Sorry for another robotaxi post, but this provides some important context on what they are actually launching. Taxis, with drivers, for their friends. Trevor Milton just wishes.

Every little bit of meme stock bump is needed.

What a scam. This is market manipulation.

TheRealCabbageJack 2025-07-26 01:43

So "Mr. Disrupter" has invented the Yellow Cab Company. Hahahaha!

mishap1 2025-07-26 01:50

They can't charge for it. This just loses money as they go. They're just getting to where Waymo was in 2017.

ComicsEtAl 2025-07-26 01:51

Plan whatever you want, Tesla, just do it without me.

ComicsEtAl 2025-07-26 01:51

Nah, the market has to take some responsibility here.

The guy thinks he rules everything you know he’s doing something bad. Just a matter of time.

The Tesla fanboys are blaming California regulations of course. They fail to understand that it’s Tesla that is not currently capable of getting permits from California since their technology is not there yet. Waymo has permits to do paid rides with Robotaxis in California because their technology, after years of testing, is capable of getting these permits. Tesla is years behind Waymo. Tesla is still in the testing phase and they try to spin it as a “robotaxi rollout.” But of course clown fanboys say this is because of politics. It’s not. If Tesla autonomy was where Waymo autonomy is today, Tesla would have the same persists as Waymo does in California.

>“Tesla is not allowed to test or transport the public (paid or unpaid) in an AV with or without a driver,” the California Public Utilities Commission told CNBC in an email on Friday. “Tesla is allowed to transport the public (paid or unpaid) in a non-AV, which, of course, would have a driver.” So the California Public Utilities Commission is flat out saying these are not robotaxis, just cars with a driver. This “robotaxi rollout in SF” is just a stock pump.

Don't give him ideas

[deleted] 2025-07-26 04:37

Not even a cab, it’s a private driver. Like the lincoln towncars of the 90s but cramped and uncomfortable

GrapeFew1860 2025-07-26 13:05

Yeah you hop in and it takes your kids to a house and they get diddled by a guy in a maga hat then takes u back home while the Ai tells you it's your fault u got diddled

Mr_Kitty_Cat 2025-07-26 14:25

They don’t even have lidar!

sanjosanjo 2025-07-26 14:27

I like this part. I wish I knew how to bold the last few words to highlight the incredible business opportunity here. "The California Department of Motor Vehicles told CNBC that Tesla has had a “drivered testing permit” since 2014, allowing the company to operate AVs with a safety driver present, **but not to collect fees.**"

AV_Dude_Safety1St 2025-07-26 14:29

Which means Tesla has to say this isn’t even an AV rollout. Maybe they will still call it robotaxi, and thus admit robotaxi is not an AV.

"Disrupt or die"

CRXCRZ 2025-07-26 17:45

Don't people living in the population centers of California avoid Tesla these days? I would image that you'd look like an asshole getting chauffeured around in a tesla.

Stellardong 2025-07-26 19:11

What. The. Fuck. Lol.

DescendedTestes 2025-07-26 21:39

Friends and Family - he has no friends, although he does have enough bastard children to keep the company afloat for another couple months.
