MKBHD will shave his head on camera.

trxeatsraptor 2026-02-12 21:44

Why do you want to look at him shave?

BlueManifest 2026-02-12 21:44

When is this update releasing or when did it release

dynamite647 2026-02-12 21:49

Already kinda shaved…

Matt_NZ 2026-02-12 21:49

I hope they bring the better recognition of sign reflections to the non-matrix cars too. Mine gets into a dip loop when approaching most road signs

gambuzino88 2026-02-12 21:57

It already released. I have it installed since a couple of days.

CarCooler 2026-02-12 21:57

It's already wide release.

CarCooler 2026-02-12 21:58

Cause he said so, for Robotaxi launch before 2027.

Snakend 2026-02-12 22:23

They already admitted they can't do it. And are walking back HW4 as being able to do it as well. HW5 is where it's at now baby!

unuomosolo 2026-02-12 22:23

it's a 10GB release, double than usual... I was somewhat disappointed by reading "minor improvements" in the update notes, but now I feel the urge to test those headlights!

technerdx6000 2026-02-12 22:34

Same. My auto high beam is basically useless due to constantly dipping

iJeff 2026-02-12 22:36

The sample size of these reports seem extremely small. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these are within the usual range of variance and things like Autopark did not actually change.

iGoalie 2026-02-12 22:48

I can’t say for sure because my TeslaMate dashboard crashed a few months ago but my 2019 M3 LR is showing a capacity of 299 miles, I am pretty sure last time I checked it showed 289

pjax_ 2026-02-12 22:59

Source? I don't remember them saying this.

pjax_ 2026-02-12 23:01

What does that have to do with HW3 and HW4?

dbv2 2026-02-12 23:04

Have not seen any of these improvements on my Model S refresh on HW3. No battery increased range, don’t notice matrix improvements, etc.

Freewheeler631 2026-02-12 23:12

I need the matrix headlights to perform better. There are constantly flicking on and off for every parked vehicle, trailer, anything that looks like it might be a vehicle. They turn off when they see a parked vehicle, turn on because they don’t see it, but then see it again and turn off. This is for cars parked in driveways, no less.

Skilhgt 2026-02-12 23:45

Globally?

imacleopard 2026-02-12 23:49

This is a really weird thing to be excited for

Organic_Car6374 2026-02-12 23:53

My matrix lights have stopped engaging as often as they used to. Didn’t realize how much I had grown accustomed to them. 21MYP

reekHavok 2026-02-13 00:04

Programmed by the auto wipers intern probably.

RAFellows2 2026-02-13 00:32

This version causes the auto park (backing in) to fail about 70% of the time on my 2018 M3 with HW3. It was perfect on previous versions.

AmbitionHonest7734 2026-02-13 00:39

Wait til they say it needs HW6.

tanbyte 2026-02-13 00:49

Same, may be really ‘minor’ after all

lasquiggle 2026-02-13 01:14

And not long after. HW7!

AmbitionHonest7734 2026-02-13 01:16

I'll wait for HWX.

IncreaseEfficient332 2026-02-13 01:34

Totally agree. 2023 MX

TooMuchTaurine 2026-02-13 01:49

It didn't look like AP changed much. There was a big difference between the two tests with no car in the next park on the second test..this would for sure impact how AP performs

iJeff 2026-02-13 01:53

Mine also turn off when the headlights shine off reflectors on the side of the highway. My adaptive headlights don't turn on while on residential roads though.

icy1007 2026-02-13 02:02

Every update is around 10GB.

icy1007 2026-02-13 02:02

They won’t get HW3 up to HW4.

icy1007 2026-02-13 02:03

If you have HW4 FSD you won’t get it.

icy1007 2026-02-13 02:04

Do you have this update?

BlueManifest 2026-02-13 02:04

I got it awhile ago checked my car, thought this was new

icy1007 2026-02-13 02:05

Tesla isn’t installing 2026.2.3 on HW4 cars with FSD. The latest for those cars is 2025.45.9.1.

dbv2 2026-02-13 02:20

Yep

TheMartian2k14 2026-02-13 02:43

Does OP seem excited? I didn’t get that at all.

Tish86 2026-02-13 03:22

22 MYP, matrix headlights are rarely used and no range “improvement” after the update.

imacleopard 2026-02-13 06:04

Well the fact that they base an entire comment on an unsolicited reference to a social influencer, I’d say there’s a little more excitement than average

psaux_grep 2026-02-13 07:03

The autopark video sure seemed within variance. This feels like «let’s get AI to scour the internet and see if ~~we~~ it can write an «article» so we get to show more ads.

futfacker 2026-02-13 07:39

Mine has tried to drive through red lights twice while waiting at the light.  Something is wrong with FSD or sensor input in this release.

