Hell yeah!

stillavoidingthejvm 2025-06-28 03:55

They're great vehicles. I am not surprised.

Suitable-Activity-27 2025-06-28 03:56

Good. I can’t stand the Y. It’s such a fugly car.

scotchegg72 2025-06-28 04:02

Since when has the model Y been the world’s best seller?!

Festering-Fecal 2025-06-28 04:24

Is the interior the same cheap crap regular models have because Elon aside those cars are ugly and feel shoddy inside. About the coolest thing is the giant tablet but that's not unique to them anymore.

Suitable-Activity-27 2025-06-28 04:29

No clue. I’ve only ever been in a model 3. I hated the interior. But the Y is just such a visually unappealing car to me. It looks like just the most bare minimum effort designed car. It’s like as if some drugged up asshole took a model 3 photo and stretched out the passenger compartment is photoshop.

rbetterkids 2025-06-28 04:34

I think it has to do with the ad. The ad says this SUV gets 600mi in range.

Catdaddy84 2025-06-28 04:38

That's what I want to know?

snapshot021 2025-06-28 04:42

In 2023 and 2024 it was the Model Y

seriousbangs 2025-06-28 04:46

Youch. Remember that The Tesla was the best selling car only because they had so few models, similar to how the C64 is still the best selling computer of all time.

richardbaxter 2025-06-28 04:50

I don't know, kind of looks like it'd make a rad desert skirmish machine

themindisaweapon 2025-06-28 04:51

My 2020 Hybrid is easily the best car I've ever owned. Love it and it uses hardly any fuel.

mustangfan12 2025-06-28 04:51

It was last year, it was the worlds first long range affordable EV.

RocketLabBeatsSpaceX 2025-06-28 05:19

Ugly and cheap. It’s weird, I think people rushed to get a Tesla in the early days because it was the “New” thing. Because they seemed exclusive at first people tried to attribute rarity to value and for some reason people started treating it like a luxury car. To me it’s one of the cheapest piles of garbage on the road if you look at build quality.

CldStoneStveIcecream 2025-06-28 05:41

The 3 was too small so they inflated it a little bit.

snackerooryan 2025-06-28 05:47

2024 was RAV4

breddittory 2025-06-28 05:47

Shocking until you consider that it’s just far superior to the Y Fugly POS.

Puzzleheaded-Sea8340 2025-06-28 06:14

Especially that new one Jesus H Christ it is ugly

Puzzleheaded-Sea8340 2025-06-28 06:15

A simple Google search will tell you that you’re wrong. I’m happy to see the Tesla model Y not be the Number One car anymore because I think it’s an ugly piece of shit Congratulations Toyota

No-Budget-9765 2025-06-28 06:33

2023 was the last year for the Model Y as best seller. RAV4 was best seller in 2024 and is leading in 2025.

East_Talk_2541 2025-06-28 06:34

But Tesla can drive kind of autonomously in parts of one city.. so I guess Tesla wins anyways

Dstrongest 2025-06-28 07:00

The 3 is a lot bigger inside than it looks from the outside .

Dstrongest 2025-06-28 07:04

Toyota makes a great car. However the new less powerful engines won’t be impressing too many people.

MJFields 2025-06-28 07:05

Every successive Tesla model has dropped in quality. Model S to Cybertruck is a long, steep drop.

Opcn 2025-06-28 07:44

For the first roadster nearly every component you interacted with as the cars occupant was made by lotus. The seats, the pedals, the switching gear, the steering wheel, all of it. Only the LED instrument panel and the badges were Tesla. This was a decision they made and started negotiations in earnest for before Elon joined the company.

TheBlackUnicorn 2025-06-28 08:11

What happened to the Model 3?

CouncilmanRickPrime 2025-06-28 08:15

Toyota customers won't care at all

FunnyProcedure8522 2025-06-28 09:25

EDS is a real mental disease

eljop 2025-06-28 09:32

The facelifts are actually very improved in quality. No plastic at all and good ride quality. The first ones are ugly and cheap though. I personally love the new model y juniper design.

