Incoming train is a corner case, one that no one could see coming.
>Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The company says in its manual that FSD requires active human supervision at all times. Then it's false advertizing for calling the feature Full Self Driving. It's not Self Driving, much less fully doing so.
Can you read? "In one example cited by the senators, video from 2024 showed a Tesla in Full Self-Driving mode failing to detect a moving train or stop on its own, slamming into a crossing arm and skidding off the road in Ohio."
Working as intended. FSD users are supposed to be paying attention and ready to take over the wheel at all times.
It's gonna be a coroner case for Tesla owners
Stock up 10% for this
They really need to geofence these trains until their guidance software can be upgraded to HW4.
Only because there wasn't injury or worse. +22% in those cases
It's Full Self Driving (Supervised) Just like I sell a total 100% real cancer cure (not FDA approved, in stock or even real)
“Coming to rest on active railroad tracks” is not a corner case, it is unsafe driving behavior plain and simple. Both the GPS and cameras should be able to recognize train tracks and not TURN ONTO THEM. Yes, corner cases exist and that is obviously what caused this specific scenario to happen, but this is deadly behavior that can’t be hand waved away as “the driver should have paid attention”, it is software gambling peoples lives
I hope that’s sarcasm. If driving into the side of a train is “working as intended,” that’s psychopathic.
The joke is that everything is a corner case.
No need to worry, new FSD software update will automatically purchase TSLA while you wait for train to hit your Model Y, more money to pay for medical or funeral services
Ah, sarcasm not detected. My bad
We need standards that apply to all manufacturers and service providers. The day before yesterday I personally saw a Waymo which was stranded in Scottsdale’s flooded Indian Bend Wash after Friday’s torrential rains; presumably the vehicle failed to recognize the flooded roadway and drove right in. Just a few miles downstream a few human drivers made the same mistake and one person lost his life but we have been led expect that machines are better drivers than humans.
Change the name to ASD for assisted self driving. FSD is a lie.
Probably should do something about the visibility of those crossing arms, too. Paint them in red & white stripes, maybe?
So, the stock price will go up today?
>We need standards that apply to all manufacturers and service providers. Not happening any time soon. fElon Musk [slashed the NHTSA](https://www.newsweek.com/doge-cuts-watchdogs-investigating-self-driving-teslas-2058241) workforce, including the team regulating autonomous vehicles and investigating Tesla's "Full Self Driving."
You beat me
It's little more than lane assist with some potential to sometimes do some more advanced manoeuvres, but not something that is guaranteed. Smart summon sometimes works, sometimes will hit a curb or parked car. FSD sometimes works, sometimes will drive straight past a stopped school bus, over a curb, into an oncoming train, into the central barrier of a highway or into pedestrians. It is basically a gamble that the machine will not do something dangerous with I believe is arguably worse than having a driver driving 100% of the time. We know Tesla fudge their reporting, court cases have showed that. My car will do pedestrian avoidance up to 20mph, as a safety feature, Tesla could implement that if they want to be safer than just a driver.
More like Assisted Suicidal Driving
Yeah I love how Tesla says "Oh it's just a marketing term." Hm. If McDonald's starts calling the Big Mac "The Exclusive Zero Calories and No Fat Burger," they can't really say "Oh it's just a marketing term, we didn't mean it doesn't have fat in it. Relax!"
Great idea! Big Train doesn't like to hear criticism, but this could have been prevented with better signaling and stopping to let the car pass.
I don’t like it but technically it does fully drive itself it’s just not always safe and requires intervention upon a mistake. But it still fully drives itself. Now if they called it fully autonomous then they’d be in trouble. I’m guessing that’s why they get away with it.
Full (except when something bad happens) Self Driving
Calculator (double check its output all the time)
*calculator works*: wow this is the most advanced calculator of all time, maybe ever. *Calculator doesn't work*: did you download the update? You did? I don't believe you actually used the calculator. Did you record proof you used it?! Tweet to Elon so he can fix it!
Full Self Driving (Partial)
“Wrong answer? Should’ve intervened.” “Wait you intervened? Shouldn’t have intervened.”
That's like saying I have a self-driving car because I can turn on cruise control and lean into the guard rail.
It does drive itself just not well sometimes lol
> It's little more than lane assist with some potential to sometimes do some more advanced manoeuvres I mean that couldn’t be any further from the truth.
Full self driving isn’t the same as autonomous driving.
Reminder: the Vegas loop, which is just Tesla drivers in a tunnel driving passengers from station to station still doesn't have self driving cars and that's about a sterile of an environment that you can get for self driving. If they can't do that, they can't do anything.
Up 0.64% You know, I think there might be a pattern here.
There have been zero accidents where FSD was engaged at the moment of impact. Checkmate antifa!
Waymo is a 4. 5 is perfect. Tesla is a 2.
HW4 is still rated a 2.
Making the car move around is only one aspect of driving. An eight year old could make a car move - you’d never trust them to actually drive it.
old men ask liar why he keeps lying
Don't worry nothing will come of this. The senators have no power to make anything happen. No republican is brave enough to stand up on this issue and Trump is already bought and paid for by Leon.
Yea, because it disables itself when it realizes it can't handle the situation, then it's the driver's fault that FSD did something idiotic. Like drive on to railroad tracks, strand its passengers, and wait for a train to come along
In defense (???) of Musk's Tesla, Musk's Boring Company drilled the most crooked and bumpy tunnel you can imagine. It what you expect if you give a bunch of kids drilling equipment and let them loose.
Elon "We gather SO MUCH DATA! Fanboys "Daddy Elon said version X will be it! Reality: IncidentS... Remember when they frequently ran into emergency vehicles? Or the school bus fiasco? Red lights fail them too (go, read Tesla forums! It's full of it!) But version XY will TOTALLY be it!! That's pure insanity and a lack of understanding what technology is used and how Ai learns and determines situations. Oh well.. At least no one smart was hurt. Ps. I just remembered this isn't news at all! There was an infamous video where a guy nearly got flattened by train. Last second he pulled to the right... https://youtube.com/shorts/qoHnrJdaHU8?si=Ymvphw53h8S_Amzp ...a year ago...
Up 10%? Why it should be up 20! More upbeat for Optimus can be mass employed as chauffeurs and worth at least 10 trillion
So the truth is that FSD is entirely less than lane assist?
I think you mean autopilot isn't autonomous. It's just like an airplane, but the pilots still have to be in control, duh!! But now that they offer Full Self Driving, that means that they are definitely going to make it 100% driving by itself fully.
Just an aside, those containers on that train are hauling New Jersey garbage headed to a landfill in Ohio. And yes, it smells as bad as it sounds.
It's full self driving because 20% of the time it can full self drive
They should just call it Driving..
Thankfully there are no crooked or bumpy roads outside of that tunnel.
Bullish !
Just gonna leave this here: [Tesla thinks train is a bunch of slow trucks](https://youtu.be/uts4_aeUi4M?si=in2M-Spa8zEYz5wz)