-eccentric- 2026-02-13 09:38

This is driving me nuts in the EU where cars need red reflectors on the back, makes the on-off thing even worse because it actually thinks it's an active vehicle. It also spams them at any road signs as they reflect light too.

fursty_ferret 2026-02-13 10:19

It's really concerning that the writers are referring to a Grok comment as a source. The only thing Grok can do is make a guess based on what other people on X have guessed themselves, so to treat it as fact shows a serious lack of understanding about where it gets its information from.

midsize-sedan 2026-02-13 11:33

Wow this is interesting because I’ve noticed all of these improvements but couldn’t tell why. Auto park is much faster, the matrix LEDs are much better but do get confused at some parked cars, and my battery somehow has 10 more miles of range. This all happened after 2026.2.3 but I thought I was crazy bc there are no update notes besides the door handle charger port

pkyang 2026-02-13 12:10

My high beams turn on specifically when there are cars coming my way, it’s impossible to understand bc it didn’t used to suck this bad

Square_Ad_3276 2026-02-13 12:13

Not possible. The cameras are too low resolution and don’t see far enough ahead.

Moru21 2026-02-13 12:22

Mine are usually around 4GB

dbv2 2026-02-13 13:22

Agree - I am not that impressed with the Matrix headlights. Even in just normal mode with cars coming towards me they don’t seem like they shine light that far.

anymooseposter 2026-02-13 13:46

That poor guy, been an intern for 8 years.

mrbrownskie 2026-02-13 16:14

Elon said it on earnings call maybe 6-8 months ago.

pjax_ 2026-02-13 17:53

They did say HW3 can't do it, but never said anything like that about HW4.

mrbrownskie 2026-02-13 18:02

HW3 and HW4 can’t do it, hence HW5 in the robotaxi. They are waiting to make sure HW5 can do it and then they have to figure out how to replace all of the old computers in HW3/4 with HW5 (or HWX if HW5 can’t do it either). I’m on HW3 and not holding my breath. Could be years at Elon pace.

pjax_ 2026-02-13 19:31

Source? This tweet says HW4 can do it https://x.com/SawyerMerritt/status/2013276126286655740?s=20

cqzero 2026-02-13 19:46

Are you saying that Grok does not use any source outside of statements on X to determine truth? I don’t think that’s accurate at all. I expect it uses various sources on the internet to determine truth

curtis1149 2026-02-13 19:57

The bigger problem is that all the infomation surrounding these new features are purely speculation too, there hasn't been any leaks about the true functionality to my knowledge at least.

ZeroWashu 2026-02-13 20:04

On our 26 MY they have been very good and never once have we had anyone flash us. it can be entertaining to watch the light pattern change as it works. I just remember back to the days of my 18 M3 where street lights would switch the auto high beams off. as for update sizes, I would probably have to check my router but I do know they take between 40-50 minutes to process. What I want is better use of map data to set speed limits. I know they have the data because on some roads when we turn on to them it sets it correctly but come from a different road to that same road and it fails to update. plus there is one odd stretch, less than a few hundred feet, on a 35mph road where the car suddenly thinks it is supposed to do 55! Recognizing limit signs soon after turns needs improvement.

unuomosolo 2026-02-13 20:26

well, mine were 5GB :)

icy1007 2026-02-14 04:18

2025.45.9 was exactly 10GB and 2025.45.9.1 was 8.7GB.

mgoetzke76 2026-02-14 15:54

Interesting I don’t have that at all. Neither on the model Y not on my model three where I put the matrix headlights in myself

mgoetzke76 2026-02-14 15:55

Didnt he say sellijg the car for less than 30k?

mgoetzke76 2026-02-14 15:56

They have HW4 cars without safety operators , so what are you talking about?

Snakend 2026-02-14 20:53

Yeah, in Austin. In 1 city.

Freewheeler631 2026-02-15 01:38

It might be because you put them in yourself? Maybe cars not programmed for them like factory installs…or get the updates because Tesla doesn’t think you have them?

DastardlyDan248 2026-02-15 15:37

I’d suggest a recalibration from tesla service, might be they improved tuning at the factory. Mine are bright and track impressively. Best I have ever had, no odd behavior as you experienced.. There are a few dark spots in the beam pattern…I thought this was odd until I realized how much brighter everything else was……so much light normal headlamps would have given out at that distance. 6 month old Fremont MY.

Freewheeler631 2026-02-15 16:44

They’re definitely brighter and light the sides of the road nicely. I’ll look into calibration, but it seems to me it reacts to all cars whether they are parked, have lights on, etc. plus reflectors staking out road edges for the snow plows to track. Edit: mine is the same age/location as yours.

AndrewNeo 2026-02-17 09:33

there's literally a "an x user asked grok" section so this could hardly be considered real reporting

AndrewNeo 2026-02-17 09:34

I would expect sources to be quoted in order to believe them

Emergency-Present907 2026-02-23 08:14

Why would the "Maps" section of the Versions page be greyed out and show no size for either banks and report 'Unavailable' for the fail count? I am seeing this with the same software and maps versions on my MYP 2022.
