California made Tesla and Musk what he is today, yet Musk gave California the finger in so many ways. Now, he wants to build a giant toilet as a monument to his middle finger to California? He should just build it in Texas where he now resides. FM and FT.

There was a time in the not too distant past, where I might have made this a destination stop.
Now I could not imagine going there.
What a legendary downfall for a brand. Definitely will go down in the record books.

Who is the target demographic? From the menu it seems “woke right wing hipsters”. Or who else orders heritage pork with sustainably harvested artisanal fries?

I walked by it just before the construction fence came down. I was amazed at how SLOPPY the constuction is: missmatched panels off by as much as an inch, door frames look off, and it’s now a parking lot for CyberDumps and Model Ys they can’t sell.

I still love my car, but I would never buy another one. I was a pretty big fan of the brand before.
I feel bad for the people that work there and invested more into the brand than I did. They deserve better. Hopefully they can jump ship and go work at another brand.

Yeah same here. A lot of people have worked there a long time that don’t deserve to be Elons collateral damage

Musk on the earnings call today sounded like a defeated man. Low energy, backed off his usual bombastic predictions, only talked for 8 minutes. I think the diner is just a one-off distraction that will lose money.

We are all aligned here...
I bought a Tesla in 2021 because it was good for the environment and I wanted to save money on gas. Elon was a little...unstable, but I chalked that up to eccentricity versus being a full on nazi-saluting fascist. Back in 2021 I absolutely would have lined up and tried this place out.
Now the value is underwater, the brand is trash, and the used car market is flooded so I'm stuck with it for the duration.
Most disconcertingly about this diner is how people seem to forget that spending money with it only help support the garbage that he financially invests in, like Trump and Trump related causes (no matter what their temporary falling out is).
Our societal memory is incredibly short and we need a reminder that this guy is walking garbage.

As scary as it sounds, and this is why I think protest is needed, people just aren't connecting the dots.
And I know that sounds crazy on this sub, the one I told a random girl at a bar last night that I'm planning on attending this protest, she was like "why?"
Me: "Because he's a fascist and helped elect Donald Trump and subsequently got thousands or tens of thousands of government employees fired from their jobs, saving virtually nothing in the process. And Tesla is his primary vehicle of wealth."
Her (confused): "Oh."
People need a reminder, apparently.

Exactly. ☝🏿
Move this thing to Dallas. Definitely don't want it here.
The sooner it fails so that someone can use all of the infrastructure that's been put into it to open a charging station / restaurant that isnt owned by the Tesla brand where Elon doesn't make a dime off of it, the better.
And if it turns out to not work at all and it's a huge bust that they just have to write off, I'm not mad at that either. Convert it into affordable housing. 🤷🏿♂️

I don't get the point of the diner, I really don't.
Is it to sell old and abandonded tech, like Optimus which has been put on hold for a redesign?
I dunno. I just don't get it

I think y'all attacking him for disagreeing with you politically are being partisan crybabies. That being said, it was definitely not the brightest choice to support the republican candidate and then build a branded diner in the heart of democrat land.

It’s a little more than political “disagreement” when one person is illegally dismantling government watchdog agencies and endangering the public with robotaxi rollouts (often w/o public input), as well as stiffing suppliers and other businesses by not paying his bills.
Like, I disagree with ChickFilA’s ownership’s politics. That’s a political disagreement. Tesla/Musk is actively fucking up America in ways that ghouls like the Koch Bros could only dream of. So maybe “partisan disagreement” is downplaying it a bit.
And yeah, when it comes to brand messaging he’s an idiot, you’re right. Maybe Joe Rogaine can convince all the insecure dudes who listen to his podcast that real men drive shoddy overpriced EVs and Tesla can pick up some right wing customers … he would probably be pretty good at marketing to people who are motivated by the need to overcompensate.
