the person first. Would not be the first person to make something up like that for a lawsuit.

FlipZip69 2025-11-13 05:19

Your phone uses factors more energy than a hearing air. Like a 100 times more. If you stick a phone in your ear, you would end up burning your ear as it is insulating it. But that is from the heat the phone is creating. Not external heat causing the phone to heat up.

FlipZip69 2025-11-13 05:21

Because people lie. More so, does anyone have any common sense? A phone uses about 100 to 1000 times more energy than a hearing aid. Hearing aids do not heat up on their own by any measurable amount. Phones do and they need to radiate heat.

Zeddi2892 2025-11-13 06:36

Thats the trickle-down effect I assume

I-Pacer 2025-11-13 07:35

Has Trump not done away with them yet?

[deleted] 2025-11-13 07:54

But Elon said he doesn't have a PC! In court filings!

SellSideShort 2025-11-13 10:05

Fired after complaints doesn’t mean fired *because* of complaints

SolutionWarm6576 2025-11-13 10:31

Their Gigafactory in Texas, has been accused of having faulty furnace doors and pumping paint and other chemicals, into the local sewer system.

dtyamada 2025-11-13 12:52

Other companies i might give the benefit of the doubt, but there's been too many cases like this reported at Tesla.

dtyamada 2025-11-13 12:56

This is where good occupational health and safety standards are helpful. But I'm sure Texas doesn't believe in those.

RagingDemonsNoDQ 2025-11-13 13:01

So basically, what Boring was just sued for when they were caught dumping chemicals in Nevada during their construction. Keep being that secret polluter, Elon!

LancelLannister_AMA 2025-11-13 14:17

Kind of sounds like you work for musk

ridukosennin 2025-11-13 14:57

Firing because of health complaints would be illegal so they can’t say that. Tesla says he was medically separated which is vague enough to provide legal cover to terminate

Lacrewpandora 2025-11-13 15:32

>Deaf Tesla employee Did they work in the NVH quality control department?

Noobnoob99 2025-11-13 21:29

You’d know the answer if you were educated on the subject or how laws were in general

ionizing_chicanery 2025-11-13 21:40

A quick google search [says otherwise](https://verobeachent.com/protect-your-hearing-aids-from-heat-and-humidity/)

ionizing_chicanery 2025-11-13 21:45

Temperature is not just a factor of power consumption but is heavily dependent on power density, thermal conductivity, air flow, ventilation and so on. Hearing aids can plausibly fail to operate at rated or sufficient performance levels without necessarily suffering from damaged electrical components. Their acoustic properties are dependent on various mechanical and electrical factors that can be temperature dependent.

FlipZip69 2025-11-14 00:54

No. He is a dick. There is no way you are in a environment so hot that your hearing aid fails. That is without dying yourself.

FlipZip69 2025-11-14 01:21

You can find just about anything if you look hard enough on the internet. Not all is realistic or true. But to add to your source, their idea of hear and humidity is: "Avoid using your hearing aids in areas where they are at risk of overheating or becoming too humid. This includes areas such as saunas or tanning beds" Do you think they are working under tanning lights or in saunas?

RollinThundaga 2025-11-15 01:14

Of course he doesnt. The people he pays to grind Diablo for him have PCs.

BringBackUsenet 2025-11-15 17:23

Maybe \*he\* technically doesn't but he has plenty of company owned PCs.

[deleted] 2025-11-17 17:59

Of course, the leader of a tech company who plays on the plane wouldn't have a computer! He doesn't even know what that is! (he 100% has a personal and corporate PC but hey, a fk liar is a fk liar, what can you do?)