Schmich 2025-06-28 10:39

Calling it fucking ugly as if it's a fact, instead of just a personal opinion, is just the hate talking. The original Multipla is fugly. The Aztec is fugly. The Y (exterior) is fine. The interior (or lack of interior) sucks though, I hate it. Just like RAV4 isn't fugly but it's not my cup of tea. For me, it's just too "busy" of a design without looking tough.

Schmich 2025-06-28 10:40

I think the Model Y got bigger discounts proportionally. And maybe those who wanted a 3 already got one.

CetisLupedis 2025-06-28 10:41

Toyota has been severely supply constrained since the pandemic. Tesla barely was. It was only a matter of time before supply (started to) catch up with demand.

ObviouslyJoking 2025-06-28 10:42

> Tesla did point to a pause in production between old and new Model Ys as impacting sales in both 2024 and early 2025. More like they paused production due to lack of sales. Liars just can’t stop lying.

daveo18 2025-06-28 11:05

Wait, the latest refresh didn’t boost sales back to the moon?

AutismFlavored 2025-06-28 11:32

The Y looks like a 3 that got stung by a hive of bees

stillavoidingthejvm 2025-06-28 11:33

I believe it. I have a 2022 hybrid that gets around 450-500 mi to the tank. I would not be surprised if the PHEV version got that much now.

Wolf_Cola_91 2025-06-28 12:27

I got in a model y taxi and was surprised to find my head was bumping against the roof.  I'm 5'10, hardly tall.  It's surprising I didn't have enough headroom in a relatively large car.

nlaak 2025-06-28 12:44

> Calling it fucking ugly as if it's a fact, instead of just a personal opinion Anyone with half a brain knows when someone says something is fugly, it's an opinion. > is just the hate talking. Leave off with the white knighting, he doesn't know or care you're doing it.

Ill_Somewhere_3693 2025-06-28 13:12

Had a RAV4 Hybrid (HEV) last weekend and couldn’t believe how smooth & sharp the handling & ride were, plus gobbles of EV like torque. And after driving almost 100 miles, only had to fill up just over 2 gallons to bring back to full at turn in!

Suitable-Activity-27 2025-06-28 14:04

There’s a hidden context clue in my statement that might indicate that “I” am speaking from my perspective.

gwenver 2025-06-28 14:48

Yeh, weird because I only see a few Teslas where I am in the UK.

mustangfan12 2025-06-28 15:48

The Model 3 was also a huge sales success too, it just never achieved the best selling car award because it was a sedan. The Model Y was a crossover that was spacious, so it was the perfect fit for most new car buyers (before Elon destroyed the brand)

Dmoan 2025-06-28 16:00

The new one looks horrible, because Tesla basically sourced an existing BYD light bar its suppliers have to cut costs.

Puzzleheaded-Sea8340 2025-06-28 17:24

Asshole is a real word that describes you. Also “idiot fanboy that ignores objective reality” I have a whole list of these. No ai assistance needed to generate that!

TheBlackUnicorn 2025-06-28 19:51

Sure, but it was cheaper than the Y and had more range, so how can the Y be the first long range affordable EV if the 3 came out first?

mustangfan12 2025-06-28 20:34

Your right, the Model 3 was the first successful long range EV for mass market. But the Model Y definitely sold better since it was a crossover instead of sedan

No-Share1561 2025-06-28 20:50

I read topless.

Exciting_Turn_9559 2025-06-28 22:26

We have a RAV4 but Toyota's brand is almost as dead as Tesla's for us now because of Toyota's foot dragging and outright lying about EV's. We were a Toyota family for 2 generations. We won't buy them anymore.

Tezlaract 2025-06-28 22:50

Pre facelift was kinda whatever in my book, the facelift looks full on MaraLagoo face to me.

Intelligent-Rest-231 2025-06-29 00:30

So now I’m sure Toyota will leapfrog Tesla to become the most valuable car company in the world. Right? Right! I mean 11 million to 1.7 million cars sold should mean something. Right? Right! Edit: oh snap! I forgot about the imaginary fuck dolls.

onwatershipdown 2025-06-29 02:27

My beef with the Y is they’ve got a 700kg battery below the floor (two of my cars for reference are a 1000kg Miata NB and 1200kg Fiesta ST). For all that model Y mass below the driver, it has a lot of roll. I borrowed one from a family member for a couple road trips and the experience was over all frustrating.

rbetterkids 2025-06-29 03:07

I saw the ads on the freeways and "600 miles range" was what caught my attention. I mean, in my previous Prius plugin, if I kept charging and driving on EV mode, I'd pump gas once every 3-5 months, so can't imagine this one.

Suitable-Activity-27 2025-06-29 04:48

At least Nissan had a sense of humor with the Juke and made the Juke GTR.

mudbot 2025-06-29 10:08

Jeez an actually good car beats sales of a broken tablet on wheels?

JonnyBravoII 2025-06-29 10:11

Toyota’s market cap is about $275 billion. Tesla is worth $1 trillion. Tesla is worth much more than the other largest (9) car makers combined. Tesla stock is up about 60% year-over- year.

Ok-Warthog2065 2025-06-29 11:18

based on "feels". Toyota sells 10 times the number of vehicles that tesla does every year.

Red-FFFFFF-Blue 2025-06-29 13:06

Saw the new one on the road the other day. The front end is hideous. The straight line of LEDs kills the look.

Aggravating-Gate-560 2025-06-29 13:19

Model Y is just so much better in basically every aspect, such a shame that people are missing out on a better car because of Teslas utter idiot CEO!

Aggravating-Gate-560 2025-06-29 13:22

Yeah and get this, Rav4 has even less space...

Aggravating-Gate-560 2025-06-29 13:23

No, CEO took care of the probable boost in sales and made sure that it won't happen

Aggravating-Gate-560 2025-06-29 13:24

I'd suggest you to watch a moose test for both Model Y and Rav4

Suitable-Activity-27 2025-06-29 13:48

Honesty the new front end looks better to me, but the issue for me is the shape of the car and the laziness of the design. Like different Toyota models are distinctly different looking cars. Whereas teslas are like different versions of an iPhone.

Big-Cryptographer154 2025-06-29 14:47

I bought RAV4, Mercedes GL350, Prius, Model S, model 3, and now Juniper Y. I see some F words filled emotional or maybe a political ideology driven comments that I don’t like. Please don’t wake up in the morning and just complain .If you own any of these, you should be happy. I don’t quite like new Y shape either but it’s good stuff and pricing convinced me. I don’t need TV, sofa, refrigerator in a car. I like Tesla because its tech is still better to my taste.

Wolf_Cola_91 2025-06-29 15:47

I dont think a Rav 4 has less rear headroom does it?  Because of the model y having a sloping roofline.

stillavoidingthejvm 2025-06-29 18:10

You'll never go back to ICE after this. I've rented ICE Ravs before; they feel so cheap compared to HEV or PHEV.

Aggravating-Gate-560 2025-06-29 22:20

According to measurements, they're basically identical or Model Y has a tiny bit more room

MountainManGuy 2025-06-29 23:58

Meh, I've driven multiple rav 4s and they have to be the worst vehicles I've ever driven. Completely boring, uninspiring vehicles. I tried camping in the back of one and it had less space than my Y does. I've literally driven mini vans that we're more fun to drive than the rav 4. You can hate the Y all you want, but the rav 4 is not a better vehicle. I've done a multi thousand mile road trip in one and couldn't wait to give it back. The only thing it had going for it was it's fuel economy. That thing was crazy efficient, but I sure would hope so given how gutless the engine felt.

Practical-Cow-861 2025-06-30 00:55

Due to a gaming of the system by storing up preorders of the face lifted Model Y, they managed to eek out a one time win.

Enough-Meaning1514 2025-06-30 07:09

What the fcuk is EDS? What are you on about?

cica_trix 2025-09-01 17:05

I test drove first time model 3 and Y first (the refresh models)time past weekend. Which led me to question why even more people don't own one bc I was quite mind blown. I get it now, the Tesla experience it something different. Personally the new Y look great. Both car drive experiences surprised me I had a great time and it was fun driving it. I am currently driving/own an Infiniti G37x. Anyway highly recommend (putting aside any biases), ppl go for a demo drive near by at least an hr, I am still aww, and kinda of annoyed I want one right now. Definitely looking to eventually get one as my next vehicle. Just not looking for a new car payment atm as my Infiniti is paid off, main reason for hesitation.
